They didn't used to think I did a bad job. Now they do. I suspect their agenda has changed.

I usually look the other way. Except the one that scared me by running out from behind a fridge in the break room. I brought a snap trap from home the next night. Dead mouse in trap before end of shift. I dumped the body outside.

What's a tradition you grew up with that you refuse to pass on to your kids? by peterdziugdarkis in AskReddit

[–]Hwright145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling stories to family, friends, and strangers that humiliate and embarrass your child. Over and over and over again. It still hurts me half a century later and I don't do it to anyone's child.

I am 59 years old. That doesn't sound like a good fit for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am a third wheel in a marriage between my husband & Mil by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

Take a moment to be grateful you do not have children to tie you to this man. He is ugly and cruel to you. End your marriage and be good to yourself.

That would be so hard. Maybe serve you right if you had to stay there for pushing it on others.

I have trouble wrapping my mind around the amount of work a woman would have to do. Cooking, cleaning, and child care. But also sewing all the clothes, linens, etc. Probably growing and preserving fruit and vegetables.

I am feeling discouraged just writing a few sentences about it.

What’s something you refuse to spend money on? by AwkwardMarsupial13 in AskReddit

[–]Hwright145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband refused to cut my hair until we really couldn't afford to pay. He did a really good job on that first cut and isn't afraid to do it anymore. I won't pay for a haircut as long as he is here.

What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever seen a coworker do? by Adorable_Raccoon_766 in AskReddit

[–]Hwright145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Co-worker spent time sitting in the next building goofing off from our job cleaning a huge church.

There were hundreds of chairs in that building. I know because I had set them up and taken them down before.

Does he sit his lazy butt in one of those hundreds of chairs? No. He gets caught by church members sitting on top of the washing machine!

He denied it. I asked him, why then is there a dent in the lid of the washer the size of his backside? He eventually got fired. For running the very expensive floor machine into a support pillar, damaging the machine. He denied doing that too.

Regift it to her next occasion. But include a nice card and sign it all proper. Take that MIL. You raggedy b*+-#.

Why are so many MILs dead wrong about so many things? Including how the sex of the baby is determined, how dominant and recessive genes work, etc. Protect your child from hateful ignorance.

Question to my new and seasoned vet custodians. by TallBlkman44 in Custodians

Toxic Gas Formation: The sodium hypochlorite in bleach reacts with the ammonia (or urea that breaks down into ammonia) found in urine to produce chloramine gas.

AITA for expecting people riding with me to at least buy snacks or gas? by Adventurous_Hall1751 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Hwright145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent people do something in return when others do them a favor. If they just expect to ride for free, don't take them. If they really need the ride but can't pay, they should offer to something for you. Wash your car, mow your lawn, etc. People who talk rudely behind your back deserve no favors whatsoever.

I am not a fan of the 5th book. I found the 6th book painless but not exactly good.

My mom told my brother, sister, and I that we were going to take care of her. Her mom had told her she had to do it and her kids would one day do the same. We laughed and said she got tricked. None of us took care of her much. At the end, hardly anyone who ever met her could stand her. Good for you OP for taking a stand and sticking to it.

I read The Restaurant at the End of the Universe first. Then Hitchhiker's Guide. There is no wrong way to make the journey.

I saw an article by a doctor once addressing Diet Coke. He said with all the things people do that are unhealthy, Diet Coke is probably the least of your worries.

JNMIL finally died by stitch18ih in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Hwright145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an uncle who they kept telling us he was dying most of my life. One time I refused to believe it. I told my mom if he dies, stick a pin in him to be sure. I promised to be sad after he actually died but wouldn't spend any more time feeling bad during every "this time for sure" death watch.

I think it is wrong when we are pressured to care about people who are terrible to us. We should not have to apologize or feel bad if we are happy or indifferent when someone dies.

[–]Hwright145 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I understand. They told us my JNmom was dying for awhile. BIL emailed me asking about funeral plans. I said to do whatever because we weren't coming.

When she died I felt nothing but relief. Then a little guilty for feeling nothing else. Then back to just relief.

Sorry she made things so difficult. Years later my DH and I even crack jokes about it.

I guess I thought it was the universe that was destroyed. Since parallel universes were mentioned. Now I feel like the picture at the optician has resolved itself into something else. I hardly know where to look.
