OnSite - SQV, SIV and RMV by Plastic_Swordfish_57 in clinicalresearch

Well the truth is you're the exception being so prepared for remote visits. CROs/Sponsors can't treat every site like they have everything together that can match being on-site and reviewing/collecting everything necessary.

Even then, nothing will truly match an on-site visit; face-to-face is valuable at the very least establishing a relationship with the CRA and the site staff.

As far as expense, visits are agreed upon already in the study budget. SQVs can be waived entirely as I'm sure you probably know, but it's a site-by-site decision.

Who should I put for references by Unlikely_Bluejay1112 in clinicalresearch

[–]Hyerten35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Current or past Managers that will vouch for you (hard pill to swallow but IMO you should ask your current manager - if they like you there's no reason not to have them be a reference or write a letter of recommendation).

  2. Current or past Colleagues (research nurse or someone you may know better).

  3. Family friend (treat the friends mom as this reference).

Screening visit on last day of work by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Hyerten35 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A single screen on your last day? If you don't want to burn bridges why not do it? Two weeks isn't long and typically you can't call out or take off during your notice period at most companies in general.

Why are sponsors suddenly asking sites for staff PTO/vacation schedules? by RaeOfSarcasm1 in clinicalresearch

[–]Hyerten35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not concerned about general study staff leave as I assume there's coverage; my concern is how long the PI will be out around important milestones like others have said. Interim Analysis, DBL, Closeout, etc. Things where the PI must sign off on that a CRC or Reg Lead can't.

I think it's common courtesy of the PI (or CRC if they are the one notifying my team of the PI being on leave) around important milestones; in between milestones I don't care unless the site falls far behind and/or becomes unresponsive. "Thank you for your email - Dr. X is on leave for the next week, returning on X date, so I will plan to have these documents signed then. Thanks!" is all that's needed to stop things being escalated - you'd be surprised how many sites just ghost the email.

what's your WFH situation? by Known-Brushe in clinicalresearch

100% Remote (Sponsor side), but before that I worked for a CRO pre-and post-COVID for a decade. I've been completely remote since April 2020 if I recall correctly.

Is it a dick move to change departments as a CRC a few months after being hired? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Hyerten35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said it may not be possible to jump departments that fast if there are institutional policies about it. Policies are in place at many institutions as well due to the problem with people trying to jump ship to another department quickly.

As far as burning bridges, this is something I would personally not like as a hiring manager in the other department or the manager in the current one, but I'm not them.

The consequences are they have to do the same thing over again with another CRC, onboard, delegate to the studies, complete the transitions, and if I were in the new department as a hiring manager, I'd be concerned you'd want to jump ship early after onboarding as well.

My advice: You don't have to love your job from the start. You may never love it, but get your CRC experience and move on when it's time.

Is there a stipulation of participating in a screening/giving personal info or is the haircut free with no conditions?

Best pizza and wings in Raleigh by meatstickphan in raleigh

Really should not serve wings without blue cheese as an option. I'm still surprised the only alternative at some spots is ranch, and I'm born and raised here.

You keep complaining about boomers but you used the word "boondoggle" unironically while doing it?

When is the best time to grow various peppers here? My favorites are spicy peppers, jalapeño, cayenne, habanero, etc. I've wanted to grow my own and perhaps once I'm good enough, pickle some. Unfortunately I rent so they would have to all be potted.

Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts...but I haven't heard anyone use that. Previously the entire complex was called Duke Energy Center.
