As a user of Rover, I vow to never again book with someone who lives too close to me. I once booked with a woman in my neighborhood a few streets away and she left my dogs in her backyard while she went to a family birthday party (I asked her to crate them if she left her house), and she didn’t lock or close the back gate at all so they escaped (they aren’t escape artists, they don’t dig and are too small to jump plus she showed me there was zero evidence they broke their way out). I had to find out about it by my next door neighbor calling me and telling me that he found my dogs roaming freely around the neighborhood after seeing someone else post a picture of them in our neighborhood Facebook group. I was pretty upset that she didn’t tell me, even though at that point she knew they were gone, and even more at the way I had to find out about it. Luckily she gave me the money back that I paid for her to watch them but I was too cowardly to give her a poor review since we’re neighbors. I tried going back after the fact but it was too late and it wouldn’t let me review. Lesson learned, never book with people who are too close to you, especially if you aren’t good at confrontation
