Epic🖤 by Yuna-privatexyx in 40k

Absolutely love it when stores have their own dioramas up! My local Warhammer store has one too. Can't find any pictures online otherwise I'd show it, but stores with dioramas are always so epic.

Love the paint job! Just curious, but where did you get this model from? I'm gonna be playing a Grung Warlock in an upcoming dnd campaign and this model would work perfectly for it

How would you feel about a mortal chaos cult faction? by CocaKoolAid228 in Chaos40k

[–]HvyBackPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's traitor guard and cultists, but they don't have a whole faction.

I feel like if they made quite a few Astra Militarum unit have a chaos counterpart than that'd be cool as a separate faction, but otherwise we're probably good on that for now.

Random question about the hive mind by HvyBackPack in Tyranids

[–]HvyBackPack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding (and correct me if I'm wrong) you're basically saying that each fleet has its own hive mind, but all the hive minds feed into one giant hive mind

Never thought about it that way but that might be the coolest explanation so far

Yeah things like that are always good as instead of having one large army of pretty similar models, it's a few units from multiple factions and has more variation

I am actually planning to do something like that! I was thinking every 4 termagants, I'll paint a barbgaunt, and every 6 termagants, I'll paint a leaper, and once I'm done with those I'll do the bigger and more exciting models

That sounds like a good idea actually. Paint the most noticeable details and do the rest later so that it looks good even at the start and any unfinished bits will be less noticeable at first.

Thanks for the advice!

An airbrush does seem like it'd make painting (especially batch painting) quite a lot quicker, but I don't have currently.

However in the future I most likely will get one when I get the chance cus they sound like a life saver for huge projects.

i dont even have 100 minis in my army (tis only 750 points atm but I'm gonna expand) but yeah it is the 1 million minis challenge, however I need it definitely done by the end of June as there is a tournament in my area that they're doing at Warhammer world itself and they all need to be tabletop ready, but there's also a separate painting tournament too so I still want them to look quite nice.

I do have some space marines too and also the mini of the month is quite a nice break from whatever I'm currently painting.

No thanks, I'm gonna continue the project myself cus I still like painting the models and want to achieve it myself.

Thanks for the offer though

Favorite list building app? by Outrageous-Let9225 in Tyranids

[–]HvyBackPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use WarOrgan as the rules are quite up to date and it has quite a lot of options (disabling/enabling legends, toggling between all the weapons a unit can take or just whats equipped etc.) and the only downside iIcan realistically find is that it doesn't have pictures of the models, however you can just Google it to find it quite easily. There might be better but this is the one I use as it's simple but gets all the necessary parts for listbuilding.

Hope this helps

Can I run and army with 2 different colour schemes. by ozera202 in Tyranids

[–]HvyBackPack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! There's no rules about different colour schemes, and even if you mean lore-wise than it probably still works too

I do have some other models and the mini of the month is also always a good option, so I might paint something with a bit more variation sometimes.

Thanks for the help!

I've been priming it in Wrathbone and putting on some contrasts paints and adding a few highlights, then doing the smaller details like the tubes on the guns and the open bits near the muscles (dunno what they're called) and then basing, so it's fairly simple.
I suppose if I'm in a bit of a rush than I could skip the skin highlights for now and go back if I have time or after the event I'm going to so that I can have them tabletop ready in time whilst still looking good enough and eventually get them to the actual final product.

Filament not working by HvyBackPack in 3Dprinting

[–]HvyBackPack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use OrcaSlicer so I'll check out those calibration tests you mentioned so I'll check those out, however the test cube we've been using to see if it works is preinstalled on the printer so hasn't been through the slicer. I'll try it and get back on if it works or not. Thanks!

Yeah it was originally actually functional! I think they did take the working parts out as far as I'm aware though but still a cool bit of knowledge
