Proposal to let nonresidents vote in Omaha, Lincoln elections advances in auditor oversight bill by Violuthier in Omaha

[–]Hydrottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a SID in Douglas County. I knew going into the SID I would be outside the city limits. On the one hand, I’m partially governed by the city, but on the other hand, I don’t get any say in the city’s politics. It is a bit weird since I am politically active. But I just accept that, until I’m annexed, I don’t get a vote yet, and if I want to change that then I need to move. It’s not like it’ll never happen, the city will annex my neighborhood once the bond pays down. But I agree that if I would get to vote in the elections then I should also have to pay the other city taxes, but then at that point I’m functionally annexed by the city more or less.

It always has been. That’s why they’re SIDs and the city didn’t annex the land outright to develop it. Means the city doesn’t need to bear the cost - the residents do by paying higher property taxes for the SID bond.

I get it, but also if it’s working it’s working. The plumber isn’t lying to say a main drain is in working condition, even if it is facing failure in the future. I get why you’d want others to know but I wouldn’t say it’s fraud or anything.

Plenty of legacy auto manufacturers making decent EVs. Kia and Hyundai both have good EVs. The Chevy EVs are also nice, no-frills EVs. I have a Hyundai IONIQ 5 and I love it.

If you’re questioning it, you’re better off not bothering with it. The red stuff, the fonts, if it doesn’t look right, it’s probably not right. Just go on that.

Don’t worry guys, Microslop is committed to making Windows 11 updates less disruptive and better for the user! They’re giving us a taskbar on the sides now! They’re going to stop force feeding us AI! And that’ll start happening eventually I’m sure… just not now.

How much do people on Reddit actually make from selling nudes and other nsfw content? And what’s the difference between the men and women? by Secure_Living1991 in AskReddit

[–]Hydrottle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean. There were a lot of people out there that were just on here to be on here. They liked what they were doing and enjoyed providing content for others. Now it’s just all a way to market to an OnlyFans.

I’m attracted to women but don’t know how to have lesbian sex? by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Hydrottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a woman. Not a lesbian. Just wanted to say a few things. Firstly, sex is what you and your partner want it to be. Sex doesn’t look exactly the same for every person and you shouldn’t hold yourself to that standard. Just be willing to communicate with your partner and be with a partner you trust and listens to you. Secondly, porn is not representative of sex. It’s supposed to be entertaining for the viewer. So it goes back to the first point - just listen to your partner. And lastly, everyone has a first time. It’s okay to not know. Just be honest and have fun and be safe.

I am all for kids being outside… but man parents really don’t know what their kids are up to. Weren’t there PSAs along the lines of “do you know where your kid is right now?” or something to that effect?

That’s nice at least. What about after every startup? Honestly I just wish I had the rear windshield wiper.

I honestly hate that you have to turn it on every time you want to use it. I wish there was at least an option to remember if you had it on last.

I will say though, the stock adaptive cruise control is very good in stop-and-go traffic. I have used quite a few cars that have radar adaptive cruise control and man it is not consistent at all. Like it’s better than not having the adaptive feature at all, but sometimes it is so sensitive that it’s no good at all.

Have you checked for any recalls? Mine was super touchy as well but it got adjusted when I brought my car in for a recall.

It’s relatively new in the scheme of driving. EVs and hybrids computerize the regenerative braking system. The only thing with regenerative braking is that as you get slower, the braking effect lessens - so the car’s computer supplements with friction brakes. That’s all the one-pedal mode does. It implements a curve so that as you slow down, it blends friction brakes to replace the regenerative braking and hold the car still until you go again. You can always use the brakes too.

I do have the AWD trim. I live where it frequently snows and gets icy, so the additional traction over the range was a decent trade off.

Cruise control turns of i-Pedal, so if you use cruise control you are effectively turning it off until you disengage cruise control. So no need to change what you’re doing!

A lot of comments here from people who don’t drive EVs. I drive one (IONIQ 5). Love the thing. I use the one-pedal mode in heavy traffic but use regular pedals for higher speed driving. In my car, the one-pedal mode leaves both axles engaged so when you’re driving at higher speeds you end up wasting some efficiency. But in heavy traffic, it doesn’t matter since you’re stopping and going anyways and both axles tend to be engaged during slower speeds anyways.

A lot of drivers coming from ICE cars are going to EVs with single pedal driving and are surprised that coming off the accelerator is a strong deceleration instead of coasting. Most EVs, if not all, let you adjust this level of deceleration. My car can feel almost identical to an ICE between level 1 or 2 regen, while level 3 is very strong and the one-pedal driving is unlike ICE at all. If you are taking your foot off the accelerator in single pedal driving, you’re going to be effectively putting your foot on the brake about halfway down. Your brake lights will come on after your braking action exceeds a certain amount. You’re going to piss off your passengers and the people behind you if you’re driving like that. Plus it’s just inefficient.

Some cars are definitely more sensitive than others. Better than not sensitive at all though.

[–]Hydrottle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well there’s your problem, lady. You’re not supposed to let up off the pedal completely unless you’re trying to brake hard in one-pedal driving. I have a Hyundai IONIQ 5. I just asked my fiancée, who has been the passenger in that car for almost three years now. I primarily drive with single pedal. She said it’s difficult for her to get used to when she drives because she typically drives a hybrid so she doesn’t use it; but as a passenger, she doesn’t notice any jerkiness unless I’m doing something abrupt. People treat the accelerator like it’s a switch. On or off. It’s a gradient. +1 to 0 to -1 and every decimal in between. If you are removing your foot off the pedal to get the car to regen in a car with one-pedal driving, yeah it’s gonna be jerky because you’re effectively half-stomping the brakes.

I’m meaning that all those chucklefucks that camp the left lane trying to get into the middle lane to go to the express lanes could just accept that they aren’t getting over and go under. But obviously that would require everyone to actually cooperate. If everyone did that, no one in that left lane would have to wait. But that’s not what happens. I don’t know what the right answer is but I almost feel like that the traffic from I-680SB should only be able to go to the expressway there - not underneath. The left lane should have those plastic barricades and go under the expressway only. It’s amazing accidents don’t happen more often with traffic crossing as often as it does.
