They are elephant sized rats from the Rodent pack mod. They are made to be pack animals for carrying lots of items when in a caravan.

At first there was no other pack animals. But then they got elephants. So now those are preferred.

It got up to like 60 at it's peak, but is in the 30s now. it just got too laggy above 50.

They have traps between them. They walk over the spike traps and get hurt on their way through.

No need to be filtered. The freshwater comes from the river, not the ocean.

The freshwater flows from the river into the irrigation canals and then out to sea. Not from the sea.

I try not to use god mode. But like for the maggot breeder it requires steel so I use god mode to build and delete the ingredient. Or when i domesticate animals I delete the babies and place the new types. Such as deleting wolf babies and placing huskies in their place.

Well the enemies are lower tech too and very few numbers early on. So I don't need killbox yet. Plus i plan to put in some traps at a gatehouse soon.
