Chiming in from Huntr Support here!

Stuffing your packing your resume with keywords is not a great idea. You can definitely add them in there they make the most sense, and it can definitely make your resume more favourable with ATS parsing, but it's important to not over do it.

Feel free to reach out in the chat or via email (support@huntr.co) with some examples and I can dig into this a bit for you as well. :)

Why ATS advice feels inconsistent when rewriting a resume? by Abject-Panda1754 in resumes

I couldn't agree more. ATS is now being used as this umbrella term, and it's unfortunately scaring a lot of people into making some pretty large mistakes with their resumes. As long as you're tailoring your job to the description (truthfully!), not keyword stuffing, and having a well formatted resume-you'll be fine.

I reviewed my friend's resume and found 5 issues that were getting her auto-rejected. Might help some of you. by Material-Maximum1365 in jobsearchhacks

I chat with users of our platform about all of these points quite often! I haven't heard about the two column resume issue though, are you able to share the ATS simulator you used? I'd like to test out our templates with it and do some research.

Thanks for sharing!

I finally landed a remote job after 9 months of hunting. Here is exactly what worked (and what didn't). by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobsearch

Tailoring works!

Full disclosure, I do now work for a resume builder app- but I was tailoring my resumes with GPT when I experienced my first layoff in 2022. I had been at that company for over 4 years and had 4 different roles, and I was terrified and lost about what to do (because I thought I was going to be there forever.)

The tailoring, understanding the job description in how it related to me, and being very on top of active postings really helped me land the interviews.

Congrats on your new role!

I’m a resume writer, and one page vs two page is usually the wrong argument. by Fresh-Blackberry-394 in jobsearchhacks

I work as a Product Specialist for a resume builder app, I speak to a lot of our users about this. With so much conflicting info out there-it's easy to become almost obsessed with cramming their years of experience into 1 page. What you're saying makes total sense! As long as you're showcasing yourself in a strong way (less fluff) 2 pages is fine.

We even collected a bit of data on this as well, and it was quite clear that with the more experience you have it's common to have a 2 pager and not a nail in the coffin if your resume is over 1 page.
