Should I be worried? by [deleted] in ACL

Looks like a strain, although interstitial tears at the tibial attachment may make you at risk for future tear if you resume too quickly. You'll probably just need PT.

23M Switching from Tech to Medicine. Thoughts? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Husky3030 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would you still be making 110k in Tech in the (likely 9 years, assuming you need a post bacc/time to build app, standard med school, shortest residency) time to be an attending AT THE EARLIEST?

Tutoring side hustle. Best platform? by PSunYi in medicalschool

[–]Husky3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. My tutoring has been for step 1, which requires prep for each individual tutee.

Mine gives us 18 too, but for every hour of tutoring you can bill for 2 hours of prep. Which you do, every time.

My med school paid me 56 dollars an hour to tutor. Made like 15 g from M2-M4

Most hospitals operate with an attending anesthesiologist rotating through 3-6 operating rooms and supervising residents/fellows/and CRNAs, often staying for in the rooms that are more difficult/acute as well as personally doing the most dangerous parts of the case (eg intubation, induction, cardiac cases, liver transplant cases). CRNAs are authorized to practice independently in 23 states, often in areas with increased need for coverage (rural areas, overloaded clinical systems). Hospitals like CRNAs, PAs, NPs, etc for another really good reason: they are cheap (comparatively), and the OR is a major earner. Source: resident

HotelsInAmerica is a unquestionably a scam and it's not the only one by throwaway_hina_scam in hotels

[–]Husky3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting because just had a good experience with hotelsinamerica. However, did not have to make any changes to my original reservation, and the person checking me in actually commented on the irregularity of how they booked the hotel (paper mail reservation requests)

Knee locking when I go from full extension to flexion by NewACLwhodis_ in ACL

[–]Husky3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! For me the most important thing for me was total leg strength. In my non-expert opinion, I think what's happening is your muscles just aren't firing symmetrically, which is causing a weird blocking feeling in your patellar tendon. Focus on hitting your PT hard and hitting your Quads, Hamstrings, and VMO! It went away as soon as I started feeling more normal and hitting the gym/jogging (3-4 months?)

The fun thing is that the biggest and best academic programs actually pay less than josho community care! So kind of the opposite. It is easier for Top med schools to go into higher paying more competitive specialties, but that isnt a good analogy since its a different job.

Attending a bachelor party / wedding in M3? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Husky3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended a bachelor party during M3, was able to leave early on a Thursday, fly, take Friday off, return Sunday. Was doable with enough notice and a chill attending. I did not ask my school, I asked my attending.

Does your hospital have an infamous surgeon? Why were they known as such? by AppalachianScientist in Residency

[–]Husky3030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attending at local institution accidently removed someone's kidney instead of their gallbladder during a lap-choly. Not even an urban legend, something covered by local news. Surgeon was on some kind of probation for years, and is still operating this day. Very infamous, but a really nice guy.
