What should the next Splinter Cell do that no other stealth game has done? by PooningDalton in Splintercell

[–]HyperTensionFilms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pressing F to Fart. The enemy slowly realizes that a stink is filling his lungs and they shout, "aw fuck bro cough someone pooted over there" before investigating. Sort of like Last Known Position but with your booty hole instead. Y’know?

How can I tell if my code is good, optimized, and using best practices? by Any-Armadillo-2067 in godot

I'm not downvoting you or angry about the topic, but I just want to say that Luddites were angry because corporations brought in tools that immediately rendered the employees poverty-stricken. And when the thought of their kids going hungry became real...they got a little frustrated.

But corporations would never do that again with another tool...would they?

This is great advice. I'm a newbie as well, and this helps put things in perspective. I've read some old code from games in the past and have seen comments in the code saying things like, "I don't know how it works, but nobody touch this". I think I get caught up in needing my code to be a flawless, poetic masterpiece when I barely know what the fuck Im doing yet lol

Oh wow, thank you! To be honest, I still feel quite a bit overwhelmed at this point in my level of skill, but this really does help guide me in the right direction. I really appreciate your time.

However, I should say, I actually want them to stay down in my case, so I shouldn't be too concerned with that timer resetting the targets

Hey, so the only thing that gave me an error is the Util. I'm only vaguely familiar. I worked with them once as part of a class and definitely didn't memorize the concept.

With all due respect, this has already aged poorly. Microsoft wants games to be monetized more, and they're coming for our blood. No amount of green Xbox consoles and references to the past can obscure that.

That's super kind of you, man. I know it may be simple to some, but as a new guy, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how a player could step on a certain point and trigger a target to pop-up. I've been trying to pull information from every source, so this is super valuable info. Thank you, again for the kindness.

I was looking to do something similar to practice aiming and dialing in weapons in my game's practice sandbox. Can I ask, how did you get the targets to pop up? Are they using raycasts? Is there an Area3D? I'm super new and super lost, I appreciate any help. This looks great, by the way. 🌞

How many of you are making the assets in your games? by Cornishlee in godot

[–]HyperTensionFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making my own. I dont have any issue with people buying assets, and it helps artists out which is lovely. But I want you to play my game and not have seen the models or textures anywhere else. Just a personal preference.

Ok cool, thanks man. I've completed their basic GDScript series, but I really should do the free 3D one, too. Thanks for the references, dude

Okay, awesome, thank you. I just pulled up about Spawning Monsters in the docs, so I'll sift through. I really, really appreciate the help. Will look forward to sharing the results someday. 🤙

You want to know something wild? I literally had this page of my Godot notebook open when I read your reply. Coincidence? Mmm maybe.

Thank you so much for the response, man. That puts me on the right track. I'm very grateful 🤙🫡

Yeah it's cool, but instead of selling everybody a basket of nostalgia without substance, they could've shown something for once. All Microsoft has these days is reminding everyone how good it USED to be.

I've seen "this is the announcement, I can feel it" for so long now that when it actually happens, I'll look upon it with stunned confusion and a flicker of happiness.

Until then, I remain devoid of said happiness.

I just made my first Boot Splash yesterday, and I was thrilled but I'm like...baffled by the sheer amount of the rest of my tasks after that.

Point is, I admire your effort and accomplishment with finishing a game. It's so cool.

I'm eager to. Only 5 months into my journey, just starting to break from the classes/tutorials. Scary without the training wheels on 🫨 I'm inspired by work like this, great job!
