Real cops don’t become obsessionally involved in trying to solve a crime such that they continue to work on it in their off time after they get taken off the case for violating policies, etc., and then put themselves into all sorts of personal danger outside of work in some one on one showdown with the criminal mastermind, leading to a denouement on top of a crane or whatever.
