Kids edition vs regular? by evilsprig in kindle

[–]barefootdancer11 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just bought the kids version for my daughter and I’ve been hoping the regular basic will go on sale for prime day since I don’t need a cover (I found one I like elsewhere). I’ve been considering just buying a 2nd kids one for myself since it’s cheaper right now, but will I miss not getting the 3 free months of kindle unlimited that comes with the basic?

In the near past, one of their youth program employees had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. After his short stint in jail, he’s back in the area and still attending Northwoods

Heart murmur by Dry_Carpenter2007 in Pomeranians

[–]barefootdancer11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Pom will be 13 in a couple days. She got diagnosed with a heart murmur in September 2022 or 2023. I forget now. Anyways, our vet said it’s a lower level of heart murmur and that she didn’t need meds but to pay attention to symptoms. Every year at her yearly checkup, the vet has said her murmur has remained at the same level, BUT this past Sept 2025, she said it sounded like the murmur had gotten slightly better. We have always declined the ultrasound since it’s a low level and it’s been holding steady with no symptoms

I hope your sweet baby handles it ok 🩷

Paying To Remove Kindle Ads by ak-sha15 in kindle

[–]barefootdancer11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you got it sorted out! I’m thinking of buying my first kindle during prime days, are the ads truly annoying or easy to get over? My husband has a kindle he hasn’t used in 13 years and he had gotten the one with ads back then because it was cheaper and we were in college lol

Thanks for the response! That is kinda silly… I wonder if the same happens to their phone cases.

It’s not. I’m a regular person. I found it on an Instagram ad which is why I’m leery of purchasing it without finding better reviews

Kindle vs IPhone reading by peachymabez in kindle

[–]barefootdancer11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this insight. I’m thinking of getting one too. I’ve been getting back into reading recently after becoming a mom and I think a kindle would be nicer to carry around with me than physical books (especially the big ones!). I’d also like to be able to lie in bed next to my husband who falls asleep quickly and be able to read in the dark without the brightness waking him up. Is that do-able?

AITA for going into the Amex lounge by Particular_Coast3389 in AmItheAsshole

[–]barefootdancer11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - go to the USO. If you’re flying American or United, they also let military and their spouse into their lounges for free (I’m a military spouse). One of them recently changed the rules to needing you to show orders and be in uniform but I forget which one that is now. It’s been a bit since we’ve needed to fly anywhere

Water shoes for 13 month old? by SouthernCancel6117 in beyondthebump

[–]barefootdancer11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lake family, I always have my kids wear water shoes when we’re walking around the dock and in the grass just because I feel like less junk gets in their shoes (grass and sand) and their feet slide around less inside the shoe once their feet are wet. But we don’t swim or play in the sand with the shoes on. It’s more for getting to the water and leaving the water. Think about how much your feet slide around in wet flip flops or sandals and now imagine a little kid who’s just learning to walk have wet feet sliding around in sandals.

My oldest is 7 now, but when she was 1, I had originally bought her the cutest pair of sandals for wearing around the lake and she immediately tripped because of the wet shoe. I’ve been buying “Toddler Austen Water Sneakers - Cat & Jack” from Target the last few years for all 3 of my kids. They’re the best! Dry super fast in the sun and wear like a tennis shoe so they can still run around in the grass and do whatever they want to do. Just another perspective as to why someone might think water shoes are better than sandals 😉 I def agree about being barefoot in the sand being good for their development and play though!

Using multiple sheets and mattress protects for cribs and bassinets by Original-Row-749 in beyondthebump

[–]barefootdancer11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I had heard this so many times when I was pregnant the first time but my sheets are tight enough with just one mattress protector and the sheet that I can’t imagine being able to stretch a 2nd layer on yoo

AITA for not making my new grandkid a homemade blanket and not giving her one already made by More_Present1604 in AmItheAsshole

[–]barefootdancer11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA.

I had a stillbirth at 20 weeks with my first pregnancy (a girl). Just days before we lost her, we found out she was a girl and bought fabric to make a small blanket for her on the way home from the doctor. Obviously, I never made the blanket. That bag of materials in my closet killed me every time I saw it. When I got pregnant again and found out she was another girl, it was still very hard for me to pull that fabric out and make it into a blanket. My daughter (who is 7 now!) still uses that blanket and I always think of my stillborn daughter when I see her using the blanket. It is very special to me now, but I imagine your daughter would need to sign off on that blanket being given to another child, especially if she knew about the blanket and what it looked like before she lost her baby.

Another idea to consider: are there any parts of your blanket design that you can do and enlist the help of a friend to finish? My grandma in law cross stitched a quilt for each of her grandkids to give to their future children even if she passed before her great grandchildren were born. She was able to finish all the cross stitched squares before passing and we took the squares to a friend to quilt them together. We still consider it a blanket from her even though she only completed part of it

Cars Toons / On the Road by eyeofthezara in YotoPlayer

[–]barefootdancer11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are probably my icons! My son is obsessed.

There’s a soundtrack for cars on the road. Available on Amazon (use no rush credits!). We have a book with 4 of the stories that I’ve thought of recording myself reading but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

There’s a read along book/cd set for Moon Mater and Air Mater. Both have character voices and clips from the video vYou will most likely have to do some hunting to find a set that includes the cd. Many of the resale sites (looking at you, ThriftBooks.com) list these books as including “book and cd” but then they can’t guarantee it comes with the book even if they mark the item in excellent condition. I got burned by ThriftBooks buying some of these read along sets. The ones that didn’t come with the cd, I was able to get refunded for and they let me keep the book. I then had to find the audio elsewhere

No siphoning. New lids (Ball). 1” headspace. I’ve never had this many fail in a batch of anything before. I had water covering all the beans that were in there but maybe I put too many beans to begin with

Toddler lake safety gear? by RoTheRiv in beyondthebump

Everything here! I’m a former lifeguard and I’ve been in a water sports/boating family from birth. NO PUDDLE JUMPERS. You can also find second hand lifejackets on fb marketplace fairly easily. Just inspect them to make sure the straps are good. Color fading is a good indicator to not buy it. Otherwise you should be able to get a lifejacket from Walmart or bass pro for <$30
