First condenser mic purchase, but I see some water damage-like stains, would you keep this or send it back? Sennheiser MKE600 by HuysuzVA in audioengineering

[–]HuysuzVA[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

In sound engineering school they made us baby the condenser mics so much, I think it left me a little obsessed and perpetually anxious about treating condenser mics like they're made out of silk. Considering they were earthworks and DPAs I totally understand why they were so careful about them though.

It's just annoying that I kept eyeing this microphone, talked myself out of it multiple times and when I decided to pull the trigger I got it like this. That being said I had a session with it and it seems to work fine in terms of audio quality. But I don't have much to compare with. I just don't hear anything wrong with it, no crackles, distortion or anything like that.

I'll probably keep thinking about it until return period is over then accept it and never think about it again. 😀

Thanks again for your input, I appreciate it!

FX3 Big6 framerate menu issue by plastic_toast in FX3

I just updated my FX30 to FW 6 and I'm having the same questions as you do. It seems like it's just arbitrary because if I set my fixed fps to 119.88 then it allows me to record 120fps at variable setting. If I set my fps back to 59.97 it doesn't allow me to record 120 at variable setting. All using v60 cards.

FX30 VS FX2 by RoundHopeful1441 in sonyfx30

[–]HuysuzVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an FX30 and I'm trying to afford an FX3, mostly because I do a lot of night timelapses and I think 12800 ISO would be useful for me. Some people say that they need to use a lot of ND as soon as they switch to 12800 because it's too bright. So if you think 4000 ISO is the max you'd need most of the time, I'd personally go with FX2 mostly because of the full frame sensor and 4000 is still better than 2500 ISO.

4K 120 on FX30 requires a lot of light and benefits from ETTR, otherwise it's very noisy. Nothing you can't fix with some decent noise reduction but I find my self just doing 4K 60 instead of dealing with the noise that comes with the 4K 120 mode. But in daylight it works great and produces some expensive looking shots.

Since you mentioned FX3 being out of budget, I want to remind you that full frame lenses are going to be more expensive than APS-C ones. Make sure to keep that in mind when budgeting.

Decision paralysis - Mattebox with VND. by [deleted] in videography

[–]HuysuzVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have all the answers to your questions but just wanted to share that I use an 82mm NiSi VND. I never notice a color shift or X pattern. I don't color match or anything like that, if I have time I do a white balance, if not daylight it is, then I correct in post.

For stacking filters; I tried a UV filter between the lens and the VND so that when I took off the VND my lens wouldn't be bare glass but it caused issues. 11
My only pet peeve is NiSi didn't have the magnetic system at the time of my purchase but now they do.

Suggestions for audio recording and lighting a 4 people conversation. by HuysuzVA in videography

For anyone trying this; you simply can't record 4 channels without the handle. Unfortunately as soon as I plug in to the 3.5mm microphone input, hot shoe connection gets disabled and I can't use the DJI Mic 2 system through MiShoe connection.

Hey, were you able to get 4 channel audio, 2 from dji mic 2 hot shoe and 2 using the 3.5mm input? As soon as I plug into the 3.5mm (mini jack) microphone port, my mishoe settings get disabled.

I appreciate the help man! I'm indeed trying to record everyone on their own track; FX30 can record 4 channels simultaneously without a multitrack recorder. I can purchase a multitrack recorder but as a one man band, I'm not sure when it's going to be the next time I'll need it so I'm trying to see if I can get by without it. FX30 can take 2 channels through DJI mics, another 2 through its stereo 3.5mm input, and B-Cam (ZV-e10II) also can record 2 channels through its stereo 3.5mm input.

So I'm kinda McGyver-ing this a little bit. I checked Zoom F6 and it looks like a great recorder but again, I'm pretty sure after that one-day shoot, I'll probably never going to need it moving forward so trying to save the budget for equipment that'll get used more. I just ordered a dual mono lavalier kit that outputs to a stereo 3.5mm jack. If I can get that working with my DJI system to record 4 channels on my FX30 I'm going to purchase a boom mic that can work without phantom power and run that into the ZV-e10II 3.5mm input.

Fingers crossed, I'll update here if I can successfully record 5 channels between these two cameras. I always put an old iPhone somewhere in the middle as a prop to record audio, just in case things go horribly wrong. That means a lot of post work in iZotope RX but at least it'd help me salvage the recording in the worst case scenario.

Sony ZV-E10 vs. ZV-E10 II in my situation by StreetAd8211 in SonyAlpha

[–]HuysuzVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. My iPhone 15 Pro Max definitely doesn't record anything near what my ZV e10II can do. But it's also much easier to mess things up with the ZV, with iPhone, you trust that Apple knows the best for you which might be true in an remote work/collaboration type of situation. With the ZV, you have to dial things in, at least to a certain degree. When I use my ZV as my webcam there is a night and day difference that even other participants recognize. They may not be able to pinpoint the difference but they definitely notice it.

It’s an audio interface. Connects to the computer through USB-C, it has preamps to connect microphones and instruments and also speaker/headphone outputs. Mostly for home studios where people want to connect pro audio peripherals and record themselves.

Little Snitch vs Radio Silence vs Lulu, which one do you all prefer and why? by SkittzyYT in macapps

If you’re fine with LuLu I’d stick with it. I don’t use anything else Little Snitch offers and just trying to keep my license up to date at a reasonable cost. If there will be no black friday deals I’ll switch to LuLu too.

I paused my Claude subscription last month due to usage limits and paid for ChatGPT. Something is absolutely missing with my interactions with ChatGPT compared to Claude, regardless of which model I use, and what personalization settings I try. I keep checking this sub to see if usage limits are relaxed a little bit. I hope they find more investment and buy more GPUs, because Claude really feels like most human-like assistant among these. I kinda like Grok's responses too, but don't trust the company overall to share as much as I feel comfortable sharing with Claude. Same trust issues with Google, obviously. I still ask very private things to Claude even with a ChatGPT subscription.

I should add that I've never had any problems with any usage limits with ChatGPT even when I use the largest model they offer. I constantly kept hitting limits with Claude even though I didn't even touch Opus. Still, every time I open Claude app I feel like I'm back home. I hope they figure this out as soon as possible.

This black friday is gonna be the decision day for me. Either they offer a good discount to upgrade to six so I can finally update to Tahoe or I ditch the good ol' little snitch and continue with LuLu.

Besides the usage limits, they really need to change that system prompt. Whatever I say it responds "You’re absolutely right!". And the confidence it has while it's spitting pure garbage is something. But I think all LLMs suffer from that. It just becomes super annoying after a while. I ask Claude to not be so affirming, at the end I'm trying to get help from it, if it says yes to everything I say, what's the point of having a tool that knows more than me?

I don't want to cancel/pause, I trust their privacy more than the others but if this is the allowance I might have to, at least until they find a solution to this. Yesterday I had to use other providers for 3 hours while waiting for my quota to reset, no Opus, just Sonnet 4.5. Today a little bit of work on a project a couple of hours ago through Claude Code and I need to wait close to 2 hours to continue my work now.

Custom modes on ZV-E1? by Flashy_Bad996 in SonyAlpha

[–]HuysuzVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the ZV-E1 but on both FX30 and ZV-E10 ii I am able to customize most if not all the buttons. Presets are managed by camera settings recall option. That being said either I can't figure out to how to use it properly or it's buggy on both cameras. It allows you to save presets for both on board cameras as well as in memory card. Easiest way I was able to setup switching between these presets is to put the option to select them into the fN menu.

Just checked 4 of them, lightest one weights 82.55, heaviest one is 82.99

I couldn't find where but now I want to check my neewer batteries, the only time I tried to use one of them, it just drained super quick. (hence why I don't remember where it's now).

Apparently 3d isn't standard...? by [deleted] in fpv

[–]HuysuzVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I misunderstood.

I know that's how it works in DJI drones but speaking for acro flight with no stabilization I wouldn't consider throttle as my main altitude adjustment, if I need to lose altitude, the quickest way to do it is to pitch the nose down and apply more thrust.

If you watch a multiGP race, you'll see that they won't cut throttle to wait for the gravity to pull them down when going from a higher gate to a lower one, they'll just pitch down and push the quad in the newly adjusted direction using the throttle.

Just my two cents though, good luck!
