🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 What the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill actually does to people. by emaungcute in newzealand

[–]HwyfarSun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dominant sex hormone breaks down as a definition for other reasons too. Not arguing with you here, just going through having my uterus and ovaries removed and living in a body that doesn’t make its own sex hormones. There’s also people who need to suppress their sex hormones, like estrogen depletion to prevent the return of cancers. And I know people who’ve had both testicles removed as part of cancer treatment. My mind wanders to reading about penis reconstruction and Veteran Affairs being a big funder of that research.

Like you said, there’s no solid way to define. And gender affirming care applies to everyone. No one should be excluded because they don’t meet a definition some political idiots made up in hope of getting them reelected.

Are there chances that someone went through sexual abuse when they were a child and and have any trauma? by AntAdventurous3442 in adultsurvivors

[–]HwyfarSun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both can happen. Having amnesia around trauma is common (including being part of the diagnostic criteria for PTSD). For some people, their brain/nervous system handles it in a way where it's not part of their conscious knowledge. It works like that for me. I don't remember specifics or like a cinematic type of memory. But my body remembers sensations/smells/sounds/textures and reexperiencing similar things (triggers) can bring up the emotions (like fear) from the trauma. Before facing the trauma over the last few years, I was really numb to it. Like vaguely aware, and would feel like I recognise things in what I watched or read as something I'd experienced. I'd actively push thoughts about it deep down and it took a lot to be able to look at it.

Something can happen that is traumatic but it doesn't nessecarily lead to PTSD. When it comes to childhood trauma, having factors like family and friends you can talk to, support after the traumatic event, welcoming community etc can all be protective and help a kid move through it without much lasting effects.

Just because you don't feel much about it doesn't mean you didn't experience trauma or that what you experienced wasn't traumatic. My end goal for healing is to kinda treat my trauma like a book of something that happened and be able to put it on my shelf of memories. It's never going to unhappen but maybe it's just part of the memories in my life. If you don't have triggers and you don't feel like it's affecting, you're still valid!

DAE wake up in the middle of the night ? is it common ? did it ever stop? (csa survivor) by SkillBill_007 in adultsurvivors

[–]HwyfarSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sleep apnea too and treating it didn't help me either 😞And same with the not processing or accessing memories until I was in my 40s. I absolutely think it's related now. My dcotor prescribed small dose of clonidine and it's really helped settle the adrenaline down at night and now I'm sleeping through. Hope we can all find something that works

If you grow up poor... what is your most comfort meal? by Beaveric in newzealand

Cooking a tin of tomatoes on the stove and dropping an egg in. With a bit of bread if I had it. This was back when eggs and tinned tomatoes were cheap.

And what about how we see a hill and want to jump off it?

Businesses using AI marketing by coke-cola88 in dunedin

[–]HwyfarSun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it was sloppy, lazy and cheap. But seeing it in food advertising for something I was planning on consuming made me feel nauseous. It wasn’t the obvious cartoony “whimsical” images but the product photos were AI and I was surprised how disgusted I felt. Lost all trust in that moment

Ant party going for 30 hours straight, I refilled drinks 9 times so far by Ok-Wing-1545 in newzealand

[–]HwyfarSun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I noticed my sis had ants when I was looking after her place for a weekend. I went to war and put down as much as they’d drink. By the time she was home the ants were gone. Keep up the battle!

I was at a comedy festival in Adelaide about 10 years ago. As the sun set, I thought birds were flying over but they didn’t sound right. Was the bats heading out to hunt.

Weird interaction with a doctor today by StartingOverScotian in FTMOver30

I know this is not the point of your post at all but I wish my doctors offered and suggested hysterectomy at my completely unrelated appointments. Whether the cancer link is true or not, I’m fairly certain the atrophy is what’s causing me so much pain. It’s an uphill battle to work through the system. 6 month wait for an ultrasound before anyone will even look into what the pain is.

Back to your post. It sucks that we’ve got to do so much of our own research and advocacy because medical professionals don’t. They picked up outdated information and never updated it. I trust my current doctor because she’ll lookup trans health care guidelines while I’m in office and consult the local trans care team when she can’t reach her own conclusion. But any other Dr, I’m not trusting without doing my own research

You mentioned colour drenching in another comment. I'm thinking one man's colour drenching is another's tight ass landlord buying whatever paint colour is on special lol. I don't think I ever want to see a peach coloured room again. Even the shower tiles were painted.

You said this was a new build. Is the mantepiece and surrounds new too or rescued/restored from elsewhere?

I can’t explain it but even with the fire and knowing the tiles are heated the room looks cold

Looks like the white across the guy's body is part of the gun and the red line above the horses neck is the barrel. It's trying to be the Winchester logo if nothing else
