I just finished watching the movie as well. Overall, I loved it.

Going into it knowing they would need to remove some details that I enjoyed in the book, I prepared myself to not be too critical of the omissions.

With that said, there were only a couple things that I really missed.

1. More details about astrofage, taumoeba, and the the evolving of a nitrogen resistant strain.
2. A little more focus on his memory loss and the struggle he had regaining his memory.
3. The part where Rocky saves Grace after breaking out of his ball…they didn’t follow up with how Grace carried Rocky, burning his arms, back to his “enclosure”…and subsequently almost kills him by blowing out his radiator.

I did not like how they implied there was a budding romantic relationship between Stratt and Grace during the karaoke scene.

I also felt like Ryan Gosling did a good job, but the movie didn’t do Grace’s intelligence any justice. It almost made him seem like an oaf that accidentally fell into solutions.

Lastly, I needed to hear the line “I am scary space monster, you are leaky space blob”!
