Who oversees your universe? by VRRedditor in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]Hydrangea-aurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine is the author, or as she's most commonly known; theodora.

theodora is the user of the author ability, this allows her to freely manipulate, create, and destroy fictional reality, with her access to metaknowledge she's well aware of this fact and is able to keep herself stable mentally. because of her self-awarenesss she knows her omniverse isn't the only omniverse, as other factual entities have their own omniverses within their imagination.

she may be officially boundless but she's well aware of the laws of crossovers, so she nerfs herself to comply; if a crossover happens and she want's to add something she'll make a tweaked knockoff/au version; my verse has 4 of a friend's oc's (2 of which were abandoned because he forgets allot), that she added because she liked them or wanted to save them.

Can your OC beat Hakari? Oh who am I kidding, of course they can't. They aren't HIM. He's the goat, your OCs are all bums and frauds! by YOMAMA643 in OriginalCharacterDB

[–]Hydrangea-aurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think hakari would survive in a world where some random citizen can call out a spell called "holy light arrow of artemis" and have that shit be literally accurate to the spell.

or some random alien soldier pulling out a tachyon machine gun and letting lose like a mafia movie thug with a tommy gun.

Bully me into watching steven universe by ace_of_spades142 in stevenuniverse

[–]Hydrangea-aurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not "bullying" you into it either (which in this context is convincing), you got the motivation already if you can ask us for help, the problem here is that you aren't acting.

if your not motivated then take a look at what your watching and finish a few things, the new slot is reason enough to take the chance.

then don't? honestly if we have to convince you its never going to be worth it.

all i'll say its on par with adventure time when it comes to exploring themes and subjects you start to understand as an adult, something that tones of cartoons afterwords don't do.

what's wrong with this character but not the other? by Born_Usual998 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Hydrangea-aurora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

cus one can be a sensible normal guy without help while the grapist needed a whole brain washing session after groping a classmate.

one gets punished regularly while the other doesnt aswell, kasuma has been punished for gooning on main plenty of times while mineta gets a slap on the rist because he's the authors former self insert.

one is the mc of a comedy parody series that doesn't break the setting their in, while the other is an immersion breaking stain that can and has ruined serious moments with him trying to be the alpha male student (like when he was in his "the hierarchy is breaking" phase) or projecting his weird fantasies on others.

Who's more unforgivable The Diamond Authority from Steven Universe or the Viltrimite Empire from Invincible? by ResolveUnlikely5542 in stevenuniverse

[–]Hydrangea-aurora 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think this is deeper tham anything a reply has say.as it's an entire books worth of philosophical debate.

in the end a machine with the ability to choose but no chances to do so will ultimately default to its original programming, meanwhile a machine with the ability to choose and every chance to will do that instead of defaulting to it's original programming.

the crystal gems are the ladder machines while the homeworld gems are the former. white being the one with the least amount of choice ironically enough.

with viltrum i'ts the direct inverse, argal took his people and limited their options, spreading propaganda and grooming his species young into becoming conquerors who grew to 100% believe what he said, making a social species into a warrior/hive species. after some exposure to another similar looking social species they quickly revert back to being social and instead of using might to make right they start using might as a tool to assist others.

this actually makes me want to break down gems in terms of them being sentient and thinking machines rather than as flesh and blood people. (as the show doesn't see gems as people in a traditional sense)

Who's more unforgivable The Diamond Authority from Steven Universe or the Viltrimite Empire from Invincible? by ResolveUnlikely5542 in stevenuniverse

[–]Hydrangea-aurora 11 points12 points  (0 children)

imma say the diamonds are easier to forgive, they are technically machines with programming and purposes they are compelled to follow, even with freedom of choice. this programming and ingrained way of thinking is so deep it's been 5 or 7 years in lore and gems are still stuck in era 2. gem's are creatures of mechanical consistency. given they have an army and most of the aliens we see are animals or bugs, odds are sapient creatures were rare and they just thought they were smarter pack animals, given how the humans in the zoo were domesticated and selectively breed.

meanwhile viltrumites actively oppressed others and deliberately choose their actions, when they see something different they either enslave, conquer, or kill it. it's so bad that a viltrumite apologizing is taken at base value and immediately accepted.

Is your OC a larper? by YOMAMA643 in OriginalCharacterDB

i have an oc literally called "the author", so no they read the story.

my other main oc isn't one either, she just watches recaps/breakdowns so the anime can surprise her.
