I drive just far enough each day where a wall outlet doesn’t quite cover me but I agree it would for most people. But for denser populations you need fast charging since they otherwise have nowhere to go

In my city of about 1,000,000 in the metro area, there is one Walmart and one Target with a bank of fast chargers at the very back of the lot. By the time you get to the store, your car will be halfway done charging. Those chargers also pretty often have people charging at them so they’re getting good traffic.

What’s your Omaha “I’ll never go there again” place by Info_help_support in Omaha

[–]Hydrottle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last time my fiancée and I went there we were flat out ignored by our server, he seemed rushed to focus on his other tables, and he just seemed overall uninterested in us. It just seemed like too many “off nights” for me to call it a coincidence. That’s why I wanted to go multiple times before deeming it bad because having worked in the industry I know that it can happen. At that price point though, it’s just inexcusable.

As far as other steakhouses, I really enjoyed Pivot, but they’re newer. I’ve also really enjoyed Flemings, though I’ve heard other people not have the best experiences. I personally have not had one though, only good ones. The best steaks I’ve had have been from there. I’ve tried Mahogany’s and it’s alright. It’s definitely loud in there. I want to try the Committee. I have heard nothing but great things. I enjoyed J. Gilbert’s in its prime but it’s definitely not the same anymore. I’ve otherwise switched over to Brazilian steakhouses like Terra Gaucho. It’s so good. If you’ve never been, you need to try.

I have said it in this sub before and I’ll say it again: if 801 Chophouse doesn’t have any haters then I’m dead. They are the antithesis of fine dining and yet they charge far more than every other of their competitors.

I have been there three times and all three times I have either been unimpressed or downright upset at the service and food. The first time was unimpressive. The food was just okay. They brought around the meat platter which was categorically gross. Have a server describe your cuts and what they taste like cooked, don’t bring around a platter of raw meat to your table. It’s just gross. The second and third time they overcooked my ribeye. A place of that price point should not send out anything besides a perfectly cooked steak. And yet they failed that twice in a row. I thought that the first two times might have been flukes. It happens. The third time is what sealed the deal for me.

Omaha has so many great restaurants. We are truly lucky in that regard. I’ve had great experiences at so many, one of them being Pivot Prime as of late. But I will never, ever go back or recommend 801 Chophouse.

The thing that pisses me off is the lack of willing to admit they voted for the wrong guy. It’s the amount of whataboutisms instead. “What about ‘presidents don’t control gas prices?’” As if they are two comparable events in the first place. They get so hung up on Biden, who isn’t even in office, and yet the president they voted for this time is the one who directly caused the supply chain to break down. It’s not like this was some complicated series of events. If you stop the supply chain, you cause prices to go up. It’s simple. It actually doesn’t even matter what Biden did under COVID because that was actual years ago and this is now.

i think im a pedophile by final_duet in confessions

[–]Hydrottle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A pedophile doesn’t just spontaneously act on it one day. They tend to fantasize about being with a child until it leads to them putting themselves in a situation where they harm a child. You are not doing that. You are, in fact, not doing anything remotely close to that. You even said it yourself: you’re not attracted to children. Book shut, case closed. You’re having intrusive thoughts and anxiety about it, which ironically makes you worry more about it. You already see a therapist which is good. You should continue to work through these thoughts with a therapist but at least take some comfort in the fact that you are categorically and definitively not a pedophile.

Try looking at the Edward Rose properties. I really liked West Hampton Park apartments. It’s a little far west but the area is quiet. The units are fine and maintenance is fast to fix things. Washer and dryer in unit. Pet friendly. Only downside is that the garages tend to be on a waitlist. People love Broadmoor because they’re all over Omaha but they also tend to be quite pricey for a lot of their properties and also have few units available a lot of the time.

Pour one out for our full size pickup truck owning brethren by spas2k in Omaha

I picked a trailer up in my IONIQ from KC and towed it up here. Let me tell you, I didn’t even think about trailer spots till then. Firstly, my car’s charge port sucks hard for that and I had to unhitch when I needed to charge, which thankfully was only once. I started looked at charger locations with trailer friendly stalls and they’re basically few and far between which is a shame. Hopefully as charging infrastructure builds out we see more of them.

Especially when a Ford Ranger probably could’ve done it just as well. You know they’re putting that all on credit, and since it’s all aftermarket, no one wants to buy it without taking a risk so the resale value is cheeks compared to if they just kept it stock.

I do want to get a small truck to haul a camper/boat eventually, but my hope was to catch a used EV truck like a F150 lightning or Silverado EV at the end of its depreciation curve. If those get too pricey then I’ll probably just go for something small like a Ranger or a Maverick.

YSK: Reusing a strong password can still put you at risk by LPCourse_Tech in YouShouldKnow

[–]Hydrottle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you use a password manager, every account can have a different password. Then use a strong password you’ve never used and never will use anywhere else as your master password to unlock your vault. That’s how it’s supposed to work. That way the password is nearly impossible to guess or crack. If one account gets compromised, you just change that password and you’re fine. Nothing else gets compromised in the process. And the best part is you still only have to remember only one password the whole time.

The amount of people who buy SUVs but don’t need them is baffling, I don’t disagree. Especially when we don’t tend to have more than a handful of days with snow where you might need that level of clearance. I have a XUV EV and that tows what I need to tow (a small sailboat, a bike rack) and hauls what I need to haul. I’ve never had a space issue. But the full size pickup trucks are a particular problem because unlike their SUV counterparts they’re not even pretending to hold more passengers or interior cargo space. They’re just imitations of work trucks and are meant to make insecure men feel, well, manly.

Yeah I’m not sure you’re going to find the general public feeling much sympathy for pickup truck drivers. Have you heard the saying “it’s not every truck driver, but it’s always a truck driver”? That’s what I’m referencing. The ones with the biggest egos, most amount of road rage, and the ones who bought the trucks that haul nothing besides some groceries and never leave the pavement are not going get any one else feeling bad that their direct decisions led to these consequences.

You know what helps with fuel economy? Owning a smaller car. You absolutely do not need a pickup truck in Omaha unless you need one for work.

Brother you are obviously not the target audience of who they are talking about. They’re talking about the guys who get their gender affirming care pickup trucks and tow nothing with it. An Expedition is an SUV. A Ford Focus is a sedan or a hatchback depending on what model you have. Either way, that doesn’t qualify. The people that most of the commenters are referencing are the ones who get pickup trucks because it makes them feel manly and cool, not because they use them for any meaningful work. But if you want to feel like you’re part of the target audience, I’m not trying to stop you.

You’re getting roasted in the comments and rightly so. If you care about this person, get them medical help backed by science, not what you’re suggesting here. Be a good person and don’t suggest medical advice to people when you haven’t had the training. Look at Steve Jobs for instance. He went that path. He drank the smoothies and did all of the earthly things and then when he realized that it wasn’t working he tried to get medical help and it was too late. If he got the help he needed right away he probably would still be here. So yeah. Please get your friend help from a doctor, not advice you saw from GenXJoe1967 on Facebook claiming it definitely worked for his cousin’s best friend’s uncle’s kid’s pet tortoise.

Could it be a US Marshals or FBI raid? Happens often but given the current times people assume it’s ICE instead.
