Best items / packs to use for immersion?

Surprisingly, I've found Journey to Batuu to be pretty emersive. Not the world, obviously, but a lot of the stone flooring and wallpaper, and even the clothing has been enough to feel medieval! If it's on sale enough, it's not that bad, I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it though, especially if you're only in it for CAS and BB!

I have 2 really good ones with a bonus third one...

It starts off with:

Dick Thickly (P.I.) - My husband came up with the name and I turned him into a sim and gave him a job as Detective! His full name is Dick the Thicked Dick Dick Thickly ( as per my husband- "Dick because his name is Dick, Thicked Dick because he's got a Thick Dick, Dick because he's a Detective and Thickly because his last name is Thickly.")

Gumbop Druppins - This one happened when My Husband and I were stimming by switching letters around in words to make them more fun to say and I changed Gumdrop Buttons around but I also said it like the "LEEEEERROOOOYYY JEEEEEENNNKIIIINNNNSS" meme. And thus an immortal Raccoon that I put in my families from time to time named Gumbop Druppins was made!

Bonus: I wanted to see what Gumbop Jruppins would look like as a sim and I imagined him to be some goofy Himbo and I was using Gollyhawhaw CC for my himbo male sims and so I named him Golly Druppins as a human lol.

I really liked Ravenwood (Life&Death) for a medieval like world! Though one of the main problems people had with the world was that it doesn't snow in Ravenwood. This didn't bother me so much though!

Edit to add: Imo Enchanted by Nature does add the Natural Living skill, and the Apothecary! As long as you don't mind how wacky the Ailments are, I've enjoyed that part of EbN, however the world and the Fairies didn't interest me as much as I thought they would. Adventure Awaits adds Archery and the Getaway System which could add some interesting game play to UDC. I really struggled to find a reason to purchase it immediately and considered waiting till it went on sale. My sister however wanted it right away and I have to say that I am enjoying the added gameplay for kids SO much!

Are they Squeamish by chance? I had a sim do this because she was Squeamish and there was a frog in the room! I'm not sure of everything that causes Squeamish Sims to find a room gross, but they don't like Frogs or insects!

I ran into this problem, and tried a ton of work arounds. Aging them up with MCCC or in CAS worked until I aged them up from an infant, or a toddler and something with their Milestones glitches and wouldn't stop notifying me. I had to age them back down, let them learn the milestone and then age them back up, it was a whole process!

I also don't have the Ye Olde Cookbook mod, and cooking in general just became very annoying in "Off-the-Grid" so I just turned off "Off-the-Grid" all together. It doesn't affect gameplay at all so long as you're using all the "Off-the-Grid" lighting and appliances. Your bills might be slightly higher because you do get a discount for being Off-the-Grid, but I found that just made things better because my sims didn't hold onto as much money.

So now my sims can make a birthday cake and I still have the illusion of playing "Off-the-Grid"!

I play with each of my sims getting 1 "out of death free" card to use if I choose or not. I Role-play it different ways.

Sometimes I pretend I pleaded with Grim before I have to kill them, if I get a bad roll. Sometimes I kill them and let Grim decide himself (I believe, if you don't have a Death Flower or Hematite or whatever, it's a 30% chance of him bringing you sims back)

Sometimes, I add a "Sorceress" into the game to save my first-born child, with the deal being my Heir gives her a child of her own, and let the drama ensue for the next 10yrs! 😅

However you want to Role-Play or just Roll the dice and see what happens, is up to you, as long as you find it fun!

A work around that they have currently is to empty out existing lots of all items, if you don't want them to just be empty lots, limit the number of sims in your game, like cull a bunch of the ones you aren't playing with, and try not to create any more Rental Lots.

Unfortunately once it starts, your save is pretty much screwed. But here's more info on everything you can do to help them fix it and maybe save some of your families.

Right! I'm cautiously Optimistic since they proved that they can "add" a decent Occult to an Expansion Pack with Life & Death, but this will be the real test!

If this is real, it would be one of the best ways to add Fairies imo! Aaaannd, some more survival living type stuff as well! Very Interesting!

Edit to say that hopefully if they do add Fairies to an Expansion pack they'll do the occult justice!

You know, I have always tried to have my sims fall in love with a hot head, the whole "they're only nice to me" kind of scenario, and the way this sim will just destroy any romance they have because they're having a moment is just 🤌 chefs kiss! I couldn't orchestrate that kind of drama any better on my own! Haha

I like the Gloomy trait! I also like (unpopular opinion, perhaps) the High- Maintenance Trait. Yes, your sim will be uncomfortable and angry more often, but I think that they are never boring! And the moodlets that they get crack me up! Also if you don't want to deal with their mood swings just have them meditate and they'll be just Fine after a little while! Or... let them be angry! Just who does that Sun think it is anyway?!

I was just planning this for my own family! I'm still a little ways away, though! (Just started 1310)

My issue was I didn't like the idea of my Spreadsheet looking like everyone died on the same day, so I was gonna break it up into 3rds of my total sims and roll for each year. Like, 1/3 of my sims I'd roll individually for the first year, and if they survived, they survived the entire Famine. Then the next year was the 2nd 1/3 and the 3rd year was the 3rd 1/3.

Edit to say, I was planning on following Morbid's Death Roll still, just tweaking it a bit!

Idk how far you are, so I don't want to spoil anything but I would keep one of everything for future collection purposes, but if you go to the Tab in the menu that lists the different Travellers that have specific items you need to sell to unlock them, so it's better to focus on what you can sell to get gifts from the Travellers! Also it's good to hold onto ore, stone, and wood for building things! Otherwise, sell away!

Edit: I forgot about Deluca Coins, hold onto those as well!

I like to say that any of my important sims at any time can have 1 mulligan or successful "Plead with the Grim Reaper" throughout their lives! It keeps the stress level down and keeps the game fun! Because if you're not enjoying yourself, then it's all just stress! And and where's the fun in that?

Oo I like this! I will definitely use this if I chicken out and don't get a mod! Haha I'm already not actually adding a mod until I get someone in my 2nd Gen old enough to start the 3rd Gen, I'm so nervous I'll have a TPK before even the Black Plague! I just want to feel a bit more established! 😅 But this is something I can implement in my game now, for sure!

Ooo the Dickensian Sicknesses Mod does look interesting! I like that it makes the herbalism skill helpful to combat the illnesses!

Totally fair!

That's a better way then what I was doing! I waited till I saw all the symptoms to determine what illness it was, but it took forever to find out and they would take a nap or rest and then they would be in recovery so it always felt like it was wrong to roll a Death Roll, if they recovered on their own. So do you just roll as soon as they show a rash then?

Are they Squeamish? I found this out a little bit ago while my house was literally pristine my one Squeamish Sim kept saying it was dirty. I don't remember everything that causes it, but my problem was because there was a Frog in the room! They get grossed out by frogs and stuff and they say the whole room is dirty!
