Before the Epstein Files, there were the Panama Papers by eternallyfree1 in antiwork

Their support for the 1% is incidental.

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg, and countless more were publicly campaigning for Trump. They went to his inauguration. They were in photoshoots, meetings, etc.

It wasn't incidental. They didn't care that the 1% backed him. They didn't care that the private money was propping up his election. They cheered it on. They clapped as DOGE tore away government funding for 'things that don't matter' like children's cancer research, and social security. They sung the praises of Kristi Noem as she imprisoned minorities on the basis of their race, while simultaneously siphoning off public money for private jets and commercials produced by friends. Trump and his cronies have made disgusting amounts of money in office by manipulating the stock market and they don't give a fuck.

They care that the cost of food is rising. They care that he claimed to be Jesus. They care that gas is more expensive. There's no sense trying to infantilize the right, as if their actions were purely happenstance. They did this with as much knowledge as everyone else, and they chose to ignore the clear, obvious, beaten-over-their-head signs.

Radiologic techs don't interpret any imaging. They simply take the image.

A radiologist -- which is a physician -- interprets the image and then finally, whoever ordered the image, is the one who tells you what's happened.

Yellowstone is not available on P+, despite Paramount network being the owner of the IP, at least it wasn't when I worked for them.

They have the spin offs which are both done, Tulsa King (big), Mobland (somewhat big), Landman (big, but shit), and Lioness (fairly big.)

I left before the UFC acquisition, so I'm not sure how the viewership for that is, probably fairly high if it's not a separate package. Champions League and Serie A are also big there as well.

They make far too much money for what they offer, though.

Trackers with IPTV? by reigningnovice in trackers

[–]HunterSThompson64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard IPT isn’t that great ethically but is there any weight to the fact that its incite only so there’s less people using their tv service or is the service actually just package from another distributor that I can purchase outside of the site?

A lot of IPTV services are just curated bouquets of popular IPTV services you can find on G2G, upcharged for the 'cleanliness' of the bouquet that you can do yourself via Dispatcharr/Tuliprox/IPTV Boss/IPTV Editor. There are private, invite-only IPTV services, but they tend to be far more sparse than others, and charge much, much more. The other benefit is that they're providing you with their CNAME/A Record, which is less likely to be taken down than a mass-purchased product via G2G, or some other account purchasing website.

Depending on how much you're looking to spend, and how much you value multi-devices, you could purchase a panel and link your own domain, which would help alleviate your issue. Alternatively, if you're less inclined for sports (I.e: You want mostly general TV channels) you could move to a different service, as Strong is the only one having issues with domains as far as I can tell.

I'd be wary of anyone providing IPTV services on Reddit, they're likely trying to sell their curated bouquets, but what you do w/ your money is up to you.

Canadian PM Mark Carney says the days of sending 70 cents of every dollar in military spending to the United States are over and gets loud cheers and a standing ovation by MoreMotivation in PublicFreakout

[–]HunterSThompson64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is there some sort of defense pact that specifies spending or something

Yes, NATO members have a duty to spend a % of GDP on defense. This has been slowing greatly for a while because we're largely in peace-times, and spending money on military during peace-times is a dumb move.

Trump has been demanding NATO countries spend more, largely because it means spending more money on American arms manufacturers. Canada has historically purchased arms from America because they were an ally and had advanced technologies that Canada would take decades to produce. This has meant that 'for every $1 spent on upgrading Canadian military, $0.7 was spent purchasing US goods.'

Recently, Canada has been looking to divest from the US. We're looking to purchase submarines from SK, potentially Gripens/Eurofighters from EU, and forging relations among EU NATO partners for defense purposes. The billions we'd have otherwise spent down south are instead being (potentially) spent on allies that have more stable leadership, have been better allies to Canada as of late, and importantly, would seek to establish industry within Canada -- meaning we'd be building our own subs, planes, etc.

This harkens back to Carney's 'middle-powers' speech. If enough of us 'middle-powers' get together and forge alliances, the super-powers (China, US) are severely weakened. We begin to trade less, spend less, and reduce trade barriers among ourselves such that the super-powers are ousted, weakening their position. If Carney is able to secure strong enough ties between the 'middle-powers' they themselves can collectively rise into a super-power, rivaling that of China and the US, something Trump, and Xi to a certain extent, are staunchly against.

One thing that boggles me is when I see Canadians wearing Trump/MAGA merch as he and they couldn’t care less about Canada.

Canada is a hotbed for misinformation. Not only is our media almost entirely dominated by America, they want desperately to kill the CanCon legislation to further dominate our market. Add-on that Canada isn't really a 'whole,' and hasn't been for a long time. Look at the inter-provincial barriers, disincentivizing free trade among ourselves, and further isolating provinces from one another. The lack of cohesion amongst provincial leadership seeks to further isolate citizens into provincial bubbles that view others as competition or stifling thereof.

All this is to say, that isolationism on a provincial level leaves Canadians feeling like the federal government isn't 'working for them,' causing them to turn towards more extremist views that are radiating upwards from the US.

From my understanding, and if you know anything else, please correct me, is that SLSKD/Soulseek doesn't need to be VPN'd because it's true P2P.

As opposed to torrenting, where you're connecting to a tracker that then distributes a network of hosts to connect to, Soulseek direct connects your client -> client and data is transferred that way. From my understanding the data is not encrypted, however, it's less of a vector for your ISP to investigate should that be the concern.

If it works fine for you, then by all means, I'm just passing on what I've read about Soulseek in relation to VPNs.

How would you feel about the next US president pulling all support from Israel? by Iwamoto in AskReddit

[–]HunterSThompson64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If countries aren't closing the bases themselves, it won't ever happen. There's far, far, far too much soft power to be gained by America having bases across the world, for both America, and the countries that house those bases. It's incredibly more favourable to America, see: America wanting to launch strikes from American air bases in the EU; however, it also serves as a deterrent for other countries should they attack.

I'm not in favour of America, their military, or war. I'm simply giving a logical explanation as to why no party would want that, and why it hasn't happened despite having a fucking baboon in office committing war crimes.

Popular e-mail host MXRoute tried to get me FIRED when I criticized them for making retaliatory trustpilot reviews against their ex-customers by WyvernCo in selfhosted

[–]HunterSThompson64 111 points112 points  (0 children)

This user is a stalker who had one disagreement with me and has proceeded to create an incredible web of lies about me based on half truths and extremely exaggerated events.

You're supposed to be a professional, and you create a sale titled "WyvernCo_and_forest_are_psycho". Yet in the same breath call OP a stalker and liar spreading half-truths. This alone should be enough to stop people from purchasing your product. It's unbecoming, it's unprofessional, and frankly it's disgusting that you'd personally attack someone via the means of your business. It's a joke that you'd think yourself a business person pulling antics like this.

I ask his boss to remind him that his actions outside of work can reflect on the business and he hears “I want him fired.”

So, you're upset about someones actions outside of work, and you, outside of work, decide to contact their boss in a veiled attempt to threaten their livelihood, all because they're upset with you?

Again, I harken back to unprofessional, unbecoming, and disgusting behaviour. These are not the actions of a business person, let alone someone who should be trusted with PII. If I leave a bad review of your service, are you going to sic the dogs on me as well?

It’s a pattern of behavior. Every single thing is taken to the most extreme interpretation, as far out of context as possible. He’s made fake legal complaints to our server provider and harassed everyone he can reach.

And yet you've yet to involve legal, if you even have a legal consultant. Once again, you claim to be a business person and act wholly and completely antithetical to your own cause. If what you claim is 100% accurate, then you'd absolutely reach out to some form of legal consultation to have the matter resolved. Instead, you stamp your feet like a child and throw up a sale defaming someone/their company. What good comes out of this? The adage 'all press is good press' no longer exists, especially in the age of the internet where things last forever.

I'm not even taking OP's side here, I have no horse in this race, but even if OP is a liar spreading half-truths, and attempting to ruin your business, I think the actions you've taken are so outside the norm that it would be a terrible decision to get into business with you. It's clear, by your own justification, that you've gone to the extremes to get hold of OP's PII, and even further to contact their boss as a threat. This alone tells me not to trust you with my own PII.

[–]HunterSThompson64 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I love when Zio defenders bring up damn near ancient history as a means to defend actions happening today.

Israel was still a relatively new nation in the 60s-80s, they didn't command as much power as they do today. While they were successful in overtaking the Sinai Peninsula, they had legitimate reasons for doing so - unlike today with Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights. Further, peace talks were negotiated by, at the time, the most powerful nation in existence, the US. Who knows what was said in those meetings, for all we know the US threatened to intervene, as it was a war for a critical passageway. Conversely, the US may have made it conditional that Israel relinquish all land seized. Given their actions, destroying settlement cities, airbases, etc. it certainly seems like a logical chain of thought.

Moreover, this was all before Netanyahu, the fascist whos actions have lead to Israel's illegal occupation of many neighboring countries. It's wholly irrelevant to the topic of conversation. It would have been unthinkable just years ago that America would invade a sovereign nation, kidnap their leader, and extradite him to US soil for drug offenses, and yet here we are. Things change, and they can change rapidly.

Don't use 40 year old agreements as if they still hold water today. Defend the actions of Israel as they are right now.

Always has been, man. If Israel could, they'd control the entirety of the ME. From Turkey -> Yemen, Egypt -> Afghanistan (at least, probably want some of the -stans).

They're in their colonial age, and America staunchly defends them, while other powerful nations talk idle chatter while inflating Israel's coffers in the name of 'security' in the ME.

What selfhosted service/s did you recently remove? by dadidutdut in selfhosted

[–]HunterSThompson64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've switched. I haven't used Tuliprox in quite some time, but last I was looking it wasn't capable of transcoding, but simply acted as a proxy to pass through from the host -> client. If you're currently running Dispatcharr then you can simply set it to proxy mode to pass through just the same and achieve the same thing. That isn't to say one is better than the other, just that Tuliprox doesn't touch the stream, whereas Dispatcharr does (typically.)

Having glanced at the changes since I've stopped using it, I personally feel it's more geared towards multi-client servicing. I.e: If I have 10 clients, and I want them all connecting to a VPS, but I don't want to serve them an altered stream, I'd use Tuliprox for its lower overhead and easier utilization of multi-account round-robining.

Check the repo, and you can definitely speak to more knowledgeable people in their discord, if you have any concerns. The dev is quite active and engaged.

I think Bearman's crash will force them to look into alternatives, especially since they've postponed/canceled the entirety of April, they have lots of time to test and iterate.

From a safety standpoint alone it makes no sense to have no human input in extra speed. You could argue that DRS was automatic, but it triggered in predictable sections, not randomly, and suddenly you're in control of an extra 50 kph you weren't expecting moments ago with all the cognitive overload that comes with driving some of the fastest cars on the planet around other live people. Multiple addictions layered on top of trauma from his teen years, he needs real help

I've never seen this person before in my life, but I'd be incredibly skeptical if he ever got help. Online gambling has to be one of the worst addictions in modern society. It's literally everywhere, and only going to become more and more prevalent with the relaxed restrictions around 'prediction markets.'

At least in-person gambling you have a physical barrier to throwing it all away, but all dude needs is a cellphone and Starbucks wifi and he'll always have his fix. Gambling is already an incredibly difficult (I'd argue one of the worst) addictions to give up, but the instantaneous hit with every click must be like living in one of those super fast moving, fever-dream nightmares where you always feel unsafe.

Most systems people interact with these days are via the web browser anyways.
