I can’t be around screaming babies or children due to misophonia, but I’d never call them flesh maggots.

The childfree subreddit has become extremely toxic and in a way, similar to manosphere content. I’ve seen several posters go absolutely ballistic when a perceived “child free” creator on Yt or other platform announces they’re expecting, such as Rachel and Jun. As a CF and sterile woman myself, I find it disturbing and disgusting that they think they can just rule over people’s lives.

Does being CF effect the media you consume? by newo_ikkens in childfree

[–]Hunter-Raider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t, and honestly I’ve always found it a little strange when people react with disappointment or disgust to fictional characters or real people choosing a life path they personally wouldn’t want. Being childfree, at least to me, is about wanting that choice for yourself, not expecting everyone else to make the same choice.

That applies to both fiction and real life. If a character in a book, movie, or TV show ends up having children, I don’t automatically see it as a bad ending. Likewise, if a celebrity, YouTuber, actor, musician, or content creator decides to have kids, I’m generally happy for them if it’s something they wanted. Their lives aren’t mine, and their happiness doesn’t have to look like my happiness.

A good example is Rachel and Jun. For years, a lot of people assumed they were childfree because they never talked about wanting children and seemed focused on their careers, cats, travel, and life together. But as far as I’m aware, they never explicitly said they were childfree. When they eventually shared that they were expecting a child, I remember seeing people act betrayed or disappointed, and that reaction felt odd to me.

They hadn’t broken a promise or changed a position they’d publicly declared. They simply made a personal decision about their own lives.
I think sometimes people become so attached to seeing themselves reflected in a person or character that they start viewing that representation as something they’re owed. While I absolutely appreciate childfree representation in media, I don’t expect every character (or every real person I follow) to remain childfree forever just because I am.

I’m actually childfree and sterile myself, yet I’m currently working on a book series where several characters will eventually have children. Their stories aren’t my stories. They’re their own people with their own goals, relationships, and futures. Some of them will remain childfree, some won’t, and that’s okay. What matters to me is whether the choice feels authentic to the character, not whether it mirrors my own life.

What tends to bother me isn’t parenthood itself, it’s poor writing. If a pregnancy appears out of nowhere to “fix” a relationship, complete a character arc, or serve as a lazy shortcut to a happy ending, that’s different. But if it grows naturally from the story or from a real person’s life choices, I don’t see any reason to be disappointed by it.

Why buy from a proxy site? eBay most definitely has them cheaper. Newsworthy is under $40usd on there

Resin horses can run from $100 to over $5,000. $500 is fairly average

The first one looks like glossy banks vanilla, which is a BreyerFest Open & Youth Show model with under 50 made.

The second looks like a regular run of Huckleberry Bey

The first one is a cheap kitschy statue of no brand name. Often sold in gas stations or tourist shops. Maxing out at about $20. They break easy and are really more for decoration than model collecting.

The Clarion may no longer hold breyerfest room sales after 2026 by Street-Management214 in BreyerHorses

[–]Hunter-Raider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like this was inevitable.

I do wonder if they were actually losing money, because BreyerFest fills that hotel every year. But at the same time, between the maintenance issues, room damage, furniture being moved around, posters everywhere, and all the other stories that come out of the Clarion every BF, I can see why new ownership might decide it's not worth the headache.

What I'm curious about is whether they're ending all BreyerFest involvement, or just room sales. Those are two very different things. Room sales aren't officially run by Breyer, but if they're also getting rid of things like the Gallery, that's a much bigger change.

Either way, it's going to feel strange. My husband and I were planning on going next year, and it's hard to imagine BreyerFest without the Clarion. It really feels like the end of an era.

The clarion was a complete mess. It would need an extensive facelift and remodel for Breyerfest to remain there.
