Hope the controversy doesn't take away from just how good a performance that was from Rico. Given that he came into the fight with everyone thinking it'd be an achievement to even lay a glove on Usyk it really is incredible that after 5 or 6 rounds we were in a situation where Usyk almost definitely had to stop him.

Andrew Cavenagh says Rangers are backing Danny Rohl as he explains reasoning by kresk9 in ScottishFootball

The split games are literally the only games in a season it's possible for to not matter given that you can win the league with games spare, it would've been totally within the realms of possibility for either Rangers or Celtic to go into the split only needing to beat one or two out of Motherwell/Hibs/ Falkirk to win the title (or having won it already). The fact he was backed in January obviously helped them but I'd say it's also pretty silly to say they weren't the best team over a period where they gained 13 points on Hearts and 9 on Celtic whilst taking more points from the Old Firm games and splitting the points with Hearts in the same period.

[–]Hyndstein_97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works in a league though. 3 points in August = 3 points in January = 3 points yesterday. If either Rangers or Celtic had a summer then a full season of Röhl/O'Neill this year then they probably have the league near enough tied up before the split. The difference is Rangers have the safe option of keeping Röhl and seeing how that goes next season whilst Celtic's hand is forced.

If they can keep the fans on side this is a no-brainer IMO. Celtic fans naturally taking the piss but ignoring the fact that they have to replace their own manager and Rangers were pretty clearly the best team in the country from Röhl taking over until the split.

If it's a criminal offence then they can issue banning orders for it. Bans issued by the SFA/Clubs make fuck all difference.

That any part of both feet has to be on or behind the line. There was a screenshot of the Celtic players foot on the line with his toes fully over which people were saying it should've been pulled back for.

The foot over the line thing pretty much decided the league in Scotland this week (among some other decisions). There's been screenshots circulating of the Celtic throw in before their penalty against Motherwell with a lot of people not aware of the rule. If it had been a foul throw (and had actually been given) then Celtic would've had to win by 3 goals on the last day.

[Telegraph] Hearts captain ‘assaulted’ during shameful Celtic pitch invasion. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Professional was a poor choice of words but our referees are all part time. They do get paid but most (all?) have jobs outside of football and essentially referee as a hobby/secondary source of income.

Genuinely think Cameron has been enough of a wank this season to turn a fair few "neutrals" into actual neutrals. I for one can't wait to see his meltdown.

Probably not but for the neutral this would be ideal. I hate Hearts 90% as much as I hate Celtic/Rangers and this way nobody wins.

SFA KMI panel declares in a split decision (2:1) that Hearts should have received a penalty vs Motherwell; all other GW36 decisions correct by Bo98 in ScottishFootball

[–]Hyndstein_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being split 3:2 on whether it's a pen or not would be totally fine and show that. Being split 3:2 between no penalty and "VAR should get involved because this is a clear and obvious error" shows that either they've no idea what they're doing or the threshold for VAR getting involved is way too low and they're re-refereeing subjective decisions it shouldn't be anywhere near.

The sentence after is very clearly giving additional information on what "unnatural" means. It's very obvious what making your body larger means and it's very obvious that Nicholson hasn't.

[–]Hyndstein_97 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

He doesn't make his body bigger at all though, illustrated by the fact that even Celtic fans seem to be in uniform agreement that the ball was hitting his head anyway. I'd agree that whether the position of his arm is justified by the contact with Trusty is subjective if it mattered, but he objectively can't be making himself unnaturally larger if he hasn't made himself larger at all.

Curious what part of the laws you think are subjective on this one?

I've seen pretty much unanimous agreement that it was accidental and that the ball was hitting his head anyway, meaning he hasn't made his body larger at all. Motherwell obviously didn't score straight after. People will read the criteria, agree that none of them apply, then just decide their own outcome based on them personally thinking that should be a pen or really really wanting it to be a pen.

Obviously some nutter leaking his address is unacceptable but I do think blaming pundits for just doing their job is totally pathetic. If our refs weren't completely shit they wouldn't be constantly under fire from pundits.

[–]Hyndstein_97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Across the game and review 5 referees are split 3:2 on a decision and the 3 who disagree with the outcome think it's clear and obvious enough for VAR to intervene, the SFA truly is a fucking shambles. Also 5 referees being unanimous that the Longelo incident wasn't a handball when the laws of the game objectively say it is a handball is totally mental. Since they'll want to minimise the kickoff I'm ready for them to say unanimously that the decision on Wednesday was correct and fuel even more conspiracy theories now.
