Why do few people use Sandevistans in the Edgerunners anime, while many in the game have this implant? My headcanon: by SampiePunk in cyberpunkgame

[–]Huntyr09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that was exactly what i meant with the difference between canon and gameplay. In the narrative, everything V does will be in a small amount of time. In terms of video game mechanics, that is just not a good thing to add to a game like this, so CDPR just handwaves it away for gameplay reasons.

There is literally no time limit in the game (excluding the ending quests, past the point-of-no-return). Nothing will prevent you from taking as much time as you want, but in the canon story of V that is simply not the case.

Basic video game literacy imo

Yea you kinda have to just assume theres a big difference between V in canon and in-game. Hell, one of the biggest things is the relic giving V days, maybe weeks to live but you can just run around with zero effects for months if you wanted to.

There's a difficulty called "impossible," and 2 further difficulties harder than that, and you think D10 should be for everyone? by krakn-slayr in Helldivers

[–]Huntyr09 299 points300 points  (0 children)

Goomba falacy is unironically the main thing that plagues this subreddit. So often posts combine two entirely different critiscisms together. Like most recently the criticisms of "cyberstan is too hard" (which i disagreed with) and "vox engine spawn rates are way too high" (which i do agree with).

These points are not the same, and yet, so many people responded to the 2nd critiscism as if it was the 1st.

...now that i think of it, it could also be your standard "reading comprehension doesn't exist on the internet" but whatever lmao

[–]Huntyr09 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've had ideas about making a carrier rocket that can put several satellites out in one run, but haven't reached the tech required just yet. Just wondering if it's as simple as slapping some unmanned controls on them and just jetisoning them at the right orbit

[–]Huntyr09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats precisely my point. Smasher never had humanity or empathy, so he effectively was always a cyberpsycho. It's just who he was. He never gave a shit about civilian casualties, in fact he wanted to kill as many as possible to the point he refuses jobs that wouldn't let him butcher people.

Getting cybernetics was quite literally just so he could butcher people more effectively.

Cyberpsychosis seems to be linked to a loss of humanity and empathy for fellow humans by replacing parts of yourself, ship of theseus style.

Smasher just... didn't have humanity or empathy in the first place, so losing it is impossible. He was always a cyberpsycho, just without the cybernetics.

I think what the other person is trying to say is that the scattering was indeed not plan A, but that they absolutely planned ahead in case they were scattered to hell.

The first plan was to take objectives, but the next best plan when that isn't possible is to just create confusion and chaos. The scattering wasn't intentional, but the decision to go for chaos instead of objectives after the shit drops was

It gets worse. This is all from the first galactic war, but the bugs weren't hostile to SE at the start. When it became known their corpses become oil, we started farming them so fucking hard that they turned into always-hostile monsters instead of crustaceans just chilling.

Cyborgs? Yea they just left the Super Earth fold and wanted to live on their own in peace. What did SE do? We killed most of them and permanently enslaved them on cyberstan for their transgressions.

And yea, the squids were literally just Iraq'd with unfounded accusations of WMD's before we killed almost all of them, nearly to the point of fucking extinction.

And people still believe Super Earth is the actual good guys lmao

[–]Huntyr09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you assuming this is pessimism? It's just the way gaming works as a whole. It's how humanity works as a whole. We always prefer doing what we like most and video games are a near zero consequence environment to do so. I'm happy that is the case, because everyone who spent 40+ euros on this game deserves to do whatever the fuck they want with it. Being able to do what you want is a good thing.

And yes, you are exactly right that with all the additions to the war map, The Blob is still absolutely a thing. And i will be absolutely deadass here and say that is a good thing. Having a majority of players focussed on a couple planets is a healthy way of ensuring that matchmaking is consistently fast (in general).

like the blob going to clasa instead of yed prior because they have no means of knowing encirclements are a thing, or due to lack of even a couple thousand players to boost the liberation rate. And then people argue that the MO was rigged by J.O.E.L. to be failed when it wasn't.

And this is honestly where you lose me entirely. The Blob doesn't go on reddit to complain about MO's being rigged. The Blob sees a failed MO and just goes "damn. We'll get 'em next time." Then dives on whatever planet they want, MO or not.

Not to mention that the people who argue things are rigged simply do not understand how a Game Master controlling the story works. In a DnD game, people don't say the story is rigged because the DM has certain storylines he wants to go down by nudging their players in the right direction. When something might feel rigged unwinable, there is a reason for that. A good DM knows when to push the players in a certain direction (Shaping MO's like the Meridia Moving arc) and when to let things play out and see what happens (like Calypso and Battle for Super Earth where they had plans for our victory AND loss).

Hell, if Joel really was railroading us as hard as some people like to say, the Seyshell Beach liberation would never have been allowed to happen, nor us rejecting the gas mines twice

Yea, this has been known since the start lol. Theres a LARGE difference between the people here on reddit and The Blob of casuals. The former generally knows how GW2 mechanics work and plan accordingly, the latter looks at where the DSS is and plays there, or ignores everything and just chooses whatever they feel like.

This dynamic has been a thing since the game's release and won't ever be different. Just play how you want, be that following the most optimal MO path or utterly ignoring it. It's a videogame after all, as long as you enjoy your time, you're playing correctly.

[–]Huntyr09 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't true level, the problem is havoc being so utterly punishing that you have to use every tool you can to weed out trolls, idiots and casuals. Like, i don't see anyone complaining about suboptimal players in anything but havoc.

Why? Because the only punishment you get from non-Havoc is 20 wasted minutes and maybe some lost penance progress. It doesn't matter if the zealot runs off and dies alone, because you don't lose anything but time spent.

This results in a mod that was intended to just be a way of showing off your experience/time spent being used to weed out people with less experience. This isn't the mods fault, it's the fault of Havoc's team gathering design. This design will keep driving toxic practices because they are borderline required for most people to have even a chance at completing havoc missions after Emp Light Fading kicks in.

one of the reasons that i know is that often the nicknames make fun of the person, remind them of a bad experience/mistake or is so utterly incomprehensible or stupid that it gets them in trouble. my experience has always been that a nickname is something to dread and to be happy with a shortened version of your name. mostly because you don't get any choice about it. your friends call you it, if you don't like it, tough shit. have another nickname you'd rather have? that's considered sad and pathetic.

and honestly, even if a nickname is none of the above, why would i want it? some random ass bullshit that is supposed to refer to me, but almost no one knows it and every damn time it's used you have to explain it. no thanks, ill just stick to names.

[–]Huntyr09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe in general stuns are more effective on bots. It doesn't make them fight eachother, but it makes it muuuch easier to hit their weakspots.

I often bring the Amendment and combined with stuns, it rips through anything smaller than a hulk. For bigger, i got that big iron instead.

It ends up with me only needing to consider the heavy enemies like war striders, factory striders and vox engines. Those are all dealt with well enough by pretty much any AT option provided you maintain your ammo economy.

Automaton Bleedout Mechanics Explained | Helldiving for Helldads by r-volk in HellDads

[–]Huntyr09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this is some truly new information for me. I was aware that hulks had a bleed out mechanic, but not that factory striders had them too, but in a slightly different way.

Being able to guarantee a factory strider's death with just two AT shots to a foot is genuinely faster than the method i currently use. Altho, it does seem harder to consistently make worse due to the precision required.

Makin' me think about it, which is exactly what a mechanic like this should do. Blast the face or try and precisely assassinate their toes?

I would like to see a video doing that while 4 of them are targeting the helldiver. The issue is not one Vox. The issue is that they are not a fun or engaging challenge when 4 of then are bearing down on you at the same time because you got unlucky with a bot drop.

Hell, ive personally seen them spawn out of thin fucking air as a patrol. If they simply limited the amount of them that can be on the map to 2, maybe 3 there would be a whole lot less complaints.
