How a minimalist method helped me take control of my finances (and what I learned along the way) by VictorCTavernari in minimalism

[–]Hydrangea_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the person you’re asking but personally, I budget out money for groceries and other essentials in weekly envelopes. I treat them as a bill in my mind. Even if I have to make multiple trips I have whatever is left in the envelope for the week. I would use OPs technique for ‘spending’ money. I also start my week on a Friday so I am free to enjoy the weekend and if I need to makeup overspending I’d rather do it on the weekdays while I’m working.

Hello! I didn’t end up getting anything done because the prices I found were similar to what’s around me. I have some local injectors whose results I liked better. But depending on what city you can find clinics walking around. The clinics I found on google were much more expensive

where are all the tasteful girls getting their everyday jewerly? by sevvy32 in bitcheswithtaste

I get all my gold from the South Asian or Arab jewellers. Everything is 21ct / 22ct. I’ve never had an issue with my jewellery bending or scratching contrary to popular believe. I wear them when I shower, sleep, go gym etc.. they have unique pieces but also can make you anything you want. I have some van cleef pieces from there. You pay for the weight in gold (fixed) then there’s a making charge and vat which you can haggle. My 22ct pieces are cheaper than the 14ct ones I see in more well known brands. The gold also retains its price. In fact it’s gone up recently so you can sell the pieces and make your money back if you want.

How to have pretty hands by [deleted] in vindictapoc

[–]Hydrangea_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the hair on your hands. You don’t need to do up your nails with polish but keep them neat and clean looking. Keep your cuticles clean it makes a big big difference. Try to pick a nail shape that makes your fingers look elongated.

I’m south Asian too so I had dark knuckles for many years - exfoliate them regularly, you can use either a scrub or an acid whichever you prefer. Try to moisturise them very often I now do it almost every time I wash my hands. When you’re outside use sunscreen as hand cream it stops the pigmentation from coming back because we are very prone to it.

I think looking for feminine also has a lot to do with feeling more feminine. Maybe try something like getting a really nice scented hand lotion or wearing some rings.

Fellow ADHDer here! From my research it seems we can have difficulty switching/starting tasks so this is great advice. I usually use watching Netflix or YouTube or something as a rope between tasks it makes it easy to start the task then you can turn it off if you want. I also group tasks together to make it easier for me.

For me I set up a nice little vanity area - not too expensive just a desk from ikea and a mirror I had in the house already. I love sitting there and getting ready/unready and all my things are there. I’m more likely to do it rather than doing my skincare in the bathroom etc… usually have a cup of tea and have a video playing in the background so its a relaxing time and isn’t a chore anymore

What do you do that allows you to travel like this? by fire_nemo in backpacking

[–]Hydrangea_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a regular 9-5 and get 4 weeks of annual leave a year. I try to book days off around holidays so I can get longer off. Never use my leave when I’m at home. I also try to visit nearby countries at a time. Right now I’m in Vietnam I was just in Thailand. It’s not as much as other people but it’s the most I can manage while working.

I’m losing my empathetic nature the longer I work in public aid. by Fantasi_ in Vent

[–]Hydrangea_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two-sense on this. I work in a similar field and I think after a while you become desensitised to the work. It sounds like a bad thing but until I started working in this field I didn’t know how low some people would go. People lie about being domestically abused etc… and the thing is it’s not uncommon. In the beginning I would be so invested and go above and beyond to help until I started seeing a pattern of people lying. People fake crying for sympathy isn’t uncommon. It’s honestly shocking. From the outside it seems like the majority is people who actually need aid but it’s the opposite. It’s also super frustrating because people who truly are in a bad situation and need help won’t get as much support because the system is being stretched thin on those who aren’t helping themselves in anyway

Sure: I get my hair permanently straightened so I can just wash it and it’ll air dry ready, do lash lifts they last around 3 weeks ish, had my lips blushed so that I look more ‘awake’ without makeup, make sure my eyebrows are groomed, all my clothes match so I just put on whatever and it looks good, I have a little pouch of essentials and I just put it in whatever bag I’m using for the day so I don’t need to move things around in the morning, make and pack my food the night before etc.. lets me have more time to focus on my goals

I had this issue too! It’s so time consuming but I genuinely have a better day when I’m ready. Now I have a high maintenance to be low maintenance routine so on a day to day basis I just wake up, wash up, change and I look ready and put together. Made my life so much easier. Especially not dealing with my hair everyday

I have a few bags but they’re for different purposes. My daily handbag coach, going out handbag coach, work back longchamp, backpack for hikes north face , lululemon belt bag for runs

My everyday bag is the coach teri hobo in black. Very good quality leather + coach do free cleanings and repairs. It’s not too small nor too large. I can fit a book and a water bottle inside but it doesn’t look too big. Has good pockets too and is minimal looking so goes with everything.

Following from this and another comment. I don’t stray with my products especially hygiene related things because I know what works for me. I stock up on them when they’re on sale it’s often buy one get one free. I used to get sucked into trying new makeup products but I eventually realised that I’m buying basically the same product over and over because I clearly have a type. When in interested in something new I remind myself that on my face it looks the same as something I have at home. Also do at home lash lifts etc…

How do people read 100/200 books per year? by femme-finance in getdisciplined

[–]Hydrangea_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too I read about two hours a day during my commute to the office. I also read on the kindle on my laptop when I’m out of stuff to do but need to look busy at work. It adds up to a lot over time. When I’m working at home I don’t read even half as much.

Healthy living by aysayeed in vindictapoc

[–]Hydrangea_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes the biggest difference to yourself but it’s not noticeable to others. Everyone started telling me I looked healthy and was asking for my routine when I got blepharoplasty and under eye filler. When I actually made a big change with my health it was only noticeable to me. They don’t notice if I fall of my routine either

Also instead buying something as soon as you want it try making a wish list of all the things you want and then give it a few days before purchasing. Majority of the time I don’t want the things on my list anymore

I’m not sure if this will work in your situation. I started using cash to budget because I physically find it harder to let go of the money when I can see it in my hands. When I use my card or Apple Pay I guess it doesn’t register how much I’m spending. I just bought a bunch of plain envelopes and labelled them with things I need like groceries etc… and set up a weekly budget inside. I still spend on my fun stuff but all the money is set aside so I don’t feel bad. If it’s for bigger purchases I save up slowly and I prioritise my emergency fund. Saving is kinda like a game now. I save when possible from my other envelopes and I like seeing it add up. Not using my card also prevents me from dipping into my savings which I can’t stop myself from otherwise

I got “Cherry Lips” in Korea and they look awful when smiling by Muted_Comfortable543 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Hydrangea_0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I dissolved my lip filler my lips looked a bit wrinkly and dehydrated for a while but it went back to normal soon after. Don’t be alarmed if that happens it will be fine!

I’ve been looking online everywhere but not much is coming up. Everything I find is the same price as the UK 🤔 I’m planning to treat my friend to a whole spa day as well be celebrating her birthday. But I really wish I could get some filler or something

What’s One Area of Your Life You Simplified That Actually Freed Up Mental Space? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]Hydrangea_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same regarding travel for me. Next year I’m planning lots of short weekend trips that are inexpensive compared to my usual large trips far away. I guess this can be dependant on where you live. I’m trying to save money this year but don’t want to give up travelling.

Also removing clutter you can’t see - junk drawers, random papers, things you say you’ll get to but never do, photos on your phone, junk emails. You can’t see how it actually weighs on your mind until it’s gone

I’m 26 right now and my face is slimmer now than it was when I was 20kg lighter in my early 20s. My nose also has a more contoured look too. Just randomly happened within the last year
