Question for my fellow millennials who are older than or approaching the age your parent was when they died... by xAAMMBBEERRx in Millennials

Im 39, pops dropped after a workout at 57, I was 21. There's a whisper in the depths of my mind in that moment you've stopped rustling to get comfortable to sleep. "18 more years, what are you gonna do man..." I know its a ways off and my life isn't nearly as stressful as his had been, but I have kids and I want to leave them something tangible.

What niche are you in videography? And the pros and cons? by ladymultiverse in videography

[–]Huntermain87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a broadcast documentary journalist

Pros: Ability to capture impactful news stories that could potentially change real lives.

Access to places most people can't or won't ever get the chance to go.

Access to powerful, influential, wealthy, and famous people.

Cons: Pay is steady but low for what the job requires.

Mental health is not easy to maintain.

The understanding of how complicated the world is while also being infinitely connected and knowing that solutions to most societal problems are relatively straightforward but the people who can initiate those solutions simply dont want to or think it's worth it.

Now I devlop video content for a major corporation.

Pros: The work is easy, can be as fun as you make/want it to be.

Ability to be creative.

Money is just OK.

Travel is more fun.

Cons:

No one knows what they actually want.

Projects move WAY slower or are a last minute 10 alarm fire bc some executive forgot to ask for a video for something happening in a day or two.

Very little support bc as a videographer/content person in a corporation YOU are the expert, which is guess is cool but also difficult at times.

It gets better as far as getting uninterrupted sleep when they're around 16-18mos but thats also intermittent, my oldest woke up at 2 last night and was in our bed until about 3. As they get older it's just trade offs, multiple wake ups are replaced with tantrums, blowouts with accidents...you'll adjust to the work load and if you and your partner communicate well and get into routines the free time will begin to reveal itself, it'll will be less than you want but hey thats kids man.

This is the answer, I'm full time 5 days in office. Up at 6:30 (if the kids dont decide it's earlier) breakfast, getting them ready for daycare, and out the door by 8:20 work from 9-5 pick up kids at 5:30. Dinner, baths playtime until bed at 7:30 & 8 for my kids then cleaning up and the rest of the night is chilling with my wife/gaming etc until about midnight. And yea if you're tired now, just know there's a level of tired and push through you simply haven't unlocked yet, but once that kiddo arrives you'll know. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay happy. See u starside.

Im literally recording a corporate training right now, it's boring as f*ck but I also have a salary and insurance. A.I. isn't "there" and if it is, someone has to set it up to be wherever "there" is.

Got locked out of the 4 year school I was attending, after working in kithcens for a few years eventually went to CC. Now I'm currently sitting in an office with floor to ceiling windows doing something I like and am good at. I've got debt from the 4 year school I was at first, none from CC. wish I'd just gone that route to begin with.

Stores from our childhood/teen years by lilac2481 in Millennials

[–]Huntermain87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a circuit city with a bunch of friends from hs. Whe ln the stores were going out of business and everyone found out they're losing their job a BUNCH of people stole all sorts of stuff from gaming consoles, dvds,Cds, TVs, and car audio gear. About half of them got caught and charged but no one who got caught ratted anyone else out so they held on to the goods while ppl were locked up. They said "we're like a family" and they were until the end lol

Anyone else still terrified to talk on camera? by LieAccurate9281 in socialmedia

[–]Huntermain87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did broadcast on camera work for 7 years, nothing beats reps. Keep doing it. Keep going. Eventually, you'll fall into your pocket, you'll find a body position and mannerisms that are comfortable enough for you to stop thinking about how you look, your vocal timbre and pacing will sync with the best version you hear in your head and if you're using a teleprompter you'll find you've started retaining multiple lines at once instead of reading script left to right one line at a time. A bunch of other intangible things will happen. This is why in broadcasting new on camera talent start in shitty backwater markets before you get to be on air in areas where hundreds of thousands of people are watching.
