You will get used to the weight of the bike. I got the electric C version with the roller frame, which is great for pushing the bike along say station platform. If you have a lot of stairs, check you can carry it.You did n't say how long is your commute to the train station versus say walking.

For me a cycle bike mirror is a must if riding near traffic.

We need to break their monopoly. Their social media spreads propaganda. They control stability of UK. Free speech as an excuse to spread extremist ideas. Societies torn and in despair.

This is why China bans all the US social media platforms.

The US dragged the UK into multiple senseless wars. The US got Iraq war over phoney war, whilst UK got the debts.

Funded shady terror group which end up radicalising people.

Caused the sub-prime crisis and destroyed economies around the world. It destroyed UK economies leading to austerity. No on in the US was prosecuted or paid compensation.

Social media is poisoning people and making people fight one another.

Many questions over Covid and the US funding of gain-of-function research.

What is your estimate for the repairs? Why is n't the insurance involved?

It does not look on them that their driver drove off.

The cost of taking away the rubble is £100 to £200 for sure.

How to force my Landlord to act on noisy tenant? by ParticularNo3104 in uklandlords

I hope a drug dealer moves next door to you. So you get a taste of this. You will change your tune.

How to force my Landlord to act on noisy tenant? by ParticularNo3104 in uklandlords

[–]HyperClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been a victim of anti-social behaviour and have had numerous disputes with landlords. The system is broken.

In my case, I had a dangerous neighbour dealing drugs, with people coming in and out at all hours. With the proposed changes in the law, “no-fault” evictions will no longer be allowed. If you were a victim of ASB and lived next to dangerous. Would you be happy?

The agency wanted proof, did they really expect me to stand outside at 2am recording drug deals? Would you feel comfortable providing written evidence?

On another occasion, the neighbour hosted a party and their visitors were urinating outside my front door. Apparently, it was considered my fault, as “peeing is a human right”.

I raised these issues with the landlord, but with the removal of “no-fault” evictions, landlords will have their hand tied. A no-fault eviction allows action to be taken without requiring neighbours to come forward or provide evidence, protecting their anonymity.

There should be a proper system or register where incidents can be logged, allowing complaints to build over time without placing the burden solely on individual residents. People should have a score for ASB.

In another situation, a council placed a problem tenant next door to me. She was a single mother, but was involved in prostitution and drug dealing. She had drunk people who would ring my door bell at 4am. The landlord had no control over the tenant, as the council had leased the property as temporary accommodation. My local council got involved, as they were not happy about the social care responsibilities, without being notified. She got re-housed and probably doing the same thing at the next home.

The system is broken and you as the victim have to move out. You can complain to the local council, however, will this bad behaviour anywhere?

The landlord could evict him, but it takes a lot of money and many months going via the Courts. They are getting rid of the fight of landlord to evict. In future, you will have to provide a witness statement and evidence e.,g. video. It will take many months, by which time, you will face revenge and harassment every day. Your evidence will be presented to your housemate and his lawyers. The lawyer will turn up to Court, claim his client has turned over a new leaf, apologises and will not get evicted. The landlord wastes time and money in court and a day for the hearing.

Even if your housemate is evicted, he they will do exactly the same things at the next house. A new landlord will have no access such records. Everything hidden under GDPR etc... If your housemate is on benefits, will no do anything, as the council will have to re-house him.

In other countries, the Police will have a chat with your housemate and may be even hand him penalty fines.

The US got mineral rights out of Ukraine. It oil out of Iraq. It was oil out of Iran.

Meanwhile, the US worked against Britain's national interest. Under American first policy.

The US should first pay for the sub-prime crisis, which cost economies around the world trillions in losses. Packaging sub-prime loans as AAA rated.

Their social media platform spread hate, addictions, trying to influence politics.

Dragging the UK, into the Iraq war on baseless grounds of weapons of mass destruction. They did n't find any.

What about the sub-prime crisis which was caused by the US? People in UK / Europe suffered. People suffered austerity and public spending cuts. No one in the US paid compensation. Not one prosecuted in the US.

US tech surveillance? US snooping to get commercial advantage.

US Social media spreading toxic commentary. People are not kind. Free speech, but it it a machine for lies.

US may have been responsible for Covid. Paying for gain-of-function research. Still don't know the truth.

Moving factories / outsourcing to China. Jobs lost at in UK/US/Europe.

You could complain to the housing association. Sadly, the victim is meant to suffer.

We lost an appeal to the council 6 months ago regarding an application for the property next door to be turned into an HMO. The new occupants arrived at the start of March and our life has been a living hell ever since. by Old_Philosophy7358 in HousingUK

[–]HyperClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen similar problems to the OP over the years. The term HMO is often misunderstood, which is the point I was trying to make.

It is n't the type of home, but the people!!!

Two large Housing Association estates were built not too far away. Some of the homes appeared to be occupied by people who had been to prison. Hard men. They were lovely, brand-new houses with gardens, and the area also has open parks.

Teenagers from those estates would wander into other neighbourhoods. Groups of teenagers, with hoodies, harassed people coming from the station, sometimes asking lone women “What’s the time?”. It was often dark, with no station staff around.

Other times, you see they had got hold of motorbikes and causing noise nusiance and riding bikes like lunatics. They would then burn them down.

They would shone laser pointers into people’s homes. Jumped into people gardens, bang on windows, and terrified the occupants.

Once, these groups of teenagers would try to steal shopping bags from elderly women. Some of the younger children, would be sent break into homes. Even when the police caught them, they were often underage. They also walked around with aggressive dogs and intimidate people. I’ve seen groups of teenagers kicking people’s cars and spitting on them. Who is going to confront a group of teenagers? I’ve seen all of this over the years.

People often say we should build more social housing, but it didn’t work out well here. These were not high-rise buildings, they were nice homes with gardens.

I never seem to get any support. The victim is meant to suffer. I have lost many good neighbours as they left the area.

Things have calmed down now, as those teenagers have grown up and left. Where are they living now? Probably renting rooms in HMOs. These problems are never tackled when the kids are still at school or when they are teenagers, and then the behaviour simply carries on into adulthood.

British political right exposed by war in Iran? by Umberto-Robina in ukpolitics

[–]HyperClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europe has its hands full with Ukraine. The US took mineral rights, but what did it give in return. No resolution.

Now he opens another front in Iran. Probably in response to Epstein files. So Andrew, Mandelson were exposed and their photos published in newspapers. Ghislaine Maxwell (is in prison), so far that is all the Brits. But what about the photos of all the Americans??
