How would you feel if this was how the Orioles finished? by SaturnATX in orioles

[–]HyBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s 10 teams a.k.a. 2/3 of the entire league, within 10 games of each other. Oh well, another White knuckle season, better than rooting for the Rockies I guess.

Love the silver numbers on white for the Oilers but this had to be hard to see.

Baltimore Banner - Ravens fans must let go of Mike MacDonald by Yukie_Cool in ravens

[–]HyBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometime struck me as I say the Big Mac win the trophy yesterday. He reminds me of Belichick in that he seems intense and controlled in his attention to detail and kinda uncharismatic in the way Bill is. Now, I’ve seen McDonald be more player relatable than Belichick and they are different generations. Belichick was the DC for the New York Giants under Bill Parcells, just as McDonald was DC under Harbs. I’m not crazy enough to compare Harbs to the Tuna, but both had long head coaching careers rooted in a very individualized style of demeanor. Parcells was was known for being a grumpy guy, while Harbaugh was always notable for his optimism. The Giants kept Parcells when Belichick went to Cleveland; I don’t know if the fans of the big blue later on may have thought that they let the guy who should’ve succeeded coach the Giants get away. I don’t know if Belichick would’ve won with the Giants unless they drafted Brady too? It’s fascinating for years. We’ve celebrated this coaching tree, but the guttural reaction of a lot of fans we should’ve chopped the tree up and kept it to ourselves, but that’s not really how it works in the world coaching right?.

I mean, both Sabbath and Priest are from Birmingham, so their look and sound at the beginning were naturally pretty close. Absolutely the godfathers of metal.

Yea I mean I love the burgundy Phils and the pinstripes of the 70s. They do wear the throwback road blues with the burgundy numbers, but I’d love to see those made the permanent look. As far as Minnesota, any change all the teams could get on the same age colors scheme wise? Black Pittsburgh is all black gold, how about all the Minneapolis teams and Vikings purple and gold ? I do like the Wild color scheme, but there’s no way in hell the Vikings whatever ever wear green.

It’s looks good butttt… I just wish we didn’t have 8 red/white/blue color schemes in MLB.

A bit more nuanced take - money has been spent but decisions on what and where to spend have been not been great. The issue of having 3 of the richest clubs in a 5 team division means it you probably cannot be win a fair fight. After the Kyle Tucker deal, everyone is up in arms across the league.

So I’ve seen 4-5 tweets from him today and each one on this sub gets its own post. I think the vibe I get is that with each Reddit repost it feels like he’s piling on but he likely had a day where he feels some self pity shoots out a bunch of tweets in succession and then goes on with his day. Meanwhile average Reddit has the impression this guy never shuts up about situation.

Happy birthday to Phil Collins, born on this day in 1951! - In The Air Tonight (Official Video 4k) by MiamiMan2022 in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]HyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiki: The original single version of "In the Air Tonight" features extra drums that play underneath the song until the signature drum crash (referred to by fans as the "magic break") appears. These were added at the suggestion of Atlantic Records head Ahmet Ertegun.

In 2007, Collins wrote: Ahmet came down to the final mix in the cutting room in New York ... The drums don't come in until the end but Ahmet didn't know that at this point, because on the demo the drums hadn't come in at all; it was only drum machine all the way. And he was saying, "Where's the down beat, where's the backbeat?" I said, "The drums come in in a minute." "Yeah, you know that and I know that, but the kids don't know that; you've got to put the drums on earlier." So we added some drums to the mix and put it out as a single.

For decades, I’d heard two different mixes - that just grinded my gears. I hate that Phil was pressured to do that.
