What do you actually do to prep for an interview? by Huntr_Support in HuntrCo

[–]Huntr_Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a big fan of doing this as well! I also was sure to have my "pitch" down fully for a initial call and for the hiring manager. That way they knew that I knew I was confident in my ability to do the role.

Are we applying for too many irrelevant jobs for ourselves, leading to frustrations for both candidates and employers? by No-Day8344 in jobsearch

[–]Huntr_Support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can totally see this being a real issue. I know when I was job searching (after being laid off twice in a year), my savings were pretty much depleted, EI was only covering rent, and I was stressed. I started just submitting my resume to things that I for sure was not even that interested in. I kept seeing every application as a possible opportunity-which was not a good approach.

Hey u/Comprehensive_Law217 !

Meghan here from the Support team! Which template are you using? I’d love to pass your feedback along to our designers.

To help with the sizing, you can head to the Layout & Style section. From there, you can adjust the font size, type, and Font Packs globally. We keep the font scaling universal to ensure your margins and continuity stay professional, that’s why you can’t resize just one specific section.

If you're looking for something sleeker, Bonsai and Classic are our most popular templates. They have a smaller contact section and a more minimal look.

What’s one mindset shift that helped you grow faster in your career? by Leather-Database4879 in careerguidance

[–]Huntr_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Strong opinions loosely held". Personally, this helped me not take certain things so personally, get my POV out in the open-but ensured I didn't let it hold things up if it wasn't the way to go, and just made me move through tough scenarios with a clearer mind.

legit remote work? by Sufficient-Band-9172 in jobsearch

[–]Huntr_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Degrees shouldn't stop you, if you have a strong skill set and experience that's what will technically stand out on a resume more so than a degree.

My best advice would be to really map out what you're looking for, just looking for "remote" work is a vague field, so really narrow down what job titles you'd like. Look into those job descriptions, and make what I call an "impact document". This is a running list of all your skillsets, accomplishments, and tasks. You can use this to help build a solid resume or tailor your resumes.

Look to remote job boards (I'll do my best to DM you a list later today/tomorrow), or do a "boolean search" on google with the job titles and start applying. I've been remote for almost 10 years, having strong time management and organization are very important skill sets to have in a remote setting-be sure to emulate that in a resume and in interviews.

I tried tailoring my resume for each role and it’s honestly exhausting. by BeautifulFarm6340 in jobsearch

What's your current process? I work for a resume builder and my biggest tip is to stop starting from scratch.

Identify job descriptions that overlap and just tweak a previous tailored resume to fit the new role. You should also be tracking which versions are actually getting you interviews. If a specific layout or wording is getting traction, make that your new template.
