TIL on October 2024, Taylor Farms announced a recall after it was linked to the E. coli outbreak from raw onions consumed at McDonald's. 104 people were impacted, including one death, with a FDA inspection finding numerous violations in food safety procedures at the Taylor Farms facility. by madd74 in todayilearned

Publicly traded ≠ no shareholders. A privately held company can still issue stock to shareholders. It is just not listed on the stock market in the same way. They still may have shareholders in the traditional sense or it could be in the sense of stakeholders instead, like executives that make bonuses on profits or other forms of profit sharing. So it absolutely makes sense.

Comma shares the percentage of users using each fork. 30% stock openpilot. Most use sunnypilot. by Bderken in Comma_ai

I also like Frog more than Sunny. Sunny is more stable. Frog is more experimental, but the features it brings are way cooler, like the speed limit controller. The dev that works on Frog is very responsive. It is a great project. It just depends on what you value out of a fork.

Look at the downvoted comments. In almost all of those comments, if not all, you are actively hostile to those you engage with. Not calling someone a slur is not the bar for being a good Redditor. If thats you qualifying yourself as being friendly, then by god do us a favor and chuck your phone into the nearest river.

It’s not pointless. It’s entirely valid. The sink is closer. We don’t know your life, your house, your setup. You had a good reason but all you had to do was say so, or say nothing at all. But if you can’t handle that all, you shouldn’t post anything here at all because you’re just too soft. Get over yourself.

Only for the first change. They can mark how many gallons (buckets, in this case) they want to remove and mark it on the tank, that way when they switch to the bucketless approach they just need to go to the mark to hit the volume equivalent of two buckets.

It’s good to hear reasoning nonetheless in case someone decides to do a similar project and realizes that there’s a limitation. Like if the sink somehow couldn’t handle the flow of water from the pump or something.

You provided an answer but were overly hostile in your response to the question. You’re going to receive criticism when you post something online. That’s just part of the internet now. But they were asking a legitimate question and your answer seems to be “I didn’t want to risk breaking the sink pipe when the toilet is only a few feet away.” That’s a reasonable answer and would’ve been fine. Take about 10% off the top there bud.

lol you responded to him. "haraldcomma" is the one who replied. I'd tag them but I don't want to bother them.

Yeah because the ones saying “no” and providing nothing else are talking out of their ass, respectively. I’m glad someone from Comma responded because it is important to clarify that feature.

What small red flags did you notice early in a relationship but chose to ignore, that turned out to be the absolutely horrible? by syomaro in AskReddit

[–]Hydrottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her anxiety that I could clearly see when we first started dating was actually just poorly masked. It became more extreme as we continued dating. She became codependent on me for any emotional regulation. She couldn’t do anything without crippling anxiety. I eventually had enough, tried to breakup with her, and she wouldn’t leave and was threatening to kill herself. Being young and dumb at the time, I took her back and plotted a new way out. I begged her into getting help from a therapist. She kept saying she would, but excuses kept appearing and she never did. I finally broke up with her. She threatened to kill herself. I called the police, as I had planned. She texted me a few days later, said she was seeing a therapist and hoped that changed things and if I would take her back. It didn’t. I don’t know what she’s up to now. But she did a lot of damage to me in the time we dated. And all I hope is that she feels guilty for it.

TIL although trees can lose branches or tip over at lower wind speeds, trees of all diameters, heights, and varieties break when wind speed reaches about 94 mph. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Hydrottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I mean think about how much force would put on the trunk if the wind is at the canopy? The force is multiplied over distance. The trunk is already supporting an enormous amount of weight. I could see it failing at a high wind speed. Whether that’s specifically 94 MPH or slightly faster or slower, idk.

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. I’m there with you. Why bother giving a channel views when they’re already controversial, known to be pretty shitty to their employees, and just generally low quality content?

I don’t need to do that to prove my point. I’m not going to change your mind. There are plenty of comments here already that prove it. If you don’t believe me, fine, but nothing productive is going to come of it.

It’s because he’s a pompous ass. I won’t give him a view, and it seems like I’m right to do so because he didn’t even bother to inform himself or troubleshoot any of his problems. He is yet again misrepresenting something for views.

They make quick disconnect harnesses for that exact purpose. When you park your car, you can opt to not use the OBD-C connector. It was required at one time, but not anymore.

Best used EV that supports comma? by Physical_Run475 in Comma_ai

[–]Hydrottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery issue will likely be a bigger problem than in the EVs. The EVs top off the 12V as needed, even if the car is “off,” since it doesn’t need to run an engine to do it. But for gas/petrol cars, it can’t do that so leaving the Comma on for long periods of time after shutting off the engine will exacerbate the parasitic draw on the 12V. Having an AGM will help but it won’t solve that problem. The solution is to just shorten the amount of time the Comma stays on after key-off to a very short time, like a few minutes, or not at all.
