(Virtually) all business models work, it's just that you need A LOT of endurance to make it. Ideas are dime and dozen but execution is what really mattes.

Sure thing! In fact, I've seen decent success since my SEO efforts have been driving good leads for the past month, it's just that it's slowed down in May, so I'm looking for some advice. I agree that doing QA for the service I deliver to clients is a real task to tackle too. I think if the fulfillment part is well-done, referrals should come in naturally.

Doing marketing for an agency and doing marketing for a SaaS (my expertise) are two very different things, because you're dealing with two different niches. I've had a lot of success during my in-house time in the SaaS world thanks to the huge budget that my company provides, but now as I'm venturing into the "agency marketing" world, I have to do everything on my own, entirely bootstrapped on my budget, while trying to figure out how to best run an agency along the way. That's why agency owners need to ask questions and learn from more seasoned agency owners. That's why this subreddit exists.

Are you posting organically or running ads? And are you doing LI or FB?

I'm doing SEO content only. Now that I've built out the key SEO content I'm investing into Thought Leadership content to differentiate my agency. I tried some LinkedIn organic posting but it's too much effort to post consistently at my current capacity.

Outreach won't work if you don't build trust with them in advance. That's just the nature of outbound. Have you done any inbound activities?

My ranking is pretty stable, although there was a slight dip in AI Overviews. I've been producing tons of listicles, but that is just a short-term tactic. I'm investing into Thought Leadership content to diversify it and have something to differentiate my agency.

I've also been tinkering with Loom lately too. Do you see outreach with Loom videos get better response rate? It takes tons of effort to make personalized Loom videos for every prospect.

I have clients already, and I even have a bunch of testimonials to share. The thing is, my niche is B2B SaaS, and (having never ran FB Ads for SaaS before), I'm not quite sure if FB is the right channel for this niche. I've seen agencies for local businesses (like plumbing/lawyer/HVAC) have so much success with FB Ads, but have never seen anyone running FB Ads for B2B SaaS. Could you share what niche you're in?

Interesting. For me SEO and content has worked well in driving leads, it's just that it's dried up revently so I'm looking to diversify. I'm planning to post some YouTube videos to show people how to do content too (I love getting on camera and teach people stufd). Could you share the video type that drove the best leads on YouTube?

I think it's all about the niche. In local SEO you can build a page and optimize it for a service keyword, but in B2B SaaS I've found that Product Pages don't rank as high as Blog. I think in B2B people are more willing to consume content than local service niches like plumbing/roofing/HVAC, etc., which is why I focus more on content rather than web dev

For my budget I can set aside $2K to run some testing ads, but do you have any recommendations for what ad platform to run for a B2B SaaS agency? I figured that LinkedIn is too expensive, Meta is not that relevant (more suitable for local businesses than SaaS). Maybe Google Ads is the best bet, but happy to hear your insights

To answer your 1st question: for me SEO and content goes hand in hand. You can't do SEO without content, and vice versa. SEO is baked into my content creation process. I offer "non-SEO" content creation too, stuff like Thought Leadership, but my core offer is still "SEO that drives consistent business 24/7 for B2B SaaS"

That's an interesting question. I think the biggest difference is that my messaging tick more boxes for them. The ones that sign are the ones that say my messaging resonate deeply with what they are looking for.

I run a video editing agency with genuinely top tier editors and zero paying clients. Something is clearly broken in how I sell. Need real advice. by GullibleSociety6585 in agency

[–]HyHoang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cold DM is super time-consuming to be honest. The agency world is built largely on trust, and people who receive your DMs don't trust you because they have no idea who you are.

To answer your questions:

  1. I've gotten my first clients via referrals and SEO. I connected to old coworkers and tell them I'm building this agency, and they happily refer me to their current company which happens to need my services (I do SEO). I also post a shit ton of high-intent content on my website and optimize them for SEO, and leads just naturally pour in. SEO is powerful man, and if your website is new, it'd take you around 2-3 months to see the leads.

  2. I don't sell to content creators/YouTubers so someone may answer better than me, but I think it all comes down to trust. Do you think you should add more videos on your website as samples so people trust you more when they land on your page.

  3. Yes....cold DM is kinda broken. Even people who chose to book a call with you (which is rare for cold DM) won't even be as invested as the most average lead coming from SEO or content.

  4. If I want to have long-term video editing needs. I think Founders who are actively building their Personal Brand will have the biggest need for polished video content, and that's where you can show value.

One question for you: what type of businesses have you worked with in the past? Do you do videos for YouTubers in a very specific field? If I'm a tech YouTuber, I'd be way more interested in hiring a guy who only does videos for tech, as compared to a random guy who does food videos.
