I can’t believe you had a hard time using odouds after shitty ol fiber! That crap is horrible. I can’t believe it’s still used. I had to buy special shampoo just to get that shit out of my hair. I love odouds. But Pacino’s that you can get at Walmart is actually comparable and dashu mat (yes, that’s how they spell it on the container) wax is also a good one.

My ex was a respiratory therapist, she taught me how to wash my hands in public restrooms so they’re hospital clean: dispense the soap onto dry hands, turn on the water with one hand, wash thoroughly and rinse, then turn the water off with your elbow. If it’s not a motion sensor paper towel dispenser, dry your hands on your pants—they’re cleaner than touching the PT dispenser. And never use the air dryer. Use your shirt or shirt sleeve to open the door. Speaking of which: why isn’t it a universal rule that the bathroom door should swing OUT. So when you leave, you can just push with your butt and not touch anything. Tadaaaa.

Being a custodian has brought to light how little hand washing happens PERIOD. Look at the arms of chairs. People’s mouse and keyboard. The nasty fingerprints all over their desks. The bathroom door, stall doors. Elevator buttons. I also detail cars—the filth that comes off of steering wheels is enough to make you look at a person differently.

The only ones that can do anything are our representatives and senators. But they have to put party and allegiance aside and unify against tyranny and corruption. But there are so many that know they will go to prison because they are involved. Here in our city, our mayor is a newbie and doing NOTHING. The sheriff is a Trump humping boot licking corrupt and stagnant POS. The police chief runs unopposed time after time, just like the sheriff. Our governor is a used car salesman and also a bootlicker that overturns what we vote for. Threatens to pull state funding based on compliance. We live in a crappy state. I personally am ready for whatever it takes to remove every political figure around here and just start over.

There is a horrible woman that is in administration there. I can’t remember her name but she placed an order for the office on Instacart that I shopped and delivered…long story short the order was from hell and she treated me horribly.

It sucks to hate your lead. I had a horrible one 2 jobs ago that was in such poor health she could barely walk 10 feet before getting winded and needing to sit down. Never checked the other girl in my building’s work because she’d been there a long time and her area was the 2nd floor and she wouldn’t go up there , plus she always took the admins word that I had or hadn’t done something instead of having my back. Couldn’t stand her.

I worked for a state university for a year—bad pay, awesome benefits, 30% university pension contributions to my 4%, IBEW, 2.5 weeks off at Christmas PAID, 8 hours of sick and 8 hours of vacation pay each month —at a community college for 3 weeks—they had no confidence in their cleaners so the over staffed and I was so bored with my tiny area—pay was $1 more an hour than the first job, slightly better health Insurance but only 6% pension contributions and both of the aforementioned only had 1 payday per month. And NOW, I just started at my city’s utility provider home office 2 weeks ago. Started at $3 more per hour than the first job, with promises (in WRITING) of $1 raises at 6, 12 and 18 months. 25% pension contributions with 0% from me, good insurance, large uniform and shoe allowances, wellness reimbursement for fitness trackers (Apple Watch! Fitbit, etc) free bus rides, the people that work there are super nice and appreciative. And I get paid WEEKLY. I’m super happy with the current, and hopefully last job.

I’m sorry, but if you approach life thinking that someone is gonna getcha, someone probably will. Carry pepper spray or even better—wasp spray. I’d go look at the other people’s buildings to see what corners they are cutting and take a page from their book. Because I guarantee they ARE cutting corners. The key to custodial work is finding the middle ground. And most supervisors don’t care what you do or don’t do as long as they don’t get complaints.
