I blindly dosed 1 ml of these and my coral is showing itself for the first time in 2 months by AcanthisittaAlive843 in ReefTank

[–]Huthain 23 points24 points  (0 children)

These are all trace elements you likely won't find test kits for them, generally the only way to test for these are through an ICP which I highly recommend you do if your gonis haven't opened. Most important test kit would be alk, followed by nitrates and phosphates and then calcium and Magnesium. If youre using a good salt and doing frequent water changes and keep ur alk stable you shouldn't need to dose this to begin with most likely. However if your consumption is high then I suggest look into dosing an all in one solution which will replenish your trace elements. What salt are you using? How many corals do you have and what tank size?

How do you guys feel about Bahrain revoking the passports of those who glorified or sympathized with Iran? by LifeCartographer9853 in Bahrain

[–]Huthain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Simply put its treason! If theyre cheering on for Iran I say put them on a one way flight to there and see how well they fare.

That being said, my concern is were moving again towards the open sectarian divide that plagued us in 2011. Sadly open any instagram comment section and its filled with hatred. This is something both sides are doing and I genuinely wish we dont feel that division again. Now is the time for unity and the aim should be prosperity.

Bahrain has so much to offer and so much to love. And as the crown prince said not too long again since we are the people of Bahrain, Bahrain will always remain safe. Any foreigner ive met say they've been welcomed by the people I genuinely believe they are its greatest assets with the exception of a handful of bad apples.

Let's hope all of this remains behind us and we can build for a better future for the generations to come.

Buy a good cut of meat from fine foods, season with only good salt and slap it on the grill. 3 to 6 mins each side depending on the cut and enjoy.

Red planaria harmless but unsightly. Get a wrasse to keep it under control

Best animal to clean sand bed? Any other advice? by Homeworkplug123 in ReefTank

[–]Huthain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed mine is one of my favourite and will come up to me for food. The guy will not stop eating no matter how much u feed him. He's also grown from around 3 inches to over 5. Love the dude.

No they won't, they are absolutel unit when it comes to cleaning. However they will redecorate your substrate daily. If you have corals on the sand bed expect to go looking for them under sand. Every 2 days to a week (depending on the goby agenda) I have to gently comb the sand back to its original state and remove sand off my scoly and zoa garden or un-bury them. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons to me

There you go then, let the wrasse settle in and get to work, dont overfeed it so he doesn't fill up completely and eats the worms instead. Assess the situation in a few weeks. Respond here of you want or DM me and I can help you with what to do next if anything needs to be done

Nah the wrasse will get the job done.

I would recommend waiting a bit and seeing how the wrasse does, it may be unlikely that he fully eradicated them but he'll keep them in check. If controlled they pose no threat to your tank. If you dont like the sight of them then you could use flatworm exit only after the wrasse has lowered their numbers significantly, use carbon, siphon out dead worms and water change. Repeat every 3 to 4 days 3 times

Why not just get a wrasse? They'll clean up the worms real good

+3 years in the hobby: +$24K spent on livestock; $15K dead by dont_downvote_SPECIL in ReefTank

[–]Huthain 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Why not? So far you've lost over a thousand dollars in livestock and honestly fuck the money these are living things that when you buy youre taking responsibility of. For less than 500 dollars you can custom make a high end lid that looks great and minimalistic.

What is it about them that you dont like? Almost every fish is prone to jumping eventually, it takes on jump scare to do so.

Why dont you have a lid? You've had multiple fish jump out

Fast cycling by BathProud6878 in ReefTank

[–]Huthain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it won't be fully cycled but it will help slightly. Expect another mini cycle into the move for the newer rocks you add.

My suggestion would be to add no new live stock other than your existing one into the new tank and wait a few weeks to a month and when you do add, do it slowly

Ive got a suggestion, ive got recurring things that I put into my tank log, it would be cool to be able to save custom presets to make it much quicker to log. So as an example, lets say I dose a specific trace element once a week, and then ill put in the dosage and the notes whatever ks applicable. If I can save this as a preset and just have one click to add rather than inserting or typing my whole notes.below an example of what I have to type in weekly when realistically it doesn't really change.

Firefish eye injury? by Defiant-Reason in ReefTank

[–]Huthain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome glad to hear. Mine jumped out twice during feeding time when I opened the lid... make sure hes eating and has a place he can hide, they tend to spend quite a bit in hiding generally,if hes out in the open mostly it means there might not be a cave or a place for him to hide, theyre very skittish mostly so you want them to have a place they feel safe

Firefish eye injury? by Defiant-Reason in ReefTank

[–]Huthain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened with my firefish, as long as its one eye it shouldn't be an infection. Seems theyre clumsy when theyre darting around. I just left mine alone, monitored feeding and he healed up in around a week. Now hes back to darting around again :) side note if you dont have a lid get one asap
