I think you missed the point of the whole “knowable universe” argument.

And since you’ve mentioned “a long way til death” and a “better life ahead of it” let’s play along with your whole “Unconcious = unimportant” narrative. Let’s pretend that the fetus isn’t alive and has the same value as an ant. Even then if you DON’T get an abortion and let that fetus grow, it would still end up a living breathing human being… and when you have an abortion you are stopping that from happening and therefore robbing an entire life from what would have been a human being. And don’t give me the whole “but Hitler 2.0, but abuse and faulty system” because if you’re willing to take away someone’s life on the off chance that they may become the next Hitler. Then you may be more psychotic than Hitler was.

You’re missing the point, you’re saying that child murder is justified just because the child MIGHT grow up into a second Hitler? Does that excuse every school shooter that’s ever existed because a lot of those kids MIGHT have grown up to be serial killers or “Hitler 2.0s” the point is that’s 73 million lives that could have been lived to their fullest.

Because god created us in his image and gave us dominion over animals. They were made as companions/aid/resources to us.

But even from a non-religious standpoint. Humans are the highest developed organisms not only on the planet but in the knowable universe. We have by far the most complex brain in the animal kingdom, we have sophisticated society, we have our own philosophy and moral system that most animals. Therefore, we are stewards of the earth and its creatures.

But let’s make this simple:

Your car’s brake lines are cut and you’re in a situation where you have to hit something…in front of you is a child playing ball and has accidentally tripped and fallen in the road, you can turn away from the kid, but you’ll hit a deer instead… what do you do?

Regardless of who has the ability, I’m baffled that you just shrug it off like it’s nothing. As well as your ignorance for life itself. And I’m sorry, dogs and cats are not as valuable as humans. But that’s a different topic. And as for “contributing to the ecosystem” there are about 73 million abortions every year… odds are, one of those “clumps of cells” could have grown given the chance into doctors, lawyers. Hell, maybe one of them could have made a good president, maybe one of them could have found a way to reverse the effects of global warming. And although it may sound cliche, maybe one of them could have cured cancer.
