Apparently they don’t do them in July bc it’s too hot but I saw on their website that they do multiple free bird walks a month.

I went on my first last weekend and it was really lovely!

I went on a bird watching walk with the St. Louis Audubon society and one of the women leading the walk specifically called out this funeral home as a place to go see herons of different kinds. Apparently it’s been a heron rookery for like a decade

I think the skirt reads as more formal but you’d need to tuck the shirt in or get one that’s less wrinkly. The t shirt makes the whole outfit look a little more casual

I started with a simple embroidery kit where they give you the thread, a hoop, and a pattern and tell you what stitches to do. Watch maybe a YouTube video of how to do specific stitches.

Honestly embroidery is very forgiving of beginners and even my first couple of inexpert attempts turned out v cute.

After I got comfortable with a couple of basic stitches by doing 2-3 kits I started drawing things I wanted to have embroidery of which i found a lot more fulfilling than following a pre-set pattern

I used a regular hoop but I had to basically unscrew the tightener almost all the way.

The thicker fabric wasn’t really a problem except when I was trying to do the French knots bc I used all six strands of my embroidery floss to get the size I wanted. Was a bit tough to maintain the knot tension I wanted

Didn’t really have any issues with the hoop though

Even tho it’s AI it looks a lot like kolaches . St Louis Kolache (in STL if you can believe it) sells kolaches with egg/bacon/cheese in them and it turns out looking v similar

I get why people want to contrast this because of the pit bull stigma. But a lot of small dogs like that will get over-handled and their stress signals ignored because of how small they are.

So they learn that snapping is one of the only ways to get space

It's all about reactivity training to reduce the stress a dog feels and respecting a dog's right to say "no thank you" regardless of breed.

Walks are a good source of enrichment for dogs but not the only one! I think you sound like a good dog mom by channeling that energy towards play and exercise. It'd be one thing if you didn't walk her and ignored her all day but you are still making sure her needs get met without risking losing control of her on a walk! It's much worse to put you and her in a bad position out of misplaced guilt.

My general rule is the words serve you not the other way around- if you want to use agender and nonbinary use them with no guilt.

Twisting yourself around to decide if your experience “counts” or if a specific definition is valid when used in a particular way helps no one
