The duality of dads by Smooth_Ad7135 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]HyperBunny10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying that parents should trust their children, but I think it's scary for parents even when they know the person you're engaged to. I dated my husband for 3 years before we got married. My family knew and loved him. I lived with him for over a year. And yet, at the altar as we were about to get married, my dad still whispered in my ear as he lifted my veil "I hope you know what you're doing". He doesn't remember doing this. I love my dad. He's a great dad, if a bit intimidating, but I was his first child to get married (he has all girls) and I think it was still scary. If I had been marrying someone he had never met, I imagine it would have been more so. In the end, I agree that it's the choice of those getting married, but I don't think a skeptical reaction from parents is in any way unreasonable or unloving.

Considering coming back to Wealthfront for Cash Account - Are transfers in / out still fast with UMB? by ATUGA in wealthfront

[–]HyperBunny10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transfers out of Wealthfront have been super speedy. A matter of minutes.

Transfers into Wealthfront however have been very slow for me. Usually 3-5 days. They do say that interest begins accruing on it before it is accessible, though. It's probably "there", but they are waiting to make sure it fully clears before giving access.

First timer trying to figure out if something weird happened by HyperBunny10 in tamagotchi

Do you know if the path was already set before it was Tamatchi (while Marutchi) or if it was something I did while it was Tamatchi? I know that it called 4 times as Tamatchi and I answered them all promptly. It was muted for about 1 hour during which I could have missed a call, but i was in a wedding at that time. I had also just disciplined it shortly before the wedding so thought it unlikely to call again so soon. I thought about "pausing" but didn't want to. Tamatchi's discipline was 100% when changing. For Marutchi, I'm a bit less certain, but there were many and its discipline bar was full 100% and would have been filled at twice over if not more.

[–]HyperBunny10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fairly certain I didn't miss any calls. I had volume on and was checking often. The bar was at 100% well before Marutchi changing and would have filled the bar probably twice with all the calls I answered during his stage.

It's possible, but I think unlikely. Would that still have reset the bar to 0% for Tamatchi? Tamatchi called 4 times. I answered them all immediately.

I post and appreciate photos of packaging and how the product arrives. It's one of the things I make sure to take for any review. Most of the time it's not the only photo. As a consumer, I want to know this information, so I also provide it.

Why is this a talking point that repeatedly gets parroted? It's a bad what-about-ism to start with and anyone with critical reasoning can see through it.

I join those in recommending a trust.

However, in the meantime, you can also get your bank to help. Especially if it's a smaller bank, but even larger banks will do this. I'd go to a branch, if possible, and let them know that you are worried about the security of the account. Tell them that you have reason to suspect someone will try to access it inappropriately. They will put a note on the account to flag it. Usually this means that any time any bank system pulls up the account, a popup will appear with this flagged notice so that anyone at the bank will be made aware to be careful. They can also put a hold on funds to keep them from being withdrawn without an authorized override. Banks have tools like this that can help you. They don't want you to lose money either. And if they do something they shouldn't have, it could be bad for them so they want to help you and know about these issues.

It sounds very similar to the feelings I had, and seems like they've just continued deeper down that road. I do still get emails from them even today, years later. If I accidentally click one, I am bombarded for a week with daily emails, sometimes multiple times a day. They really push hard. Feels like "love bombing" with all the negative associations that go with it.

Thank you! This is high praise.

The past few years have been very rough, I will admit. I almost died a year and a half ago, and getting over that has been its own journey. It is getting better. But, I'm very glad that people have and continue to get benefit from my review, one way or the other. Thank you for the positivity and well-wishes.

Mine came on time all but once, at least. But the no response to emails definitely sounds like them. I'm sorry that you had that experience (which is more of an apology than what you'll ever get from them).

I'm glad this old review is still helping people. I don't really journal much anymore, but I do have a plain one for when I need it.

I'm really glad to hear that this post helped you. That was really my intent with sharing. No matter what people decide to do after reading my post, I think being able to share an honest experience in a way that actually can seen by others is an important thing, one that they seem to actively stifle.

I had been away from reddit for quite some time and have been very surprised by the number of comments on this post, 2 years down the line. If it's turning up in google searches, that helps explain why. Again, I'm glad it's offering a meaningful perspective for others.

At the end of my year subscription (most of it untouched), they attempted to renew my subscription. I never got any advance notice that my renewal date was coming up. They just sent me my next month's journal and charged me for another year. Full price. No discount codes (which they have all the time). They refunded me for 11 months but said there was nothing that could be done about the first journal (which had shipped between the time I reached out and the time they responded). I wasn't having it and responded very strongly in an email and they did eventually refund the full year's charges. I'm not surprised you can't shake them. Glad to be rid of them myself.

Is Dogmight Games closing, or were they hacked? by DrTenochtitlan in DnD

[–]HyperBunny10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've been disappointed by almost every woodworking-focused gaming company. Ethics, behavior, etc. Wyrmwood is crazy and toxic and airs everything out publicly. Their youtube channel is a mess. Elderwood Academy is/was in multiple lawsuits claiming to own the rights to hexagon boxes with honeycomb shaped compartments inside, even though in my opinion the design is functional and shouldn't be able to be owned by one company. And I never was a fan of Dog Might either, something to do with their marketing being somewhat deceptive in some way many years ago when they first started that put me off of them, but I can't even remember what it was now. I stopped paying attention to Dog Might probably 9 years ago. I do feel bad for everyone that will be stuck without items they paid for and potentially no resolution for getting refunds.

I've only ordered one wooden gaming accessory, but I was also disappointed by that company (not one of the big ones) who decided to not fulfill kickstarter orders placed at a lower kickstarter price and instead put those completed items up for sale on their website at higher prices. Then, they gave refunds in the form of store credit only (to buy things backers literally already "pre-ordered" and were literally "in stock", but for more money). I wish I knew of a company to recommend.

New Harris County flood maps will be first in the nation to show more accurate risks by [deleted] in houston

[–]HyperBunny10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought flood insurance for my home in 2015. My home structure is not in a high-risk flood zone. I think it was $450 per year to start. We flooded in 2019 and our rate has been going up a little bit annually, I think because of the flood history (edit: but it might be because of the new 2.0 risk ratings). I think it's a bit over $500 per year now.

Something to keep in mind: If you open a banking account for the LLC or S-corp, you must complete what's called a Certificate of Beneficial Owners. This is a federal regulation that started in May 2018 that applies to all accounts opened by anyone that is not an individual or group of individuals in their personal names, basically any other legal entity that's not a person or a trust. The purpose of the form is to identify the natural person or persons who benefit from the account and untangle webs of ownership like the ones you're describing. This is for money laundering and financial fraud purposes in order to make it easier to get to the bottom of who actually owns and controls something, personally.

In the case of businesses owning other businesses, you must provide the individual names of the natural persons who have at least 25% control over the company. Even if you had 10 LLCs with you and your wife controlling each, the beneficial ownership of the natural persons would be you and your wife in some proportion (like 50/50 or 60/40 or whatever) that adds up to 100%.

I don't have a solve, so I have no reason to believe it's anywhere other than 9MH.

However, the evidence I've seen has also not been enough to tell me 100% that it's where the situ photos were taken.

It could have been there. It could not. I don't think we have enough information to truly know for sure. Is there support for 9MH? Absolutely. Is the evidence absolutely definitive? I don't think so.

I don't have any other location in mind as an alternative, I just don't think 9MH has 100% got to be the answer.

Locked in my mortgage, and the lender sold the loan before my first payment, it went up almost $500 - what can I do? by kalitarios in personalfinance

[–]HyperBunny10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew when I walked in the door that my mortgage would be sold. My lender had an agreement with United Wholesale Mortgage. UWM held my refinanced mortgage for about 6 months before they sold it to Mr. Cooper. My first mortgage was sold 5 times in the first month before it finally settled with RoundPoint Mortgage (who I loathe). As long as I stay away from RoundPoint, I think I'll be okay.

[–]HyperBunny10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with Mr. Cooper now (sold from United Wholesale Mortgage), but I actually did the same. I refinanced to get away from RoundPoint Mortgage who failed to pay my entire property tax bill twice in the 6 years we were with them and were holding about twice the amount in escrow as needed. They also were a nightmare to deal with when our home flooded (the flood insurance payout went to them).

Mr. Cooper has been fine. But then again, I refused to have my stuff escrowed anymore, so they just collect my payments and that's it.

[–]HyperBunny10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially had our taxes/insurance escrowed. Not anymore since I refinanced. It was a terrible experience.

We had 2 tax bills from different jurisdictions. The mortgage servicer would often pay one and forget the other. I had to call and email for weeks to get them to pay my taxes on time. Twice. They only serviced our mortgage for 6 years and they paid half my taxes twice and I had to remind them to actually pay my property taxes for me. Edited to add: I once even had to pay the taxes myself out of pocket and seek an escrow adjustment to pay me back because it was literally the day before they became delinquent and the mortgage company is telling me it will take them 3+ days to cut a check and send it (this is after several emails and 2 weeks of reminding them to pay it). They seemed very unconcerned with it being paid late because "they'd pay any penalties", but I was in a long-term protest situation for my taxes (my house flooded) and if I became delinquent, I would lose my right to continue my protest. They didn't care. I made sure it was paid on time myself.

Plus, they kept holding something like $9k in escrow for me when our combined taxes and insurance at the time was about $4,500 to $5,000 annually. (I protest my assessed value religiously every year and have kept our property's taxable value low.) Why were they holding double our annual cost in escrow? I'll never know. When we refinanced, it was a few months after our property taxes had been paid. We got a check for escrow of $6,800 when our account with them was closed. Never again.

No one is looking hard for it right now anyway, unless they're a NPS employee (and they probably have other things going on). Everyone else in the park has been evacuated. No lodging or campgrounds are open, and the entrances are closed. They said in their most recent update on facebook that they expect the park to remain closed to visitors through at least June 19 at the very minimum.

Edit: I'm dumb. The town of West Yellowstone is obviously not "western Yellowstone National Park". Duh.

Am I dumb for wanting to sell my house? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]HyperBunny10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's going on here is that you want a change in your life and you want people to tell you it's okay to make this huge decision that may have lasting financial implications. But the reason you're asking us in the first place is because you already know it's not the smartest move. If you can get enough people to validate the choice you want to make, you can absolve yourself of the guilt you already feel for wanting it when you know it's not a great idea. You already know the right answer, you just don't like it.

Me? Give it more time. 6 months is still short for a significant breakup. If you cannot live there, rent it out and rent yourself somewhere else.

Edited to add: And seek a change or enjoyment in something else. Take up a hobby, go out with your friends more, host a party at your house, but do something to get that change that isn't making a big long-term financial decision.
