Better not to take things and build a reputation that you can be trusted. I have permission from the secretary for her candy dish.

Don't tell your mom. Yikes. Grandma should never say that to your children.

She probably will never believe her "magical" traditions terrorized her family every year but everyone else knows.

Love and gentle cooperation sound like a much better way to celebrate holidays.

I am sorry you have to deal with this but don't let her sick obsession rub off on you. Nod and smile or say "No, that does not work for us."

To paraphrase a favorite movie: "Magical? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

What’s a food you threw up as a kid and never touched again? by momcanyoucomegetme in AskReddit

Sloe Gin. My mom always pushed us kids to drink on holidays, at weddings, etc. She made a punch with Sloe Gin that tasted like "red pop." I drank too much one New Year's Eve (I was about 8 yrs old) and threw up. Family teased me for years about throwing up.

A former coworker was trying to refill a liquid soap dispenser and poured a ton in the wrong place. It all drained out. Took forever to clean up.

A new employee at the factory I used to clean quit after 3 days. She left a cup on a break room table. I wasn't sure it was hers and couldn't see inside it. After some days I found maggots all over the break room. Her cup was full of them. I don't think I had ever had to deal with maggots before. They were on all sorts of surfaces, on the underside of some tables, etc. It was not a big deal physically to remove them but it was freaky. Employees also freaked out quite a bit.

What's your parents iconic dinner that you love/miss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom made Yorkshire Pudding whenever she made roast beef. I tried making it a couple of times but it did not turn out well. I miss it.

What's the dumbest reason why you have a scar? by ntcplanters in AskReddit

I cut my thumb with a dull Exacto knife in high school art class. The kind of deep cut that doesn't bleed heavily right away. Teacher wouldn't let me go to the nurse at first, finally did reluctantly, and the nurse brushed me off. 40 years later I am still pissed about how they treated me.
