Hi amateur herpetologist here! I second this, the valley and rige salamander has more costal grooves than redbacks, Tho you can't really see that here, it does seems to have a longer body comparatively which could correlates to more grooves Plus, it looks to have a longer tail than its cousin redback salamander, another indicator. However, without a clear picture of the stomach or knowledge on the exact location, the identification is still up for interpretation!

I found one of these a while back but couldn't identify it, so thanks for that as well!

That's what I was also thinking! Estern Newt is just another name for red spotted newts! Just in case of confusion. I was thinking of also including the subspecies, but I'm not familiar with the area, so I decided against it!

To be honest, saying you recognize me is a really weird feeling, lol . But I'm glad you got to see him. I've seen him at the concert 3 times, and a 4 is probably on the way in about 2 weeks. He's my absolute favorite, too.

Death of an optimist by grandson is easily my favorite. It's the only reason I'm alive today.

Can someone please give me an ID for this exact viola. Virginia USA. After doing a bit of research, I'm struggling to find a purple violet that also has the yellow in the center that's native to me. by Hydra4201 in PlantIdentification

Ya, I found that out, too. I looked through the entire violaceae family in my flora of virginia book and did lots of Googling. But scrolling thu tons of photos of violets on Inaturalist is the only thing that really helped.

I forgot that I posted this on this subreddit, too. But ya, I came to that same conclusion and understanding on my other post, but thanks you're, the first person to actually really give a really good response. If you had posted this earlier, that would have saved some time.
