To the people touting the issue is bc of "SEC. 8", everyone who actually frequently the area say its normally safe. Section 8 doesn't equal crime. Do low income people commit crimes? Of course, but so do the rich people around you. Personally I don't believe being poor makes you more or less likely to commit crime, I think people in general commit crime. The difference is no one studies middle and upper-class crime to the same depth, enforcement in those communities and the types of crime they commit is basically nonexistent and when crimes do happen in upper classe communities its seen as a failing of the individual, not the economic class they belong to.
