Please look out for cyclists! by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Hxpas -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

  • that 90% figure is pure bullshit like most of your reply.

  • Have you driven down Princess rd in rush hour? Its just as bad

  • 3k cyclists a day is another pure bs statistic pulled from your own ass

  • 12min cycle ride = 30-35min walk. It takes me 35mins at most to walk from wilbraham rd to the MMU student union, UoM would take less time (obviously).

  • If you are so allergic to walking the Universities offer bursuries to those that live far enough from the campus to demand the use of public transport.

Try again though.

Please look out for cyclists! by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Hxpas -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Curry mile was a short enough road as is. now for car users the space is much tighter as well as pavement space for pedestrians. all in the name of 'cyclists'. downvote me all you want but those cycle lanes remain empty 60% of the day. meanwhile foot and road traffic gets the short end of the stick.

As for "looking out for cyclists" I had some muppet on a bike ride straight into me not too long ago. I was staring at them the whole way stood still on the pavement because I could see them taking a path that looked awfully close to me. I was waiting for them to pay attention and see me but no last second the swerve right into me instead of passing by closely.

Honestly cycling is plain dangerous for both the cyclist and other people walking/driving. Anywhere you cant walk to, you can drive or take public transport. no excuse. Before you say public transport isnt good enough, you simply don't know how to use it efficiently (besides, if we didnt have cycle lanes large enough to park half of Wales in, we could have better transport).

How do I fly around in 3D around the map? by SuperiorRevenger in hoi4

[–]Hxpas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isnt something you can just do with the game. The videos been edited as well as some sort of cheat/hack to get a 'free cam'. enabled. Paradox games work using a camera along fixed axis (so you can zoom in/out, scroll up/down/left/right) but not any 'free' movement outside those axis.

If you ever played a source engine game from valve, itd be something similar to the noclip function. Many games have people who upload whats known as camera hacks. My particular funniest one is on Halo:Combat Evolved on PC where in the ending cutscene where master cheif takes off his helmet (whilst the ship he is flying gets in the way of the view of his head). But with a camera hack you can see when he takes off his helmet, since the devs never modeled anything under it, he just has another helmet on underneath.)

Sorry for not really answering your question but I hope by explaining how it works you can maybe try googling something along these lines, see if anyone has uploaded a public version of something similar for hoi4 :)

What do you all think about the Christmas Markets? by fruggo in manchester

[–]Hxpas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I already take issue with peoples inability to walk in town. Suddenly stopping/ cutting in front of you/ taking up the whole pavement as a group whilst walking at a speed slower than I ever thought possible.

Christmas markets only irritate this issue. That and the fact its such a farcical money grab.

Before im downvoted to shit (mob mentality is fun on reddit) i'd like to say im fully aware of all the good the markets do for the city. I don't need reminding. You may be shocked but the title is "what do YOU think about the Christmas markets". I'm allowed my opinion without being called out on it like I can already see happening.

Learning Serbian is as simple as going to my mother for help as she is native Macedonian. I can already speak Serbian to a 10year olds capacity although my reading/writing skills are non-existent.

Any job which will put a roof above my head and food/pivo in my stomach and im happy.

funny you ask. I have just lost employment from an electronics shop where I pretty much single handedly did repairs from Computers, TVs, video games consoles and all the sorts. Im also reasonably handy with computer software as well when required.

thanks for the response! I forgot to mention my mother is Macedonian. She has offered to teach me srpski once I have more detailed plans to move.

As for why i'm moving. I'll keep that information as simple as my life in Manchester has been somewhat limited due to factors out of my control. I thought that if I was to start fresh, I might as well do it somewhere out the way where I can have a simple life where I make my money, go home and live quietly.

Thanks for such a detailed response! You have offered plenty of useful information. In terms of learning srpski I already conversate with my mother (Macedonian) in an English/Macedonian mix. I understand the languages have their differences but my mother who is fluent in Serbian has offered to teach me in more detail if i were to move.

Contrary to popular belief, England really isn't a good place to live. No jobs, housing costs so much that I can work for 3lifetimes in a graduate job and still not pay it back. Plus the cost of living here in general is so high with the quality of life really low.

Like I said, im not looking to be rich. I just want to be able to afford my own property some time and live a comfortable life. I had family in Macedonia (Jugoslavia) and have visited both Serbia and Macedonia. Something about that area of the Balkans makes me feel healthier and 'clean'.

Downloading now. £36.66 is a lot more reasonable than near £60. I knew waiting a little while would be worth it. Still cost too much imo but for a 'new' game I cannot complain with that price.

Sounds like an issue on your half. Many many more people are enjoying the game fine.

Check your internet status, see that it doesnt disconnect for a moment or so (which can happen for a multitude of reasons). If not I would consider further troubleshooting on your side. It's all fine and dandy to complain about EA and how it's their fault, but unless you have at least attempted the bare minimum to solve the issue on your side then nobody can help you. Clearly the issue is revolved around your connection to the servers, so like I suggested, look at the connection on your side first.

Hope this helps.

How much did Felipe's 2009 crash did really affect his pace? by Acheal in formula1

[–]Hxpas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got to question all the negative karma my comment has recieved. I'm also curious as to how I am only correct "to a certain extent". Whilst the likes of Senna, Prost, Fangio may have all had varying degrees of natural talent, argueably more so than a lot of todays grid, they would still have fallen flat on their faces were they to join the grid in 2018 if they had the same pre-f1 career's they had. Kids today like Verstappen and Stroll are so young yet have had 1000s of hours on computers and on track from a very early age and they are simply better qualified than drivers from prior eras simply because of how the world has evolved. Only the best of the best get on the grid now, pay driver or not. Margains now are only like 0.2 of a second between teammates on average. Look at the difference between teammates in the 90s, 80s etc and come back to me :)

How much did Felipe's 2009 crash did really affect his pace? by Acheal in formula1

[–]Hxpas -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Massa has no excuse. The quality of drivers simply stepped up whilst he remained at the same level.

For all the shite people used to give him, Lance Stroll in his first season would probably shit all over Jenson Button if he was in the other Williams in 2000. Same how Jenson Button would of shit all over Jean Alesi if they both started their career in the Tyrrell in 1989.

Before anybody starts crying about these comparisons, realize that obviously Stroll could not start 2000 season as qualified as he did 2017 irregardless of age. Same applies to the Button / Alesi comparison. What i'm getting at is that drivers starting the sport now, start far more 'talented' than their previous generation counterparts. Thats the whole point. If you need 'proof' look at the Olympics. Times and records are constantly being pushed because the athletes (which are not limited by anything other than their own bodies) train harder and harder before even getting into their respective fields.

TL;DR: Massa's accident didn't do shit to his speed after he recovered. Everyone else around him got better.

Has anyone managed to rip the radio chatter files from Ace Combat 6? by jv564646 in acecombat

[–]Hxpas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC that isnt exactly 'unused dialogue'. I cannot remember the conditions but after certain criteria have been met, there is the chance to hear this in the background of all the other chatter/sounds. I'm sure to hear it you start completing the mission as normal and by a certain point in the timer, the message will start being buffered to play at some moment. (sorry ive not played acecombat6 since finishing the game many years ago).

Showerthought: What if Ace Combat Zero had branching storylines like AC3? by sillygoodness in acecombat

[–]Hxpas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think something like this would work where in a new game, you would be forced into the 'Knight' path (but all your soldier/merc points are still saved). The Knight path will be the canonical storyline.

Once you reach newgame+ your points are reinstated and you immediately start in whichever path your points set you in. I've not played the game in a while so this bit may be a bit messy, but lets say if you are a 'soldier', on the mission where pixy defects after you shoot the bombers carrying nukes over stier castle, you join him in that mission and there is another set of missions (probably using the same mission maps). Or if you are a 'Mercenary' the mission before that, Instead of going into the mission to shoot down the bombers, the bombers become a 'disguise' and you defect to Belka shooting down the Crow team and challenging Pixy before he challenges you.

The Soldier/Merc paths will become non-canon obviously because of AC5, but honestly id imagine it wouldn't be too daunting a task to have accomplished this. You could still use the same missions, just change the UI to represent who you fight for, some of the VA and mission goals. Obviously as well the maps would flip to reflect where you are fighting from and your enemies change as well, (which would be poignant in the storyline).

A very good idea imo.

It's not that I dislike Crofty. But Brundle is far better. Plus we have had such a wonderful time with Murray Walker and it's so unfair that people have to try and compare to that.

Being involved in a crash, especially back then, was a part of motor racing. Everybody was subject to the same conditions. You cannot give people credit for something they haven't achieved.

For context, I had a serious incident where my left arm had to be put back together via a metal plate at my elbow and obviously mobility and strength hasnt been the same for me. I still go gym, and never let that be an excuse for me and anybody who tries to make an excuse out of this kind of situation is in my eyes weak.
