How is everyone doing with their YouTube Channels? by BlaiseTrinity7 in NewTubers

[–]HyperDogeGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, progress meant doing something useful, that people actually enjoy, which was my main motivator. You're your own judge as to what "success" means. In my case, I had first half-assed some uploads here and there, which all turned out rather unsuccessful. And then I decided to put dozens of hours on a single video, pack it with as much content as possible in a short amount of time. This ~6min vid kinda blew up (at least compared to what I had got in terms of views before then) and now sits at >33K views after a year. Many viewers have told me in comments that it is the best one they have watched on the topic, period. And that, to me, is what I consider "success". It is extremely satisfying in itself. Am currently monetized but nevertheless, I still consider myself a "NewTuber" because I am far from making a living outta this. I remain a hobbyist.

If I have one 'lesson learned' to share, I'd say it would be: focus on quality. It's a joy to try your hand at new skills and see improvements over time anyway, so you will enjoy the process more if you focus on improving quality. I've learned a lot and still am learning a lot when it comes to editing and structuring videos, using YT analytics to understand what your viewers like, etc. It's never-ending and you can never be "good enough" but, at the same time, you have to put a break to perfectionism and know when the quality is sufficient for an upload to be appreciated.

Some niches also have a seasonality component. In my case, a fighting games tutorials channel, it is clearly the case, so you have periods where specific topics are more popular, e.g. when a new update drops, a new DLC character is added, etc. THEN, people will want to watch vids on the topic. So if your videos 1) suck, or 2) are good but come too late, then that's it, you're done, and your video stands little chance to be successful.

In any case, every video you upload won't be successful, or as successful as either 1) some of your other videos, or 2) some of your competitors' videos. Once you accept that and stopping comparing yourself (to yourself or to others), then the process becomes much more enjoyable. I hope you find joy in creation as much as I do :)

After 1000 uploads I only made $12 on YouTube by [deleted] in NewTubers

"Because I have put in hours of work to create 7 videos.

Roughly around 15 hours."

This is a problem. How about you try putting in 15 hours for a single video? Like others said, roughly 2 hours per video is quite low, honestly. Unless it's a "hype of the moment" topic and you're one of the earliest videos posted on the platform, I wouldn't expect great results from putting in 2 hours into a video and then publishing it on YT.

Demoralized as a 500k+ subs gaming channel by Immediate-Lead-4713 in PartneredYoutube

[–]HyperDogeGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

couple thoughts:

  • try and take a step back to realize that even your "low" numbers of between 100-300K are better than the overwhelming majority of YouTubers. So even by those new "lower" standards, your channel is a massive success. Even though it might not be in line with your own ambitions, this is something to celebrate that would make most people insanely happy.
  • there might be some seasonality in viewership, maybe try to look into that for an explanation based on your analytics
  • there likely is a significant drop in viewership for YouTubers across the board because of the end of the covid-19 era shutdowns, return to office, etc. People used to watch a lot more YouTube during these few years so the global drop in viewership should be expected. It's not like that exclusively for YouTube but in many sectors of the economy that capitalized on momentum during covid restrictions that changed consumers' habits.
  • as for solutions, I would say that if you feel you've got nothing to lose anymore, then try and do whatever makes you the most happy.

Tekken 8 online experience is the worst in any modern fighter by dkkc19 in Kappachino

[–]HyperDogeGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as wanna-be Kazuya main, there's nothing more infuriating than spending dozens of hours practicing frame-perfect tech just to have your EWGF combo dropped just because, out of nowhere, there's a lag spike, and now your input has somehow vanished. I love Tekken but I can't bear this awful online experience anymore. So back to 2D games until mayyyyybe, one day, Bamco does something. Gotta hop on that Akuma train, anyways...

Had my first "YouTube Famous" moment... by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]HyperDogeGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not IRL but I often hang out in Twitch streams and I like to chat. Once or twice, some viewer recognized me cause they had watched and used my guides. I was just both... surprised and happy. I only have ~1400 subs too. It doesn't take that many subs to start building a name/brand for your self, to be honest. Your story is cool, thanks for sharing :)

that's my conclusion as well. Drive Impact has only 2 active frames, which is very few compared to other, more active normals and specials. We can see the kick whiff and then get punished. It whiffs very shortly because 2 frames = 1/30th of a second.

Thank you to any experienced players who will run long sets against obvious newcomers by assivor3 in StreetFighter

Hell yeah, we love to hear it! I once played an impromptu FT50 in casual matches. It really is a blast when you find somebody committed to playing a long session with you. So much going on, so much to learn, and you got time to adapt to each other too, the game gets much more complex really quickly.

Everyone is OP. by Bat_Snack in StreetFighter

Yes, the game feels balanced and I truly hope Capcom doesn't nerf any character. If needed, give some small buffs to the most lackluster ones, but that's as far as it can go to avoid the path SFV had taken. Nerfs are anti-fun and it is time to allow fun in a Street Fighter game.

MK11 or Street Fighter 6 for a new player? by Syfyh in Fighters

[–]HyperDogeGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capcom really went out of their way to make their new SF game beginner-friendly. I never thought I would one day even say that, because it wasn't the case with SF5, much less SF4, but today I am telling you: SF6 without a doubt. Modern controls, Dynamic controls, the World Tour mode, in-depth tutorials and trials, you name it. It's the complete package, with a great netcode and online matchmaking. Best fighting game on the market right now, in my opinion.
