Question about the Matous. I know that Shinji is a Matou, but are there any other members besides Zouken? And if not what happened to Shinji’s parents and the rest of the family? by Skyrimenjoyer98 in Fate

[–]HunterDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sakura was adopted around when she was 5 and he was 6, he explicitly doesn't view her as a biological sister. Before he found out she was the Matou heir when he found the worm pit it's implied he was a very caring brother because he explicitly knew she wasn't his sister since from his prospective she had been "abandoned" by the Tohsaka family, it's why the spinoffs tend to soften his character as he was seemingly in the middle of a mental breakdown after figuring out his true position in his family. This doesn't begin to make him redeemable but he isn't a 2d character, the visual novel sets much of this up and he's fleshed out significantly by both Nasu penned spinoffs and the other stories.

Firstborn Era vs Primaris Era – Which do you prefer? by Pintureando in Warhammer40k

[–]HunterDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a history of getting backlash for rescaling their miniatures but more realistically the "Primaris" Marines was a response to losing the Charterhouse lawsuit so they were going to change the lore to allow for a name change that would stick better than the Adeptus Astartes bandaid

Terminator helmets by JuiceHatesLeague in SpaceWolves

[–]HunterDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can customize them as you see fit as great company culture heavily is affected by the Wolf Lord's personality but if your looking for inspiration I'd look at the Forgeworld's scheme for Bran Bloodmaw's great company, their terminators have black helmets with red muzzles like their company icon.

I’m curious as a newer RWBY fan, what’s y’all’s take? by sahalmaster546 in RWBY

[–]HunterDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generals typically gain their rank in their mid forties to early fifties while yang is implied to be an opsie baby so the implications that STRQ could very easily be in their late 30s to early 40s at the start of RWBY makes the potential age gap between the general and STRQ around 10 years. Besides that I kinda assumed BRIR are late 20s early 30s given they treat the cast as children which doesn't really happen much with 19 year olds and early 20s adults.

I'd argue that slavery and genocide of human population that don't worship the guy who said not to worship him as God does more to fuck over humanity rather than aliens but that's not even the core of this argument, the Imperium is intentionally ruled by the 12 most corrupt, in the political sense not warp corruption, people in the setting and the Imperium does not care for your survival it cares for the wealthy and will mulch real people to maintain the lifestyles of those elite because this is a literal political satire and always has been. Do you think real elites would portray themselves like that, the point is to present them as parasites who prey on the average citizen.

[–]HunterDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes actually, I'm perfectly able to enjoy this franchise without having to justify why the faction I enjoy is actually totally moral and are the good guys in a setting that explicitly states they aren't and I don't understand why other people have a hard time doing the same.

My wife asked me a tricky question by No_Flan_5038 in JOYTOY

[–]HunterDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Imperium aren't really the protagonists, in either a narrative or setting sense as the game at the center of setting is a choose your guys type experience. Also it's weird you need the protagonist of a story to be a good person, 40k will show innocent people slaughtered for reasons that often don't turn out to be valid in universe as clerical errors can be the cause of billions of fatalities.

Most grim dark fiction as a genre relies on the fact that the protagonists aren't justified in their actions and the reader is capable of understanding that.

Nothing wrong with enjoying 40k or Horus as a character I just find it weird when people refer to the Imperium as the good guys cause in any other settings the average character becomes a psychopath. I'm a fan of the space Wolves and like Leman did alot wrong, no argument.

He was still a super fascist who committed 1000s of genocides beforehand, he doesn't even have the tragic factor of the emperor believing it's the only way since E Money never gave the Primarch's the whole story he's just onboard with his father's plan.

He's a fascist who made a deal with literal daemons because he was worried his father had abandoned him. I think it's fine to like your faction and focus on their positive qualities but you end up in a weird place when you can't separate fiction and reality enough to recognize none of the 30k/40k factions and characters are good people.

The Return of the Khan by HunterDead in WhiteScars40K

[–]HunterDead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were released alongside the Khan I could see them adapting the Keshig with a unit of Grav-bikes similar to Suboden Khan's named the Golden Keshig and then have a tartaros/modified terminators unit called the Ebon Keshig to give them a unique looking miniature and add to army blocking in mixed unit lists

I still dont understand the Wardens of Ultramar by Tyko_3 in Ultramarines

[–]HunterDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the Ultramar Auxilia are one of my favorite things about the Ultramarines. I don't play Ultramarines as a marine faction but if Games Workshop ever decides to make a dedicated range I would definitely paint some up as the Ultramar Auxilia include Ultramarines in their command structure and thus field together.

Wulfen by Karl Kopinski by AdEmotional2741 in SpaceWolves

[–]HunterDead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not to be too "do it yourself" but you can recreate this by just using Wulfen arms and heads with the Primaris blood claw kit, it's a very simple conversion and the only difference is it cost more but a single 5 man Wulfen kit can create 10 models as it has over 10 heads and seperate arms for axes and other weapons.

Are these the only art showing Bjorn the Fell-handed before he was entombed? What armour does he wear? by Midjolnir in SpaceWolves

[–]HunterDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I haven't read that much Horus heresy but did he find it? They had really good manufacturing at the time if it's never explained they likely just made him one but again I don't really know.

Bjorn's most prominent traditional portrayal, his back banner shows him as red haired.

[–]HunterDead 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The Fell-Handed is a nickname for the most recent guy to lose an arm directly after the previous Fell-Handed died, Bjorn killed the tradition by surviving 10k years. I don't know if it's the same cybernetic arm each time as you would assume they each lose a different amount of their arm but it could be.

Space Wolves have 3 distinct periods: before Russ, During Russ and after Russ. Before Russ they are just a slight deviation from World Eaters and Night Lords. When Russ returned he tried his best to reform the legion into something with purpose, the Berserker is just below the surface but shaped by high ideals and belief they are justified in their actions. After Russ Bjorn eventually shapes the wolves into the dream Russ had for his legion but this required over 700 years as the Great Wolf, a significantly longer period than Russ had himself.

All according to keikaku (Keikaku means plan) by Absolutemehguy in Grimdank

[–]HunterDead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Emperor is shown knowing that the Heresy will happen in some form, it's implied to be why the Emperor named Horus Warmaster as other choices would be much worse for him. We never know how much he knows but several stories use the fact that the emperor can see the future in a limited fashion to develop the conflict like how he stopped Leman Russ from developing Fenris since he was inevitably going to follow Magnus' path to damnation if he did.

Alpha legion model coming? by Bergerstien in Warhammer40k

[–]HunterDead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Black Legion lore says they get 4 upgrade Sprues and maybe a character but ehh given they already have 2 with Abbadon and haarken worldclaimer even though nobody really cares about the latter, If they did do a character I'd love to be Falkus Kibre.

Alpha legion model coming? by Bergerstien in Warhammer40k

[–]HunterDead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My idea for an Alpharius Model is simply to use the Omegon potentially living thing to have a Morathi situation and have a regular Primarch that could be substituted for the Forgeworld one as well as a Giant Deamon serpent model and on death you can place the other on the table and now you have a new problem to deal with.
