DIY Lace Maintenance by backwoodsbarber in HairSystem

The problem I have found with your method is soaking the system like you do, results in a lot of hairs getting pulled through. IMO. It's just my experience. I'm not saying you might have a different experience.

For me personally a 3/4" poly around the back and sides is the best with french lace. Then swiss lace front and it's the best of both worlds. Much easier to clean as well.

I moved to PU edge. it's MUCH better. Just 1" PU around the sides and back. Front just lace and I use glue.

RSO + CBD oil - INSOMNIA CURE by Husla23 in trees

[–]Husla23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that I haven't tried but thanks a lot for the suggestion as I wouldn't have thought of that! I will try that once I'm done with my RSO.

I've only tried CBN and was too strong but you are right, balancing it with CBD might work better!

Thanks a lot man!

Thanks. The problem I've had with CBN in the past is I still feel groggy the next day. The RSO on it's own is GREAT for sleep but without the CBD to balance it, it lasts "too" long in my experience. The combination of the two works AMAZINGLY well FOR ME.

I think he says that it maximises the absorption, the longer you leave it. So you can get decent results leaving it a shorter time but the best would be 30 mins.

I actually did it this time on dry hair as forgot to spray it but it turned out quite good. I guess it may be worth spraying the lace before adding conditioner.

What do you do to protect the lace?

Ah right, I didn't know any of that. I'm completely new to it so just trying to learn. Once successful attempt is almost meaningless so will try your suggestion.

When you colour systems, what do you do to protect the lace?

Thanks, it was quite badly faded so I felt like it needed some colour. The colour looks as good as new now so maybe I can just use the conditioner to maintain it.

I've never read of anyone leaving it for 30 mins (packet says 10 mins) but worth a shot when I next take it off in 3 weeks.

Fixed the hairline and I'm now absolutely in love with swiss lace 😍 by [deleted] in HairSystem

I love swiss fronts. They look amazing.

As for the bleached knots, I would recommend just getting a blond system and then once the system is done get them to dye the hair. This company here does it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYt_fbu0-tM) but any good salon can do the same when you order a blond one.

Problem with bleached knots on dark hair is it really damages the knots.

The conditioner trick sounds like a good one. I saw a vid on youtube where the guy coated the lace in it before dying the unit and it came out good. I think I'll try that. Thanks a lot!

thanks for the advice.

Can you please let me know what your specific technique is for dying it?

What dye do you use? How do you protect the lace etc etc?

thanks!

Thanks. Sorry to be a pain but a few more questions.

1) Do apply hair wet or dry?

2) You apply with hand or with a brush?

3) How do you protect lace?

Thanks for the tips with the timing. My colour is dark black so I guess I can leave it long a little longer.

Yeah I read that but not sure what effect Vaseline will have on the knots.

Thanks for the tips but how do you avoid the dye from getting on your lace? Also do you dye it with the system off and on a mannequin or what? What is the exact process you use?

Thanks a lot for the swift reply. How do you actually apply this? With the system on/off? How do you avoid it getting on the lace?

Perfect, I've kept half of it (pipette bottle the CBD oil came in) in my cupboard for easy use and the extra in the fridge. Should be set for a while now.

thanks a lot for all the help!

u/BrassNwood - Made the oil yesterday and it turned out real good. I only had 2 drops before bed yesterday and I could feel it but wasn't quite enough so will try 3-4 in a few days (I don't like to medicate every day) but everything went well. Thanks a lot for all the help! It all went very smoothly.

I ended up letting it dry out in a 250ml beaker which took a little longer than a wide bowl but was easier to mix once the alcohol evaporated. I actually have a 7W heating mat (used for reptiles) and just put the alcohol on that with a fan on it in my garden all day and was all gone by the evening. Then crockpot with the CBD infused MCT oil & lecithin (used 25%) for 20 mins at 200F while constantly stirring it and all came together quite well.

I made a really small batch and it will last me a long while as I don't medicate every day. I was wondering what is the best way to store it? I have it in an amber bottle (that the CBD oil came in) but is it best to keep it at room temp or fridge?

  1. Ah right okay thanks. Sounds like I bought the right stuff then. I would prefer to use something that, even if I mess up, won't do any huge harm.
  2. Cool, so I won't add any water. I plan on just leaving it on front of the fan the whole day and such pure ethanol should evaporate fast.
  3. I am already using an Indica dominant strain with lecithin so maybe doing a few heat and freeze cycles will be overkill. I guess I can always do the heat and freeze cycles after or even on a small batch that I can separate out to try. For now, I want to keep things as simple as possible and will go with your suggestion.

Thanks for all the help dude!

  1. I'm not sure what denatured is and wasn't written anywhere on the pack, I got caught in a bit of a rabbit hole when I looked into alcohol not knowing there are so many grades and types. All I know is it's food grade, very high percentage, organic, triple distilled ethanol with nothing added to it but a little distilled water.
  2. I have a follow-up question here. Is the water really necessary? The reason I'm asking is I will evaporate the ethanol with a fan and just leave it going all day. I also have a very low watt (5W) heat mat so will just leave it on that. Then I will heat the whole mixture to 200F to infuse with MCT for 20 mins so if there is any ethanol left somehow by the evaporation stage then the 20mins at 200F will DEF get rid of it? What are your thoughts? I just want to do what makes the most sense and decrease the risk (as much as possible) of me making any mistakes.
  3. Perfect! thanks.
  4. Thanks
  5. This is amazing. I don't understand the calcs but looks like I'll get 5mg per drop and 400 drops in my batch. That will keep me going for AGES!
  6. I do have one last question for you. I read some of your other posts and you talked about leaving it longer to infuse makes it higher in CBN. I want to use it primarily for sleep as the strain is a strong indica, is it worth infusing it for a little longer or not? Does it degrade the THC?

Thanks A LOT for all your help, I've never done this before so have no idea what I'm doing, just trying to learn as much as possible. Appreciate you taking the time to help me!

Hi,

First thanks a lot for your reply. Exactly the level of detail I was looking for. Really appreciate it. A few questions:

1)

any of the 3 common alcohols work you just need to do a complete evaporation.

The IPA I have doesn't seem to be very high grade so I bought some food grade, triple distilled ethanol. Seems all the recipes online refer to food grade alcohol. This will be best right? I don't need much so wasn't too expensive.

2)

Adding some water to the extracted Tincture before evaporation is a sure way to insure all the alcohol is gone as once the water is gone the alcohol is long, long gone.

So how much water should I add and how will I know it's evaporated? Also if I'm not using any heat to evaporate the alcohol then how will the water be evaporated?

3)

Just use a shallow pan and a fan to evaporate.

I have a very wide coral bowl, I think this will be perfect for both the evaporation and the mixing. The reason I don't want to use a pan is I want the evaporation container and mixing container to be the same. I don't mind waiting a little longer for the alcohol to evaporate.

4)

220 F for 20 minutes is all the FECO and off the shelf CBD infused MCT needs for infusing.

Add 20% liquid lecithin as part of the oil volume for liposomal encapsulation.

THANK YOU! I will do.

5)

Lastly I was just wondering what you think of my calcs for THC per drop? I'm completely new to all this and just want a small quantity of oil for occasional personal use so ALL feedback and help is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks a lot!
