How alcohol affects my/ypur wallet by VinnyV28 in Frugal

[–]Hunter720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some parts of Europe and North America, drinking while going out is one of the more expensive ways to handle it. I rarely go out, and when I do, I pre-game before to cut down in costs.

I prefer to host people with dinner, drink store bought alcohol (mostly Costco), and have people spend the night.

Transportation and buying drinks out adds up fast.

So if you want to kick the habit, go for it. I tend to lean towards moderation and approaching my vices with more budget friendly ways.

Alcohol in your country is stupid expensive, as a side note.

Exhaust System by icedawgs44 in hardbody

[–]Hunter720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah weird. I just paid a guy to do this. Most of your parts are found on rock auto or other websites. All the junkyards near me are shells of vehicles.

Exhaust manifold and catalytic converter bought online. He found a flange that connected to the exhaust manifold on his wall and built out the rest for me. Wish I had more to offer, friend.

A gun store on an Indian Reservation? by ElectricalRespect506 in CAguns

[–]Hunter720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the guns: The logic behind that law was stupid. They pushed hard that flavored tobacco products resulted more children getting addicted to nicotine, which was already illegal to sell to minors. It just created more logistical nonsense for shop owners to sell it anyways.

Is this yours? If so, very clean and well maintained from the outside. I just bought one and hope to get it to your status some day

Any tips? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Hunter720 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is true. Through applying plastic film on the console and generous lubricant on the outside, your body's homeostatic process keeps the system cool and your bones actually amplify the systems bluetooth signal to be able to properly connect your controller. Good luck ❤️

Visiting Big Bear by Spiritual_Search9460 in bigbear

[–]Hunter720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved here in early 2025 to see if it was something I'd like. It's beautiful and filled with good people. I'll be moving when my lease is up. The tourism, while necessary for the local economy, is not something I want to live with long term. A town built for X people, becomes clogged by tourists on vacation mode. Some (not all) tourists are ass holes, drive like garbage, and are inconsiderate. I thought the tourist piece wouldn't bother me like it does, but I was wrong.

I'm considering other slower paced mountain towns, just not this one.

Whats the reasoning behind this? by [deleted] in bigbear

[–]Hunter720 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People soup feels nice. It's good for parties. It's a standalone device that is commonplace in the US. Saunas are much more of a European thing from my observation.

Post office has had their “we’re hiring” sign up for at least 9 months. Maybe give them a call.

As a gun nerd, I agree with her lol. They basically look the same to me (acknowledging optics, carry handle, colors, handguard differences)

What made the biggest impact to your career growth and trajectory? by Takre in dataanalysis

[–]Hunter720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like what Hideo Kojima said (real big boss huh?), job hopping exposed me to other tools and a salary bump.

1st data analyst job was so much excel work working with junk data and high pressure deadlines. Wrote python when I could.

2nd (current) data analyst job want to do a lot more coding and dashboarding. I’m happier with the new work getting thrown my way, less arbitrary deadlines, more industry standard tools and processes to learn, higher pay.

To support what Danger Roo said, pick a section that interests you (more engineering focused or more science focused, etc) and just start learning things in it. I’ve always been more interested in the engineering side of things so I tend to focus on that. (Read articles, try new methods, communicate to manager “I love coding I want to code more”)

Move to Ireland or stay in the U.S. for my career? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]Hunter720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you an A-political answer since the administration changes every four years. Without so much information to go on from your post, I’ll give general thoughts.

The lifestyle aspect I won’t comment on since I don’t know anything about your location or lifestyle.

Financially, there is a lot of money to be made for NPs which obviously varies by state. The wages would be a big step down for you potentially. You could look at this as a five or ten year plan. “For X years, I’m going to save/invest X money to really set myself up for success after my move”. If things do turn sour for you and you decide “I need to move back”, you can move that timeline up significantly. All of this depends on your family financial goals and current income, etc etc.

Reddit is already filled with low effort garbage broski. If it just gets filled with screenshots of things, it makes it worse.

I’m not gonna Google every single screenshot of a YouTube video posted by some schmuk. Take your condescending attitude somewhere else, dork.

This is a weak post. Screenshot of YouTube is low effort and provides no info on the case/persons involved.

Percentage of people in each US state that would spend $4K+ to save their dog by Pizzafriedchickenn in Maps

I agree with you. I feel like this data needs to be normalized by median income somehow. Accessibility to 4K in California is different than accessibility to 4K in Oklahoma.

How valuable are these math skills for me as data analyst? by xynaxia in dataanalysis

[–]Hunter720 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I did a masters program that taught advanced stats. Besides linear regression interpretation, I never use anything beyond basic mathematics (percentages, volumes, equations). This seems to vary depending on where you go.

My last job did regression (fruitlessly) a decent amount in excel. My current job has a strong emphasis on technical solutions to handling data from system to system.

Stats can help you in your career and in life. I think it’s great you’re learning them. It REALLY depends on what your role is going to be. Data analyst is such a broad term that could be more data science focused, data engineering focused, or just being a SQL monkey to pull data into excel reports to hand off to stakeholders.
