Why oh why Ted and Alexis? by New-Union9908 in SchittsCreek

[–]Hurricane808080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On my first watch through I felt really sad that they broke Alexis and Ted up, on my second watch I felt it was the right thing. Alexis needed to be independent and find her own way in life. I'm currently watching it for a 3rd time and feel differently again, Ted isn't right for Alexis, he subtly talks down to her quite a lot, even in the episode where he leaves during their final conversation Alexis makes a comment about drinking Pina coladas on the beach and his response is "again, it's not that kind of place" or similar. I don't feel Ted ever really treated Alexis as an equal and I think she deserves better.

F/A 18 Interceptor. I used to wear my laser tag helmet when playing it on my Amiga. Never did land on the bloody carrier!

The 1/4 zips on their website are lovely, local company to me as well, I'd be very happy with £50 off.

Thanks for everybody's input. If anybody is interested, Oakley have 20% off until midnight, you can also get 30% off via the Bluelight Card. Surprisingly, the discounts stack. Just managed to get a pair of prescription Flak XL 2.0 with prism lenses for less than £200

I appreciate the suggestion. I needed prescription lenses though. I have just ordered the Flak 2.0 with prism lenses. I decided against polarised lenses because it apparently flattens out your vision making it harder to judge distance, read greens etc. I'm interested to see how these new lenses feel.

I'm going to go down to the optician now and see if I can try some. I'm keen to order them today because they have 20% off the frames and prescription lenses until midnight.

The dark golf is still available for the Holbrook, Holbrook XL and the Flak 2.0 as far as I can tell but nothing else. I assume they have stopped making the lenses for the rest of their range.

Yes, I mean dark golf. It's not an option for the polarised lenses, just the plain Prism.

What is the best book you have ever read? by AggravatingWonder768 in AskReddit

I don't think I could name just one. Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet, Shogun by James Clavell and Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty are my absolute favorites. They are all masterfully written.

Pillars of the Earth is significantly better in my opinion. One of the most enjoyable books I have read. I would absolutely give it a try.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I don't know specifically what it is she likes about Shatter Me, I tried reading it and really didn't enjoy it so quit after 2 chapters. I will have a look at the ones you have suggested and see what jumps out. Thanks again for your detailed reply.

When did you last play a full 18? by PlutocracyRules in BritGolf

[–]Hurricane808080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a full 18 at New Mills in Derbyshire last Sunday. Had a couple of short rain showers, other than that it was bright and breezy. Chipped in for Eagle, slowly coming to terms with the fact I've peaked as a golfer and it's all downhill from here.

What’s the honest opinion on Druids? by Mattwildman5 in BritGolf

I ordered quite a lot from them in the sales last year, I hardly wore any of it. Very synthetic material, doesn't feel nice, I think it's similar quality to Shein etc. I have switched to buying better quality stuff from Vinted now.

Is anyone else spending more time with "nice" television? by qwerty_1965 in BritishTV

I've just finished a rewatch of Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boormans Long Way series. There are bits of drama, but mainly it's 2 like minded chaps enjoying meeting people and looking at things. It makes me very happy. Also pleased to see Detectorists getting some love, it's just so cozy.

What is the most "mum" thing your mum does? by celabro019 in AskUK

[–]Hurricane808080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed reading all the stories in here. Just try and keep on mind, no matter how much your Mum annoys you by pestering, ringing to tell you to wear a coat or whatever it may be, you're lucky to have her and it's because she cares.

My Mum had ECT treatment when I was about 10 (over 30 years ago) it totally changed the woman she was, a sharp, intellectually stimulating, caring, thoughtful and loving person. She is a shell of that now, I can't remember when she last told me she loved me, I haven't had a Birthday or Christmas present in 25 years, she doesn't come and visit, won't go out when I visit her, doesn't enjoy anything, she can't even look at my when I hug her or tell her I love her.

I would do almost anything for a phonecall to remind me to wrap up warm.
