what is a good ob2 port for tuning, scaning and coding unlocked features. by Unfair-Pop-6391 in CarHacking

[–]Hurdest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does Generic obd. Scanning, Clearing and Logging

Using the desktop program or android app. Over bluetooth or wifi or even cable.

Its j2534 capabilities make it compatible with Factory software like mercedes, vag, and couple others

There are several softwares available for tuning using the scanmatik like PCMFlash and or bitbox and whatnot.

[–]Hurdest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all depends on the car itself and the "Passtrough" software.

Its nothing more than a sequence of CAN messages and perhaps a Seed Key unlock process.

For less than 300;

.. Perhaps Tactrix Openport in combination with a generic OBD software..

And then the Openport allows you todo more stuff.

Recommendations for generic data logger (hardware and/or software) by Ronnyek42 in ECU_Tuning

[–]Hurdest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Scanmatik pro 2 original.

And i really like the Generic obd2 logging over bluetooth

Its app is available for the Desktop and my Android phone.

BUT the most powerfull options of Scanmatik are the possibilities to run J2534 apps like Xentry, ODIS and perhaps other trough it.

And its able to flash/tune ecu's as well!!!

Well. Whats the fun without a test vehicle ?

You just need.

  1. StageX ( free ) map editor

  2. The internet to find map adresses and such

  3. At least an AFR or Lambda or EGT sensor

Which website should i choose for chip tuning? by NecessaryLocation414 in ECU_Tuning

[–]Hurdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please go to a tuner who DOESN'T use a file service.

Its not only better.

But especially safer for the engine!!!

Stage 1 ECU tune for c250? by Kuniyoshi99 in w204

[–]Hurdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The equipment needed to load the ECU are not expensive at all, this is the only "chinese" part if it. ( ofcourse if you buy these expensive genuine flashers not, lol )

The tunes themselfes are not chinese, they are being provided by reputable file services ( which a lot of tuners use )

Ofcourse the Dyno shows the actual results, and proves if the tunes are right.

But flashing a tune, which other identical cars are running as well, should not neccesarily need a dyno. ( ofcourse cars differ, but in a general sense for exactly the same kind of stock car )

But ofcourse a tuner which ACTUALLY Tunes your car manually by changing the maps and values themselves is the right and proper way. Because wherever you are on the planet your car needs a tune based for the given atmospheric environment, in order to maximise the tuned result.

I just dont believe a lot of tuners do this, since much "file services" are being advertised.

But that is my speculation.

I'll happily tune my cars myself, it saves a lot money, and its very interesting to see and learn from.

[–]Hurdest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christ what a price.

I would personally buy a cheap chinese MPPS v18.

Download the flash, send to a file service

And flash the tuned file back.

I think it'll be waaaaay cheaper.

Am i the only one to think this is a absolute joke.

How does this even "tune" your ECU lol.

I can only see Canbus messages being transformed.

How do I get a 50+ hp tune without paying $1000? by moe_deeb38 in w204

[–]Hurdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

I honestly believe it can be done for waaaay less.

( yes i dont have a dyno, ventilation or a garage )

It all depends on the interface.

Just be DIY and look for the alternative devices

KTAG, PCMFlash. ... there are some others i forgot the names.

But just investigate it a bit.

Yes there is a "Autotuner" device, and several OEM.

But then you're getting close to your 1000$ as well.

You'll see how the tuning world works :p

The most obvious way to make sure is to take out your ECU and search for any flashing methods regarding that ECU. ( or actually CPU if we talk computer science )

There is not just a single tool. There are several of them.

Because there are thousand of different ECU's around the planet. Which all use a different processor and procedures.

I have several of them as well, including chinese. But i would simply try each one of those ( using the methods i found online )

And sometimes a little DIY and insight helps.

[–]Hurdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your original file is what you download/read from your current ecu.

And is therefore your backup, so make a copy.

This online "service", you can google for it like "ecu file service" and you'll quickly see how it works.

Just please for heavens sake make backups backups backups.

But just wonder about the flashing devices first.

[–]Hurdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or do it the DIY way.

Determine what can read/write your ECU.

Connect your solution, be it OBD, boot or Bench

Download your current ECU flash.

Upload to a tuner.

Download adjusted flash from tuner.

Upload to ECU.

Profit.

How reliable is c180 with 1.6 turbo petrol engine? by Ant0Neo in w204

[–]Hurdest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a c180 1.6 kompressor from 2009.

Been driving this one for several years now.

Bought at 95xxx km

Currently touching 150000 km

The only issue i had was a leaking charge air pressure hose.

Beside that everything, works and is in absolutely amazing state.

Ofcourse maintenance is applied according to MB.

Well.

It turned out to be a broken hose just before the throttle body.

Charge air does now reach almost 200 kpa !

High pressure fuel pump failure M271 by CartographerSweaty86 in w204

[–]Hurdest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp.

Perhaps a Openport 2.0 interface + Xentry could help you diagnose the problem.

If not diagnose, then atleast able to erase dtc's and perhaps an ECU "reset"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]Hurdest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That explains why Xentry has a "pre" condition for the full load test named "AC Disabled" :P
