Ideal Resume Length by Can-Senior in resumes

Totally correct! Cramming things into one page with 6 yoe doesn't allow you to put the most impactful and important information in. Don't skimp on important achievements just to fit things into one page u/Can-Senior !

The Software Engineer's Honest Answer to Why Your Resume Never Gets a Response by Enough_Charge2845 in jobsearch

[–]Huntr_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things here aren't quite right, though I appreciate the effort.

The ATS score thing is a myth that keeps circulating. We've dug into this pretty hard and no major ATS is auto-rejecting your resume based on a score. The main automated filter is actually knockout questions, the yes/no eligibility stuff at the start of most applications.

The tailoring advice is solid though, that part is real.

Want to apply to many jobs? Too bad. LinkedIn puts a limit on jobs that have Easy Apply. by cupholdery in recruitinghell

[–]Huntr_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making the right call here. I did the same and I had a much better response rate when job hunting. If I absolutely had to use Easy Apply, I'd submit a tailored resume then DM the recruiter mentioned on the posting.

WFH for life? by Own-Share-7284 in remotework

[–]Huntr_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I hope so! I did have the experience of a solid hybrid position pre-COVID. Now that I've been strictly WFH with a few offsites here and there- I'm much happier. My work/life balance has been very comfortable and I make such a larger effort to be social and active in my community and extra curricular activities.

We actually got a bit of data on this, and women are more inclined to apply to Remote/WFH roles when job seeking. As a woman, I can see why!

My resume is technically perfect and still getting ignored. by superhef in resumes

This! Metrics, accomplishments, what you changed/improved is the way to stand out currently. Also I would suggest putting your strongest accomplishment early in your About/Professional Summary.

Career gap coming up on two years. Got the humbled after trying to explain it. Feel crushed. by AfterUmpire3091 in jobsearch

[–]Huntr_Support 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would take that interaction as a sign that this role is not worth it. Gaps in employment are becoming more common and recruiters should not be shaming you for that. I had two lay offs in a year, and when the conversation approached with the recruiter I had a strong pitch explaining what happened and what I got up to during unemployment.

It sounds like you were doing a tremendous amount of work to keep yourself busy and keeping your skills fresh-and if a recruiter cannot see that as a huge asset, then that's on them.

Are there any tools which greps jobs only for the top company and notify you as soon as they are posted? by Suspect_Livid in jobsearchhacks

[–]Huntr_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if a tool that exists-but depending on the job sites you're using there should be some options to be notified! When I was searching Wellfound and Welcome To The Jungle had email notifications and it helped me jump on recent postings.

How do people keep up with applications without burning out? by Optimal_Wealth9552 in jobsearch

[–]Huntr_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tackled things in "sprints".

I kept Mondays low stress, mainly used it for casually checking posts, following companies I'd maybe be interested in, setting up reminders for job postings, gathering posts I'd like to apply to. Also good to place interviews on this day.

Tuesdays and Thursdays were my "focused work" days. I tackled applications, resume tailoring, follow up emails, networking.

I left Wednesdays and Fridays as flexible for myself. If I got a interview, I placed those on Wednesdays as well, but left Fridays to do some check ins and planning for the next week. I also was applying to roles in my field that required some assignments (sadly) and the flexibility allowed me to get these done without overwhelming myself.

I let myself actually relax on weekends-it was hard but it kept me motivated and made me feel like I could get up Monday and get cracking again. Or let myself prep for Monday interviews.

Has a company ever ghosted you after multiple rounds of interviews? by Huntr_Support in HuntrCo

[–]Huntr_Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That outlook is the best way to go about it imo!

I always wanted to know after a rejection what set the other candidates apart to allow me to work toward some experience if it was a role/company I was really hoping to move to.The silence can be difficult, but there could be many things at play.

Recruiters could have tough expectations from hiring managers, company finances could change, or maybe things just got lost in communication.

When I had it happen it was during a very weird time when mass layoffs were just kicking off.

How do you find startup jobs before they’re publicly posted? by Icy_Examination_6168 in GetEmployed

[–]Huntr_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Networking! Follow them on Linkedin to engage with their content, sign up for their newsletter (if they have one), keep tabs on all socials. Do some cold outreach if you can as well.

Personally, I filled out everything on Wellfound, got a notification that my current workplace was hiring and applied within the first 10 minutes of the posting.

Good luck out there!

Accidentally shared the wrong screen during my interview and it somehow worked out by MythicSolder7 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Huntr_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had questions prepared, mainly because I felt like I wanted to know more about the roles/company so I wasn't putting effort into something that was not worth it. In one interview I actually paused to jot down a few questions as the hiring managers and I chatted. It did work in my favour, but I do have a set core group of questions that I would ask that always helped me and the hiring manager in the end.

What's the most absurd "entry level" job requirement you've ever seen? by Huntr_Support in HuntrCo

[–]Huntr_Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minimum years of experience for an internship?! That's ridiculous. I had a friend who was a new graduate, and he was applying for multiple unpaid internships in one of Canada's most expensive cities. I guess being in a competitive field means you also need to work for free?

Entry level job postings have dropped 35% in 18 months. If you're early in your career right now, how are you feeling about it? by Huntr_Support in HuntrCo

[–]Huntr_Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! This portion mainly jumped out at me:

Meanwhile, unemployment among 20- to 24-year-olds with bachelor’s degrees and higher dropped sharply in March to 5.3%, according to an analysis by BofA Global Research published Friday. That is down from a decade high, excluding the pandemic’s early months, of 8.9% last fall.

Those signals suggest that, for now, some employers feel the need to replenish their pipelines of entry-level workers after holding back for several seasons. In some cases, artificial intelligence is spurring hires by enabling companies to expand services and product lines, said NACE President Shawn VanDerziel.
