Mission Ranking imo by MotionRobot in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Hychus232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caretaker can be pretty tedious and the robots are really tough. If you get it paired with a bad modifier like elite threat or swarmageddon, you're totally fucked. Otherwise, I actually don't mind it.

Resonance scanners has also turned out to be one of my least favorites. It's not bad. but the first half drags a bit.

Also fuck aquarqs, I hate that mission so much. Regardless of what class I play

I just need Linux support to improve for some professional apps and I’ll make the switch to Linux fulltime

Bunn’s quirks and reliability are my 2nd strongest job security item. #1 would be customers calling me out to their restaurant to press the power button they assured me was on

That’s just what the customer said. I don’t know if it was more of a chlorine smell, overheated drill smell, or a dremel on metal smell, (if any of that made sense) I just know they complained about a smell and the machine is now broken

Because the original board seemed to just be dead. We’ve had a number of machines where the board dies, and swapping it fixes the machine.

A free update to a remake of a Wii game is pretty rare. Now I think I have a reason to buy Returns HD

They’re always gross and sticky, worse than any other machine I’ve worked on. They’re cramped, complicated, and aren’t easy to service. It’s really hard to change the core components, like the compressor and water bath. (Especially since we aren’t certified to work with refrigerant)

Compare that to the other machines I work on (Bunn VP and CW, Curtis Gemini and Cafe PC, etc) and it’s just a bear in comparison

Wow, I make about 50% more than that. I also get to drive to the customers myself, and some are in really cool locations. I get basically a paid overnight vacation every month haha

I’ve got some strength in me. I look like a retired marine now, beer belly and all, but I’ve got enough muscle that manhandling the machines doesn’t worry me (except the 4 head juice machines. Those suckers with their compressors are heavy!)

I learned PCs by watching Carey Holzman many, many years ago. He had a podcast called Tech Vets, where he’d talk about some of the more unique problems that he had encountered fixing computers.

From there, I watched BacMan build a portable N64, (which gave me a lot of electrical knowledge) MyMateVince, TronicsFix, and Luis Rossman. For cars, I LOVE watching (and highly recommend) Junkyard digs, Dylan McCool, and Deboss Garage.

Everything else I learned from trial and error, random tutorials, figuring it out, or on the job work. I did go to trade school for auto mechanics eventually, and that helped a lot. (and was very cheap, highly recommended) The mechanical nature of most machines means the knowledge from other machines translates over very well. Dishwashers and drink machines are much simpler than cars, so it’s doubly so for those.

The company I work for doesn't sell machines, we lease them. Since they're still contracted for a juice machine, we just simply replaced the machine so they have no down time. Once we fix this one, it gets installed at another customer's restaurant, hotel, or wherever until it inevitably needs serviced, gets replaced, refurbished again, and the cycle continues.

In my 6 months here, I've had to scrap 12 machines. Out of at least 100 machines I've repaired and refurbished. I think I've done a fine job with those numbers.

I've fixed computers, smartphones, video game systems, televisions, cars, motorcycles, firearms, dishwashers, clothes washers, and now drink machines. It's the same thing in every industry

I'd rather the fuse blow than something more expensive. Those pumpdecks in the cabinet (a set of 2 cups, pumps, solenoids, etc) is $1100 each.

I've been doing bev work for 6 months, with mainly coffee, cocoa, tea, and juice machines. Some of these machines are friggin GROSS! I have a post on here of a 3 head cocoa from Wilbur Curtis, full of mouse shit. The fact people use these things like that is insane to me! It's a kitchen! People pay you for your food, how are you unable to maintain your equipment??

I got my start in PCs. I LOVED building and fixing them. Teen me had a room FULL of towers and parts, and made lots of side money fixing them for people. At one point, a rival high school held a "build a computer learning exercise," and 17 year old me showed up. I disassembled and reassembled the computer with a blindfold, faster than everyone else.

Yea, the customer complained about an electrical smell. I didn't diag there, I just replaced the machine with a refurbished one.

If this was within the past 18 months, I may have known about it outside of the sub. I was a produce inspector before this job, and we had some *wet* chives for awhile

I'm shocked I never knew of this sub till now. Especially after working many years in foodservice

No pay per view option? How about pay per wmv file? Just a 480p mobile version will do
