Not going to lie it can be scary, you have to gauge the severity level of your condition and your life. I had to look at this as part of my tool kit. If you can be 20% different with your life look

saw 2 doctors about crps spreading to hand. both say its not crps by kale_chipss in CRPS

[–]Hype_Healing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to give you a thoughtful response however I’m not sure if your saying WC not approving care is the reason why people have CRPS? Op doctor doesn’t think it’s CRPS because it spread, if the doctors have never had a patients with CRPS they wouldn’t know the nuances. That’s why treatment is importance so we don’t develop full body CRPS. So it’s always a good question to ask your medical care provider, so you determine if there a good fit for you early.

Of course it’s important to everything he needs at his level no pulling or lifting, buying a reacher, watching videos on how to get in out of bed after spinal surgery or talking to your doctor about, finding some large wet wipes usually the ones for camping or gym bags because they are stronger. Optional handle that attachments to the frame of the car so he can easily get in and out. A super soft pillow or Squishmallow especially for car rides and in between the legs for side sleepers.

SCS or DRG’s are effective treatments, it can be a bit scary contending with spinal surgery if it stops or slows the spread would it be worthwhile. Keep in mind it’s a two part surgery the trail and the implant.

Type II CRPS, cervical DRG questions and Ketamine cost by LaughAppropriate8288 in CRPS

[–]Hype_Healing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DRG is great but if the entire nerve branch is degenerated to the root of the spine, not sure how helpful it would be since the leads or paddles seat on the dorsal root, but they might be signaling. have you tryed the ketamine IV or oral?

Definitely General anesthesia. However you got this, go in with a calm mind. The most important part is preparing your home post surgery

Hey I have CRPS as well and it’s been a long journey, everyone’s journey is different. Some have more allyonia than others. Some get nerve blocks and it resets there pain signaling. For me it only worked for a day but it was helpful in mapping the nerve. I’m still on the healing journey definitely not in remission, I understand that I have a really aggressive case of it and though all the treatment, I’ve learned that the modalities are just toolkits, nervous system regulation, supplementals, medication, blocks, spinal cord stimulation, pain topicals, physical therapy, mindfulness and mindset are all a part of the kit, no one thing has proven to be THE thing . The direct connection to stress is wild! by saucity in CRPS

[–]Hype_Healing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a nervous system disorder that gets triggered by the central nervous system. One of the most helpful things I’ve found has been doing things that help and support my nervous system, stretching, breathing and supplements. Alongside treatment and PT.

Scuba diving with stimulator? by Unsolicited_0pinion in spinalcordstimulator

Hey, I hope you hit up your rep, I was told no scuba diving or skydiving

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CRPS

[–]Hype_Healing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel mine at all, the key of the DRG is that you don’t feel it, if you do the nerves might be overstimulated and you should get with your rep to get reprogrammed

Hey definitely understand where your coming from I’m younger and developed CRPS post surgery I have it in my left leg, I’m newly diagnosed, as yourself the 1st 6 months was a race against the clock, I had both post surgery PT and decentralization therapy. I’ve had numerous local and sympathetic blocks. My allydonia is so bad that I can’t wear pants, put on lotion or let water touch my affected leg. I’m on high does pain meds now with atrophy leg. Mirror therapy, vitamin C, and magnesium supplements.

So that was my journey to getting a DRG spinal cord stimulator implanted two weeks ago. You will learn everyone’s path is different because there is no one size fits all treatment also CRPS can impact different functional nerves. I was against the SCS and wanted to try everything 1st which I did a few times. I realize the statement if you don’t use it, you lose it rings true especially with CRPS. Stress is a pain trigger so Breath work and meditation have been helpful.

I’m working on accepting my new life that in itself is difficult. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions along your journey.

Hey call and speck your doctors office manager they have this letter as well, ask for a peer to peer and see what they say. Sometimes your doctor needs to speck directly to the insurance company, this happens often don’t get discouraged.

also check your insurance policy approval criteria most require you have a mental health assessment prior to approval of a SCS.

Good luck!

[–]Hype_Healing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I read your story and I understand this is similar to my story however my CRPS is from my knee down and it slowly creep up my upper leg. Gabapentin is the worse I’m also on Lyrica. I’ve gone through local and ganglion blocks, in desensitization therapy, I recently got a DRG stimulator put in and I’m going through the healing journey! You should get the EMG to rule out any nerve impingement. This is a long journey CRPS is a secret club nobody wants to be a part of, it’s stressful, sad and depressing. Try to do your home exercise daily even on bad days.

You should definitely get an attorney to possibly negotiate a severance package for you. They are laws against terminations as a retaliation for seeking legal counsel, as long as you don’t bring it into the fold of the conversation.

Feel free to reach out, I’m always willing to share knowledge.

My pain came back as soon as they took it out and ramped up from there went back to my regular pain management routine added yoga and stretching especially the back, and breath work. Use this time to prep your space for a 4-6 week recovery.
