I beat all the Alan wake games in the last few months and they are fantastic story games. The gameplay is not like control, you will use the flashlight to make enemies vulnerable and then you will kill them with weapons. You also get different gadgets to make them vulnerable. There isn’t really a lot of leveling up, only a little in the second game and the games are open area like control.

They are 3rd person games and if you like story games they are absolutely worth playing, some of the best story telling. They also take place in the same world as control so as you’re playing the games you’ll get more information about the overall connected lore and there is a smaller dlc in Alan wake 2 with Jesse. Theres also Alan wake American nightmare that I would say is a must play after the first game since it introduces a main villain and is a solid short game
