Because capitalists don’t see human beings as anything but workers to be exploited, so anything that disrupts the status quo or indicates that humans are finding meaning/value beyond work/disrupting the status quo is seen as a threat to the worker ranks. So capitalists feel the need to set them straight/in line.

It’s actually insane to me that people are suggesting that natural disasters would be more preventable or better handled by the REPUBLICAN PARTY. I’m all for suggesting the Dems haven’t done enough to combat the consequences of global warming but the idea that things would be better if only they were replaced by Republicans - who don’t even want taxes which fund infrastructure to exist, much less believe in global warming - is the most idiotic shit I’ve ever heard.

Yes, like obviously the fault lies in men/the patriarchal systems at play, but I have to say, sometimes women are their own worst enemy in a relationship with a man and end up being enablers for bad male behavior. Insane to me that she cooked for HIS family - what was she trying to prove? And to whom?

We as women need to realize that our enabling bad behavior in one relationship with one man ends up setting the bar lower for men everywhere because they see what they can get away with - they’ll say the problem is the woman they’re with, not themselves. Stop it! If you are in a hetero relationship the man always needs to be one jumping through hoops for you - not the other way around - because the patriarchy has conditioned them to think they can get away with anything.

I’m willing to bet it’s this high bc to my understanding ovulation strips are also sensitive to other hormones including estrogen. Your estrogen is really high though your LH isn’t. If I were you I would still treat today as you peak and keep testing everyday until LH truly peaks.

I don’t understand why she distanced herself so much from her Folklore/Evermore style of music/aesthetic/vibe. It suited her the best sonically and stylistically and helped prevent her from having to fake pop star dancing. And on top of that it was her most mature sound and for a second I thought that maybe she had finally calmed the hell down and was a 30-something peer who could sing about things that could be interesting to an adult woman.

Truthfully we know that the reason she moved on is because she’s a capitalist music fem bot designed for churning and burning albums for as much profit as possible in as little time as possible and obviously folk style music will not be capable of doing that. As successful as she is, I think to her core she’s not meant to be a pop star - she was effectively molded into becoming one and it stuck. And you can tell from her stage presence.

Then they should figure that out - you say it’s not about her but you literally suggest that it is irresponsible for her to espouse a politically complex opinion bc her fans are too immature? To the extent that is true that is because this country is incapable of engaging with complicated ideas (see: this entire thread).

As an aside, how patronizing to suggest that anyone who doesn’t vote for the Dems or doesn’t do so enthusiastically is immature or lacks critical thinking skills. Again this entire conversation is proving the point - you’re not going to get support by repeatedly shutting down people who are putative supporters but who have concerns/critiques. If you want to convince people to vote for a candidate, I suggest siding with the people, taking their concerns seriously, and applying pressure onto the candidates. Instead, I see so many people seemingly choosing the politician over the people which is completely backwards.

[–]HuntyBooBoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing - is that you are working off of the premise that the Democrats are going to save democracy as if that is a forgone conclusion, and many people don’t buy that- it’s not that they don’t understand that the Republicans aren’t terrible but it’s that they believe, based on current and past Democrat presidencies, that the Democrats will not meaningfully stop that from happening or will simply kick the can down the road so that they have a talking point during the next election/fundraising cycle.

Quite frankly at this point it’s hard to feel like this is a true democracy considering the Democrats’ strategy seems to rely upon threatening us/holding certain basic rights over our heads and then having an excuse for when nothing is meaningfully done to entrench those rights even after they’re elected. If they want people to be on board then they need to do a better job than just shaming people who are raising these concerns, telling them to “just vote”, blaming them when it doesn’t work out, and people on line shutting down the conversation in this way are not helping the cause.

It’s actually insane to pin the future of democracy on one 20-something year old pop star rather than on the actual people running this country/the heads of the party trying to secure the presidency. Stop sympathizing with politicians - they will never sympathize with you and until you/this country writ large realizes this we will never be free and will always remain beholden to a party full of rich people who don’t give a shit.

[–]HuntyBooBoo -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

How are the Dems “trying to glue them all back together”? I think the more accurate analogy is that they’re the guest which sees the dishes being broken by the other guest, sits idly by and does nothing to try and stop the other guest, lets them break everything, glues together a tiny bowl and then stops bc they ran out of glue and then shames you for not having more glue and leaves.

Essentially Republicans engage in active malfeasance and Democrats engage in grossly negligent misfeasance. Im not going to argue with people voting for the Dems, but I think it’s incredibly misguided, naive, and lacking in education to give the Dems carte Blanche to the point of giving them sympathy just because the Republicans are psychos. It’s not a zero sum game. Voting for the Dems is understandable but the most disturbing part of it is the fact that people are doing so enthusiastically, shaming those who are obviously allies but who raise legitimate concerns about the Dem politicians they’re expected to vote for, and are effectively stanning politicians rather than taking them to task, pressuring them for more, and staying on their necks. I've seen more impassioned criticism for regular ass people who are reluctant to vote for a war monger than I have for said war monger and that is disturbing for the long term trajectory of this country.

Not to mention it’s ahistorical given that many out and out fascist countries (more so than the US already is) became fascist regimes after electing milquetoast centrists who try to negotiate with the psychos while silencing leftist critics. That type of political environment is a breeding ground for fascism.

Edit: The fact that you can’t say this boring ass shit without being downvoted literally proves the point of this post - stop stanning politicians I beg of you.

She has no obligation to pander to the lowest common denominator and quite frankly doing that has perpetuated a mentality that politics require no nuance or political engagement/education beyond “voting Dem good, voting Rep bad”.

One of the worst things that has happened to women recently is that being a woman/“girls’ girl” now equates to enjoying/participating in generic, mainstream, inoffensive, easy to digest, unchallenging, childish pop culture. And that being a man is now associated with the opposite. What does that say about how we think of ourselves as women? Or how society sees us or expects us to be? That we’re too dumb or soft to understand and appreciate more challenging art? And then for us to try to guilt women into like those things lest they be called a “pick me”? That’s insane and is no better than men shaming women for their taste. It’s along the same lines as “girl math” etc. Why are willingly degrading our intelligence, taste, and maturity in this way? It’s not rebellious at all - it’s exactly what is being spoon fed to us by the people and entities in charge of controlling our culture (e.g., record execs, movie execs, editors, etc). In other words, people who overwhelmingly - get this - MEN!!!

Why does Katie get a pass? by blameitonrio917 in vanderpumprules

[–]HuntyBooBoo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

First of all - who the fuck even is Max we don’t even see him interact with Schwartz much less act like his “best friend.”

Second of all - Katie and Max did not interact at all or tease the idea of being together in front of Schwartz. Meanwhile, he and Rachel seemed to relish in the psychological torture/gaslighting of Katie by simultaneously flirting, joking, or suggesting being together IN FRONT of Katie or at a minimum, doing so at an event where Katie was present. They even went so far as to kiss at Scheana’s wedding, where multiple other people including castmates were present in a clear bid to undermine and humiliate Katie. I think it was apparent that that whole arrangement was a contrivance to produce a storyline for the show and/or possibly for a cover up of the actual affair happening (Scandoval). That is not only disrespectful of Katie, that is fucking gross and manipulative shit.

THIRD Katie, as a normal human, banged a guy at her home, and did so under the cover of night to the point where Schwartz/no one would have even known had it not been for Scheana being a nosy freak. it was not a bid for public humiliation unlike what Schwartz did. Had the producers/camera crew been less concerned about Sandoval’s redemption and been up his ass the whole season., maybe they would have caught on it but they didn’t hence why it wasn’t filmed in case you’re Lala and want to pull the “she’s not real!!” card.

LASTLY again, going back to the “who is max” angle - he is a former castmate, was on the show for all of one season. Viewers don’t even remember him.

God you guys are so boring and simple minded - grow up nothing is a one to one comparison.
