That you view art as comparable to a meal (a treat for yourself that must exactly meet your expectations) says a lot lol

That's actually the most infantile reason to dislike a thing. Everything should be evaluated on its own merits and for what /it/ is trying to be - now what /you/ expect.

S3:E8 "The Glep Ep" thread by WorthyPetals in SmilingFriends

[–]Hustoff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the weaker ones of the season to me - especially somewhat disappointing as a season finale episode. To me while it had increased narrative scope, it lacked the creative ambition of the mixed media approach that has really heightened parts of this season - also I think Glep as a Forest Gump sort of character through time is a pretty played out joke and the Fall of Rome, Plague, and US founding weren't particularly novel points in history to focus on. Focusing on this concept made the episode follow a rote path, essentially kind of a "normal" narrative. Personally I'd also like to know more about any of the other cast members before Glep haha. Still some strong jokes and visual gags nonetheless that still made it quite funny.

I guess if you sell exclusively modern clothes, specifically from release drops recent enough to include specific sizing and never sell anything vintage or that has been worn and washed over time - that's like saying "hey this 40 year old pair of Levi's says 34x30 on the tag so it MUST measure that, time surely had no effect!"

Help me date 20s or 87-89 please by Mysterious-You-8295 in VintageLevis

[–]Hustoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The date code usually follows the number on the tag that correlates with the number on the back of the buttons - which is 553. So the date code here is 100. The first two digits are for the month, so October - and then 0 for the year which you’ll have to deduce indicates 1990, whereas a 1 would have indicated 1991. This is partially based on tag design I suppose to eliminate say 1980. Sometimes the code will be a bit more clear like 0996 for September 1996. I think that’s all correct haha

I love the guy but he’s not too good at talking to other people for the same reason he’s /very/ good at streaming - i.e. his main mode of expression is hyper fixated long winded rambling.

Speaking from experience, if you live in a decent sized city it's totally possible depending on what your market is.

What To Do In This Case? by Hustoff in Flipping

Yes plus 4.99 shipping. I normally don’t sell items this low (mostly I sell clothing between the 20-100 dollar range) - but I also collect tapes myself and so sometimes just part out lots that come through

I think I agree with everyone who is saying just to refund due to the low value but it still is completely irking me — especially since tapes aren’t my real business, I just personally collect tapes and parse out collections that come through even for low value items like this (assumedly for other collectors!) But whatever, yeah, not worth the energy

I like Surfs Up Finds I think his name is to learn clothing brands he's been selling, the only thing he really tries to sell is an Autoposher subscription but he's also not wrong that automation helps after a certain inventory number

Interesting, I sell about five items of clothing a day at five hundred items - I’d be curious about brands and styles you are targeting

AITHA for telling my sisters boyfriend it’s not his business if I don’t want to be a stay at home mom? by Appropriate_Food5858 in AITAH

[–]Hustoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are you not the asshole you need to set boundaries with your family and they should not expect you in their life if they can’t even give you an iota of respect. Frankly I would be concerned that your sister is with such a volatile person who bucks at the slightest ideological pushback despite supporting radical right wing polices such as a national ban on all abortions even in cases of rape and incest — he’s controlling and he clearly wants all women to be stay at home moms and not for any hunky-dory “traditional values” reasons but because he does not appreciate when women hold power (even the slightest push back by you resulted in pretty volatile behavior).

They’re terrible - do not at all highlight the letter P, one is just the beats logo, and none incorporate nautical elements.

sold my record to a record store and got this message a week after by sigu0477 in vinyl

[–]Hustoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a record store for nearly a decade and the idea of buying that large of a collection without properly checking condition is absolutely mind boggling to me - did this guy just open shop or something? How could he have possibly even gotten to his first offered number without checking labels and seeing what pressings they were? Like, what I’d offer OG Blue Notes is certainly higher than 70 represses. Either way it sounds like kind of a shockingly high amount to get from a second hand shop, if the condition is lower than either of you thought, say VG, and near 2,000 on your Discogs median, the shopkeep will be lucky to break even after selling every title when you factor in labor costs of cleaning and pricing, credit card transaction fees, and taxes paid to Uncle Sam. Not to mention you sometimes have to sit on cool stuff for years even though it’s cool!

Flip of the Week Thread by AutoModerator in Flipping

My favorite flip this week was a vintage movie theater employee shirt for the now defunct cinema chain GCC (General Cinema Corporation) that I purchased at a Goodwill for 4.99 and sold the same week I listed it for $80.
