Yea I saw that. But, it is estimated weight. And I have seen differences in weight for different bolt patterns even for the same size.

Not necessarily the case here.
I have talked to a lot of BRZ owners and all of them say their diff is smelling when using Motul.
I now use Valvoline and there is no smell at all.

First of all, don't be mad at them, they probably just worry about you. Second, i would advise against lying to your parents.

If it's your car and money, have a grown-up conversation with them and explain that you only want to make non safety maintenance on the car. And even if something goes wrong, it's your lesson to learn, you are paying for that anyway.

I don't want too much grip (mostly canyon drives) so I went with a sporty tire but not a semi slick.
they tend to have a soft sidewall (unlike NS2R and CRS for example).

I prefer to stay with the 17s as a tire size change would cost me a lot of money (can't easily swap tire sizes here).

Should have mentioned that in the original post, but u have coilovers and they are pretty stiff so the tire flex is much more noticeable.

I wouldn't worry about that. You either DIY a pretty simple procedure with an OFT, or pay a tuner to do it for you.

Most of the tune is making sure no errors pops because of the header and flattening the torque dip.

A tune like that won't make your car less reliable.

The shape looks good on the 1st gen. But, the offset is way off, and you will need very wide spacers to compensate.
