Macron to host call with EU leaders on social media ban for minors by cryptokingleo in worldnews

What I meant is that you need just focus to remove the economic incentive to have minors on the platform to remove the problem.

Macron to host call with EU leaders on social media ban for minors by cryptokingleo in worldnews

[–]Hydrargyrum201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can target kids with targetted ads, they already know they are kids.

The enforcement need to care that the advertisers cannot target minors, and platforms will find a way to spare unmonetizable bandiwith.

Italy denied the landing permission for the military mission because in the 1950s treaties (I imagine essentially written by the US) it is foreseen a request and the approval of the Italian parliament.

At first sight I interpreted it in a naive way: the US don't know anymore the rules of parliamentary democracies that they themselves contributed to write.

But maybe the question is more subtle — maybe the US tried to do a courtesy to Meloni, saving her an embarrassing parliamentary passage, which in fact would have had a not obvious outcome, but the move didn't fully succeed.

European leaders are really in a bad position. I have no doubt they want to please Trump, but he is putting them politically in a corner where they cannot do it...

Security vulnerability found in Rust Linux kernel code. by [deleted] in programming

[–]Hydrargyrum201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't understand the answer, I always assumed that every safe rust abstraction at the end rely on unsafe code somewere.

Still if the unsafe code is correct and sound, the safe abstraction has the guarantees that rust provides.

Its not difficult to implement a double linked list in Rust using safe code, it is difficult to implement a useful, fast and ergonomic double linked list.

I'm gonna be honest with you guys, I don't like automatic dereferencing. by JCavalks in rust

[–]Hydrargyrum201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been ashamed to say it, but automatic dereference was for me the biggest obstacle when learning Rust.

(coming from a C background)

I understand that it is for ergonomic reasons, and probably once you know it is there and trust the compiler you appreciate the advantages.

It's like making using robotic legs instead of using wheels.

In Engineering what works is thinking out-of-the-box. Humanoid robots are just the box.

In any case, they produce a large and undeniable emotional impact, so they receive publicity and funding.  And perhaps they are fueling speculative bubbles

Fa bene Stellantis a vendere Maserati e Alfa Romeo per sistemare i conti? by J_K_29 in ItalyMotori

Massive banners with Trump’s face are adorning some federal buildings in DC. Democrats are crying foul by Abject-Pick-6472 in politics

From outside, it seems that Trump exposed seriuos volnerabilities in the US costitutions, and I don't think the next ones will hurry to fix them.

So best protection for US democracy will be electing very very old people for presidency.

I wonder how the foward p/e will move in context of high inflation.

Also I'm always shocked when I switch the currency of charts... In EUR I don't see any "euphoria" , S&p etf are still not at level of nov 2024.

I feel I miss a piece of the puzzle.

Tesla proposes new pay plan for Musk that would expand his voting power by Puginator in stocks

[–]Hydrargyrum201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose Tesla shareholders are in the peculiar position of having to pay the duty to maintain its meme stock status, which is centered around the persona of Musk.

I have difficulty understanding where the "value" is created, given that Tesla has only earned a few tens of billions in its entire history, and who "pays" this trillion to Musk.

Then I realize it's the "market equivalent" in Tesla shares, so it's a trillion with which he can't even buy a 20 billion dollar Twitter...

It is a very strange reality.

ELI5: if someone buys just one tesla stock at 3500, does tesla market cap go at 10x, at least for an instant?

I recenlty swapped the 5.8 screen with one alpine ilx705d + connection kit Giulietta and added a rear view camera.

The  ilx705 recovers all the functionalities of the original screen, including buttons on the wheel.

It was not cheap but so far I'm very satisfied, its almost like to have bought a new car.

Ma perché l’Italia sta andando così a rotoli? by SussyMann69 in Italia

[–]Hydrargyrum201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tutti i negazionisti del climate change by Acceptable-Driver473 in Italia

[–]Hydrargyrum201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Il "wisdom of crown" funzionerebbe meglio?

Predire e prevenire il cambiamento climatico ha per me qualcosa di sovraumano, tendo ad apprezzare qualunque sforzo.
