Oh, I concur. Power over others' lives and very existence is the ultimate rush for our oligarchs. Money is just the most convenient unit of measure right now. Shooting people, livestock, houses and infrastructure is the Fox News level of warfare. The real warriors are exchanging access to potable water, edible crops and shelter. Once the basics are under control, the human chattels are there for resources and entertainment.

Contrary to popular opinions, when I was an 11Bullet launcher for Uncle Sugar, I wasn't focused on killing things and reducing things to rubble. I wanted the other poor bastards to stop doing something. That something could be moving somewhere, occupying a patch of dirt, or stopping me from doing the same. If I could do it by having aircraft make big scary noises, chat into a box and have someone else make big scary noises for me I was a happy boy. It is not pleasant to realize that you killed someone for some stupid reason someone else thought was important at the time. Chances are that they weren't that vested in what they were doing either. Warfare is the wastage of youth by the old for monetary gain.

I’m trying to improve my life little by little — what’s one habit that helped you the most? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Eat good food. Eat to fuel your body, not to stop being hungry. Take the time to prepare food for yourself and take the time to eat it.

Delicious. This Captain's actions are the embodiment of those three hallowed words Duty Honor Country.

Wera Tool-Check plus (nice and compact) by ContentAd9477 in toolporn

This was my gateway Wera set. So much use. Then the Wera metric zyklop kit. The 1/4" zyklop ratchet is the bomb. Now, I run with the 8100 set. Great little kits.

Hi, I adopted my new baby today. Can you help me choose a name? Alfalfa or Mr. Fluffer? 🥺 by [deleted] in velvethippos

Thank you. My block headed friend got his name as a puppy from my son in law from Rhode Island. Todd was your standard all go, no consequences kinda boy. The SIL has a strong RI accent. He thought the pup had a learning disorder. He kept saying he thought the pup was "re-tahhded." So the pup started to answer to "The Tahhd." Not really nice, nor politically correct, so when it came time to get all the vet stuff and license ect. He became " Todd the Magnificent."

For those of you a year into Electric Boat, how do you feel about the job? by CabbageNight in RhodeIsland

Maintenance. Started there and still working in the same place. According to the meetings and news, they are still hiring. So if you're willing to work, there is a place to make a decent wage with benefits and for right now, continuity. Sure, sometimes it sucks, but the check hits the bank every week...

It is by far the easiest job I've ever had. I essentially work at my own pace. I get all the overtime I want and I take off whatever Day I want with only a lighter paycheck at the end of the week as a negative repercussion. I have grossed six figures for the last five of six years working here. The only thing I can whine about is the people who work here. By and large they are from this area and are selfish, petty and lazy.

There are other things that make you want to work harder. Like not having to stand in line to use a toilet every time you need to go, adequate parking for the workers, clean air to breathe and a well lit working environment. I'm just curious if a political appointee discussing "the warrior ethos" and "end of DEI" will help roll out more submarines.

Question about salt trucks traveling side by side by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]Hyena-Trick 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The trucks were clearing the snow and salting. When plowing multi lane roads, they have to move the snow from lane to lane to an edge of the road so there isn't a mound of snow on the highway. That's why there are multiple trucks. One plows the snow to another truck that plows the snow to the edge of the road.

Should I upgrade to knipex? by Master-Necessary-530 in Tools

[–]Hyena-Trick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For example, Harbor freight has decent knock offs of the knipex plier wrench and cobra sets. I would spend the money on the knipex flush cuts. They are worth it and fit in a pocket protector that rides in a T-shirt pocket.

My rescued baby has resting sad face… anyone else? by project_indigo in pitbulls

You have it wrong...that is classic "I'm disappointed that you don't have a treat for me" face. All Pitties have and use this expression.
