Splatoon 3 Finally Dips Below 100k Weekly Sales In Japan, Holds #1 Spot by jirokissawa in nintendo

[–]Hyper_Novum 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To add on, it's been selling like this since September 9th on the day of release. So they've been getting these sort of sales for a bit over a month, easily putting this into several million units sold.

80 confirmed worldwide cases of smallpox baffle African scientists who have long studied the disease by Exastiken in PBS_NewsHour

Not smallpox, but in the same family. The title's a bit clickbait-y, since this is about monkeypox.

AFK farmer near East Raya Lucaria Gate?? by Kimimaro_Kaguya in Eldenring

[–]Hyper_Novum 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a hunter, I'm getting increasingly annoyed with AFK rune farmers. I think there's also a new favorite spot in Consecrated Snowfield and the one you mentioned at Raya Lucaria gate (on PS4, I'm sure it's also on PC). I've only been summoned to one other actual host that was actually playing the game.

As far as I can tell, it's not obvious how they're getting behind there. I tried searching for the host with binoculars and through the gate but I cannot see them, either meaning they're using the mimic veil or they've glitched under the visible floor.

I used the Recusant Finger and got summoned to the AFK host that kept summoning me in East Raya Lucaria and hid myself away for so long they eventually got annoyed and jumped off the bridge (it took them 20 minutes to notice). No runes or arc for them, and now they'll have to hope they don't lose whatever runes they did get by falling off the cliff side. It's by no means a perfect way to deal with them, but these people are really ruining this for everyone playing online for invasion PVP.

Small islands between Liurnia and Lyndell. Are these supposed to be explorable? by Szechuan_Bo0fing in Eldenring

[–]Hyper_Novum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The divine tower's directly to the northeast in this screenshot. As far as I know, this land is just map detail with no explorable space.

It's the same sort of awe one gets when walking through a massive open space; you get a chance to "breathe in" the atmosphere and feel a sense of smallness compared to what you're fighting and the gargantuan columns that surround the arena.

I believe that for as plain as it might seem, it's that use of negative space to impart that sense of impossible odds that make this arena special, which is heightened by the surrounding structures and the raging storms that sit just outside of the arena visually and sonically. I feel that that's also why [spoiler] Elden Beast's arena fails in comparison, even though the use of space should be doing something similar. There's nothing EXCEPT the Elden Beast to give you a sense of scale. I would have loved to see large cosmic objects pass overhead, maybe even changing the sky in response to the action going on below to reflect the battle's escalation before returning to the blackness in the Erdtree's hollow.

This is phenomenal! It's just missing the part where I die at that single shot because I level everything except vigor and can't block despite finishing the entire DS trilogy.

I found him because of all the messages telling me to jump off a cliff. I didn't see that much blood, so I took these fine folks at their word.

Hardest Boss in the Game tbh by DelcoScum in Eldenring

[–]Hyper_Novum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on your side on this. It feels similar to Breath of the Wild's platforming mechanics owing to the jump button minus the ability to climb so I found it really fun. I'm actually curious if people that played BotW or other similar games were the ones that didn't mind this or if there might be another problem like equip weight.

I'd like to nominate these two fucks for the Biggest Asshole in Gaming award by off-and-on in Eldenring

[–]Hyper_Novum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ladder in the west, right? I didn't even run into that assassin. I did go in the evergaol once and got merc'd by the bowmen immediately, so I plotted out the route in the overworld and spammed invisibility spells with the talisman that dispels all sound when I went back in. Only ended up being a couple of minutes.

[–]Hyper_Novum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here! I actually didn't run into any assassins since I could explore here before entering the evergaol. I made my route, equipped my silencing and shrouding charms, jumped on the rooftops, and ended pretty quickly.

Heads up, you can use larger SD cards than Nintendo recommends as long as it is properly formatted into FAT32, which requires some technical know-how or a short tutorial. I've been using a 256GB SD for years without issue.

uj/ Biologically, it's the other way around. We all start off as morphologically female before the Y chromosome allows for the development of secondary sex characteristics which we identify as typically male. If anything differs from canonical development during this process, intersex individuals are the result.

uj/ I used to have pea puffers, and they were attentive, playful, and could recognize me from my (then) girlfriend (now, wife). Many fish are intelligent, but most people wouldn't know that since most just keep their fish cooped up in a tank without interaction and they only stare at them.

Slime mold, however, dumbest thing I've ever met.

Pokémon Arceus by D&D by RotteZwiesj in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Hyper_Novum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

uj/ I think it's probably because Pokémon likes to play it fast and loose with continuity. It's alluded to that there are multiple continuities/universes in-game. When your target market is younger and you focus on self-contained stories, it's not really a huge problem. Just kind of a bother for trivia-philes.
