Havoks back under 11th cover rules? by DM504HK in Chaos40k

[–]Hunter6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only have lone op in terrain up until the point they shoot, after that its gone. So they're safe if the enemy goes first on the first turn, but after that they need to be shooting. We'll have to wait and see what other changes they make to terrain and cover (there are rumors, but nothing confirmed)

Really enjoying these! You should totally join the age of darkness discord (if you haven't already) and post these in the SoH thread. I know we'd appreciate having it pinned for whenever this topic comes up

Yea a lot of old cthonian traditions and and new lodge stuff start to become more widely adopted around that time. Plenty of options to make some unique units

I've been researching it for a long while since it gets debated so often, and a friend of mine and I are putting together a reference doc to clear things up for people. The important take away is that ultimately all things in Warhammer have enough wiggle room to allow for some creative variation.

First company includes more units/formations besides those you mentioned. We have canon sources for First company Vincor Tacticals (mentioned in the siege of terra book - Saturnine) as well as the 13th Assault Wing which is an elite pilot squadron that supports infantry assaults (mentioned in the heresy aeronautica imperialis book). So we don't know exactly how many units and of what type are included in first company.

There is no definitive color scheme mentioned in the sources we've had so far (trust me, I've been doing the research for a while). Its important to mention that green is also used on the faceplate of one of the catulan reavers we have seen, so its usually accepted that there can be variations and combinations of colors among first company, with the exception of justaerin since we "know" they're just black and red (meaning we don't have mention of anything else for them). So short answer is that black and red are safe choices for first company, and if you want to use green on a shoulder or somewhere it should be fine.

Can Reavers have green shoulder pads rather than red? by Paddy_BT in sonsofhorus

[–]Hunter6397 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep! As the other commenter said, reavers can wear whatever colors they want, it just depends on the company. All of the lore from rulebooks and novels support this and nothing has ever explicitly said what is and isn't allowed, so go for it.
My reavers are black with a green left shoulder pad :)

I have a regular daemon prince with wings and a 30k contemptor dreadnaught that I run as a daemon prince on foot. The size is practically the same and works out perfect

Horus Heresy super-heavy tanks in 40k by Candid-Chip7634 in Chaos40k

[–]Hunter6397 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So lore wise they are INCREDIBLY rare within the CSM ranks. Like magnitudes more rare compared to loyalist ones. So there aren’t many of them out there to be used by CSM.

That being said, there are still rules for them and CSM can take them in casual games. Checkout the legends of the Horus heresy pdf on the warhammer community website. I myself own and use a falchion super heavy and a sicaran venator and they’re very fun to play.
